  1. Thanks for the heads up. I now have a case of 9mm 124 JHPs on the way.
  2. I can't comment on the Xtreme plated bullets but I shoot Montana Gold 124 JHPs and Zero 125 JHPs in my 9mm guns using Clays. I've used the following load for over 10K rounds without any type of problem. I also loaded 1K of Zero FMJs using the same recipe. OAL - 1.135 inches Clays - 3.8 grains Primer - Winchester or Wolf Small Pistol Crimp Diameter - 0.376 inches Brass - Mixed although mostly Winchester
  3. +1 on Manny's course at Universal Shooting Academy. I went from C to B much more rapidly with just two days of Manny's insights, tips and personal coaching.
  4. I use the same bullet at 1.135 in my Competition XDm, STI Spartan, M&P Shield and XD Tactical all with no FTE issues.
  5. Actually the free shipping is being done by the Enterprise's transporter with Scotty at the controls. For those of you who seem incapable of avoiding political references and are risking this thread being closed your 75 pound shipment of lead projectiles is being beamed directly to Uranus.
  6. I bought my XL650 through Brian about 6 years ago. When I received it I found out that the wrong casefeed disc had inadvertently been included. It was the small size and the large is required for .45 ACP which is what the press was set up to reload. I called the Dillon CS number on a Saturday morning and the rep on the other end of the line apologized, put the correct disc in the mail immediately and instructed me to keep the original disc since it was their error. Over the last half dozen years and 100K reloads I've broken a fair amount of parts. In at least three instances I knew for a fact that it had been my own boneheaded actions that had resulted in the breakage. On all three occasions I offered to pay for the replacement parts yet they refused. I know of no other company that stands behind their products like Dillon. In the case being discussed here the press was used. I'm sure if the original owner had discovered a missing part it would have immediately been provided gratis. In this case, though, there is no way to know if the part was truly missing and should have been provided with the version of the press originally purchased, was added in a later upgrade or had been inadvertently lost by one of the owners. I think it is unreasonable to expect Dillon to replace it in this situation.
  7. Try GunBot. It's the best tool I've found to unearth ammo and primers. http://www.gunbot.net/reloading-supplies
  8. I clean my 1911's and 2011's every 2000 rounds. That may sound like a lot but it works fine for me. I clean out the extractor every other time or at 4000 rounds.
  9. I must have gotten lucky when I checked their site on April 24th. I ordered a case of 124 gr JHP's for my 9mm/38 Super loads. It arrived earlier today. Better yet, when I went to put it on the shelf in the garage I found I had another unopened case shoved way back on the shelf. It's been a doubly good day!
  10. We have a Jack Russel Terrorist who is now about 8 years old. She is the friendliest dog we've ever had and totally loyal to our family members. She'll tear off down the street to greet a stranger and immediately flop over on her back to get her belly scratched when she gets to their feet. My wife took her to obedience classes when she was about 4 years old and it made a huge difference. As another poster said, they don't get a brain until around 3 years old. She was the shadow to our Rat Terrier, the alpha dog in our house, until the RT passed away a few months ago. Now you can tell that she really misses her best friend. We have a cat and they get along fine but are nowhere near as close as the two dogs were. She sleeps in the bed with us at night. She alternates between curling up in the crook of my wife's legs and sleeping between us. In both cases she sleeps under the covers all night when its cold. The RT did the same thing. How the dog doesn't suffocate is beyond me. She was particularly active in the first three or four years and is still only a notch away from being a puppy but i like that. She loves to ride in the car. We crate trained her and she caught on pretty quickly. We can leave her for up to 12 hours and not need to worry about finding a mess when we return home. If you have a little patience and work with the JRT as they develop I suspect you'll find that you're new addition makes a great dog. I highly recommend the obedience classes when he's a year or two old. JRTs are very intelligent and learn quickly. Good luck!
  11. I had a comp crack one time and the bullet impinged upon one edge as it traveled through. It deflected all my shots. Take a close look at yours if you haven't already done so.
  12. I too am the lucky owner of both. I use my RF-100 for small primers and reserve the VP for large. I seem to be lucky in that my RF-100 doesn't have the rheostat yet doesn't flip primers either. I may get 1 or at most 2 per thousand that are flipped. I have it sitting on an old mouse pad which seems to help greatly. I also have an in-line dimmer switch that can be used to turn it down if necessary but I haven't used it for over a year. All that said, I'll buy the new VP in a New York Second once it becomes available. I prefer the RF-100 but I want a back-up for my original VP unit.
  13. I use the 4x4's on my JM Pro without any problem but I do have larger than average hands. I had an FSL 12 but despite the size of my hands could never get my technique to the point where I could load even two consistently.
  14. I'll be leaving Florida for Saskatoon later today. Am I nuts or what? Welcome to the Forum. We're always happy to have enthusiastic shooters join us.
  15. The gun shop at my local range sent out a great message to all the members. They stated that despite the current price insanity they would maintain their normal pricing structure. These are the kind of folks who will continue to get my business. They are also fellow USPSA competitors. While at the moment they have almost empty shelves and no AR related arms or components left, they will be getting lowers, uppers, complete AR's and PMags later this month. It will be interesting to see how fast those disappear.
  16. I have an EO Tech 512 on one of my AR's. It is excellent. I also have a Bushnell TRS25 on my JM Pro. It cost me about $90 IIRC. It has only a single red dot with no surrounding circle but for the money it is outstanding.
  17. I bought a 9mm Shield a few weeks ago. I teamed it with a N82 (Nate Squared) Tactical Professional Holster. It is without a doubt the most comfortable holster I own and I own a bunch. It is easily adjusted to whatever cant you desire. It is also relatively inexpensive. The only negative is that you need to give the grip a small, clockwise trip to disengage the gun from the formed polycarbonate housing. I highly recommend it. http://n82tactical.com/n82store/?page_id=2995
  18. +1 for Bobby. He's a great guy and an excellent gunsmith.
  19. I shot L-10 with a 1911 single stack for years. I never felt at even the smallest disadvantage. Just put a magwell on the SS gun that you already have and buy five Chip McCormick or Wilson 10 round magazines. It will be way less expensive and fully competitive.
  20. There are a ton of ammo tests in balistic gelatin on You Tube. The results are very enlightening and helped me pick my 9mm defensive ammo,
  21. While uncommon I can remember several stages that required running with a holstered gun. There was a rope swing a few years back at one of the Universal matches in Frostproof as one example. You needed to use the rope to swing accross a gap before drawing the gun. Several people DQ'd with holsters with poor retention. My DAA Racemaster worked great but my old Ghost would have made me very nervous.
  22. +1. Given the atmosphere these days, even before last weeks horrific events, expect demand to outstrip supply for quite some time. Unfortunately that means ordering well in advance of when the compenent inventory approaches zero.
  23. Glad to see you back in the fold, David.
  24. How wide does the front sight appear to be in the rear notch? My experinece with these a few years ago on an XD was that the front sight used up about 75% of the width of the rear notch. I prefer something closer to 50%,
  25. I reload my .38 Super nickel brass a good 8 times before I leave it on the ground at a match. That seems to be about the limit for me before any defects show up. I mainly prefer nickel because I can find it much easier in the grass.
