  1. Tactical Optics Division. Very simple. Have fun. Prepare to become addicted.
  2. Thanks to everyone from the RO's and Sponsors, to the fellow shooters and the weather, for a great match. I was lucky enough to shoot on squad #3. A few fellow MN shooters that I already knew, and several sponsors of the match with Samson and Adams Arms. Then there was the Huldra crew from Fleet Farm. Overall this was a great squad. Hard workers and fun to hang with. On this squad the competition didn't stop at the shooting, we were even racing to see who could reset the steel and paste the targets the fastest. Good fun. Stage #7 was a stage I enjoyed shooting far more than I thought I would. I went into it with the idea I was going to give it 9 good shots at the targets and see how it went. The only part of any stage I didn't like was the wall on stage #6. I saw several shooters starting to slip when the edge of their shoe lost traction. For safety reasons and for reasons of fairness, I think there should be 1x2's or 2x4's screwed across the width of the barricade so it would allow people of different heights, weights, flexability ability, etc. to be able to find a safe purchase for their feet so they could be secure while shooting. Just a thought. A couple of the stages might have been set up just a little differently to allow for easier/faster/safer reset while the competitor was still shooting. Overall though well done!!!! My favorite stages were Stage #8 and Stage #9. I thought all of the RO's did an exceptional job but the two on stage #9 gave the most thorough walk through directions I think I have ever heard on a stage. The sponsors were awesome. The prize table was something I wish I had taken a picture of.
  3. I can't take this sitting around crap anymore, I am enroute from Minnesota!
  4. I have been doing some business with www.mfrmetals.com, and they have good products at a fair price. This is a newer company based out of a town in central Minnesota. I have 5" plates on stands and some A/C zone targets with stands They are currently working on a short range rifle target made of steel that holds a clay pigeon for a positive hit indication, that shows great promise as well.
  5. Tactical? You betcha! And no, that isn't a tactical thong it is extra strap material!
  6. Repcon NW, great pants and they were a sponsor of the NW Multi-gun match.
  7. I use an ADM mount on my PSC-11 upper. I use the Swarovski scope as well. The mount has caused no issues with me. The only issue I had was when the left one of my cinched mags was sitting higher than the right one, the side charge ran into it when cocking. As long as they are level it isn't a problem. I always start with the right mag in the weapon when I run cinched mags. This allows me to watch the top of the mag when I do the reload, as well as see if the top round has walked forward while shooting.
  8. I am glad I am able to provide you with a little humor Jomar. I personally think it is a little sick.
  9. My thanks go out to all the people who put this match on, Del-Tone-Luth Gun Club, the RO's, and the sponsors, and the fellow shooters. After helping setup and doing some ROing I have to say I have never participated with this side of a match before. I always thought that showing up and shooting the match was hard enough. From now on you will not hear me make a disparaging remark about anyone putting on a match like this. I really had no clue just how difficult this side of the operation was. I was always curious as to why the people running the matches alwasy looked a little tired while I was running around having fun. Now I know. My question is why do they keep doing it year after year? Much respect to you all for all that you do
  10. Jesse I don't remember any MGM Swingers last year. MGM Spinners will be there though. I drilled and tapped the grease bushing so that I could put on a specially designed friction nut that allows me to set the spinner from "free spinning" to "immovable" for when the likes of you or Casman are shooting at it.
  11. Smooth can be fast, but slow is just ....... Slow.
  12. If you look at the the bricks to the right of the dogs head. You see more bricks on 1.5 power than you do in the second picture. This is as it should be. It appears as if you are holding the camera farther from the scope in the first picture than you are in the second.
  13. ericm I figured that was where the name came from. Your shotgun ammo is less expensive than what I get around here.
  14. That looks awesome! Maybe it is just me, but the targets on the ground are harder to hit.
  15. Wouldn't it be a lot easier for everyone to choose the match they want to attend, READ THE RULES FOR THE MATCH, then go have fun.
  16. How can u say it's not broke when every match has a different rule set on the issue? Sounds about as broke as it gets to me. This to me is what I like about 3-gun. I actually LIKE that each match has different rules. Part of the match preperation is knowing the rules and preparing for that rule set. I think the different rules adds to the special flavor that each match has. It isn't like we are unaware that there are different rule sets out there, so there shouldn't be any surprises for anyone. I vote to not add any more rules but if I had to pick one rule for shotgun, it would be 8 in the gun for empty chamber (this includes 7 in the tube and one on the lifter) then free for all after the beep. Loaded chamber starts would be 8+1, then free for all after the beep.
  17. That video of the scope falling off is a perfect example of why I love 3-gun. Adapt, improvise, overcome, but most of all - Have Fun! I saw everything from zip ties used to hold belts on pants, to leopard print duct tape used to form a sun shade on scopes prior to shooting stage #7. Awesome. I also forgot to mention the prize table. I was lucky enough to talk with James Cassanova about his "Starlight" case just after the match ended. Really a nice setup that I thought I could put to good use. Surprise! What was laying all over the prize table but at least a dozen Starlight cases. Lucky enough to get one of those. Thanks to all of the great sponsors that made up an awesome prize table, and I really liked the clear plastic bags.
  18. THE GOOD: I loved the match. Ken, Larry, and RO crew did an outstanding job as usual. I enjoyed the stages even though the performance I put on didn't show it. I really liked the different mind games some of the stages played. Great fun. THE BAD: Because I sucked terribly at the flying clays stage I will complain that the penalty points were too high. In the interest of full disclosure if I had burned the stage down I would have thought everything was fine, so take that complaint as it was intended (whining). Also watching the iron sighted shooters in our squad having to shoot at virtually impossible to see targets on Stage #5 and Stage #7 due to the way the sun was shining on the target presentation (I know, who would have thought anyone would complain about the sun shining too much at the Midwest 3-gun) hopefully these small complaints can be addressed in the future. Final complaint - Doctor tells me that I tore the calf muscle in my right leg and an MRI tomorrow will let us know if surgery can be avoided. Squad 13 was a hoot to shoot with. Thanks.
  19. I have made every Midwest 3-gun since its start. The first match was wiped out the night before the match by a huge thunderstorm. It blew every pop-up shelter, range prop wall, and paper target into a two county area. It also turned the entire range into a knee deep mud filled pit. Ken and crew were still able to put together an awesome match. The stages at this match will be fun and the RO's are the best. It looks like the RO's have already shot the match so the stages must be complete. Knowing the round count in advance is nice, but since we don't know, I just brought 300 of everything, plus a few buckshot and slugs just in case. They have never been needed before but who knows. Have a way to carry enough shotshells for a 40 round course of fire, rain gear for stormy weather and you should be set. Do what 3-gunners do best, plan for the worst and hope for the best.
  20. Filmed at the 3GN St. Augustine match back in March. My favorites from the promo clip Jesse's flaming shotgun Matt Burkett dumping the shotgun and transitioning to the pistol simultaneously Keith Garcia calling the shot w/ the shotgun and dismounting before the gun has time to go back into battery. Bryan 45 my favorite part was watching the trick photography that showed you running at full speed, but they made it look like slow motion so you could look cool. Ha!
  21. It was at the Ft. Benning 3-gun, I think the last one they held. Fun stage! I found the clip under "Noveske Shooting Team at the Ft. Benning 3-gun 2010"
  22. ClutchUSMC There were a few spots for motorhomes on the range. I would advise contacting Ken Flood, or CMMG and asking for one of the spots as they might already be taken. Parking on the range is pretty good unless there is a lot of rain.
  23. MarkCO Hardox is some sort of hardened steel like AR500 from what I understand. I shot these targets from 12 yrds and 20 yrds just to see what sort of damage it would do to the target itself, and to see if there was any splash back of bullet fragments. I myself, would not use this target this close during a course of fire. It was interesting to note that the target face didn't even have a dimple on it from the .223 rounds. The clay did explode nicely with any hit on the white portion of the taget. I hope to do some shooting on it with a .308 in the near future. It is hard to tell from the photo, but this target is set up with a spring behind it, and it sits at an angle to the ground, rather than sitting straight up and down. I am assuming that this is why all the bullet fragments are sent down into the ground. It was just nice to see that this target did not allow bullets to ricochet over the berm.
  24. I forgot to add: If I get a chance to use these targets this weekend, I will attempt to get some photo's or video. Also, moderators if I have violated any sort of rules I apologize. If this needs to be locked or removed please do so. It was not my intent to advertise for this company, I just wanted the target to be put out to other shooters to see if there were ideas that might make something like this a viable target for 3-gunners.
