  1. I would stay away from the Federal barrels. The one I owned had a tighter chamber than the factory barrel but the slide fit was much worse. It is in the bottom of some drawer, maybe never to be seen again. I run Barsto barrels now and I could not be happier. I have bought the semi-dropin and the oversized for gunsmith fitting. They both work great but I would lean toward the oversized one that requires some fitting. Barsto sells a DVD that shows you how to fit it and the fitting only requires removing metal from two places. My 34 slide to frame fit and barrel to slide fit is as tight as a good 1911 now… I love it! I have heard good things about KKM but I have also seen several KKM barrels give people problems because they have a VERY tight chamber. I would pick Barsto first, KKM second.
  2. Any inside information on the "hot Potato" stage? I am worried about being able to reload with the potato in my hand depending on how big it is, how much it weighs or whether or not I can chuck it down range.
  3. I think it really helps to have active club shooters that shoot production class regularly. When the new shooters show up shooting a production style gun and they can see shooters the same style gun and doing very well it lets them know that they can be competitive and a $3000 investment isn’t needed to have fun. I really love shooting production division and I don’t have any plans on changing any time soon.
  4. If you are worried about it go to a paper store and buy some brown colored paper to use in your printer.

    Plunger Springs

He makes his own springs. The Wolff spring with some coils cut comes close but it still isn't as light.
  6. For what ever reason it happened, I am glad that it happened. This is the only time in my life when my name will not only be that close to TGO’s but just on top of his. It makes me feel like I just won the lottery!
  7. Here is a nother copy: www.utahshooters.org/fastshooter.wmv
  8. Charlie sells modified trigger housings from his website http://www.vanekcustom.com/ You don't need to get a new one. The ejector comes out of the housing and you can replace it with the 9mm ejector. Just get a small punch, put it in the rectangular hole under the set screw hole and push the ejector out the front.
  9. I used a 870 when I started 3 gun competition and my best advice would be to not spend too much in upgrades to it because you will end up with an autoloader. You can pick up a simple meg tube extension and a simple side saddle for about $50. That is the only thing that you really need to shoot 3-gun with the 870. There are as meany different ways to reload a shotgun as there are shotgunners. I am sure there are some posts here about different loading methods. Use whatever works best for you.
  10. If there are enough shooters that is. I won Production class at Area 1 last year and I am still not a GM (It didn't even move me from A to M)
  11. I don't know why anyone would design a stage like this because you are just asking for problems. It also takes away control from the RO. This is a really bad stage design if you ask me.

    Plunger Springs

You can clip 3 coils for sure, maybe 4. According to Charlie Vanek you can drop 1/2 lb off of your trigger pull by changing the plunger spring. You can also bevel and polish the plunger as long as you do not remove any height from it.

    Plunger Springs

Wolff makes the reduced power plunger springs that are sold with the titanium plungers. I think they are $2 each available directly from wolff at: http://www.gunsprings.com/ You can cut 3 or 4 coils off of these reduced powered striker springs to get an even lighter spring.
  14. GREAT! Any details on specs?

    My G17 Open Gun

Yeah I am going to try a 15lb next. I have been using an old 13lb. Open guns are so picky!

    My G17 Open Gun

G17comp, No ejection problems with the carver this time. The only problem that I had was it wasn't quite coming back into battery.
  17. 13lb sounds really light on a Glock19 I think that Matt's guns are all quite a bit bigger than that (17s or 34s) I can run my production load (130pf 147g) in my G19 with the stock spring 19lb Just because Matt runs one thing in a Glock with his load doesn't mean that it will work for you when all of the other variables have changed. Start at that 15lb and maybe work up from there.

    My G17 Open Gun

Yeah I have had some problems moving from a slide ride to a Carver. I am going to test fire it today to see if I fixed the problem. So far I lowered my ejection port .1 and I am using a first gen ejector. The first gens are a bit longer and there is more metal there incase you need to shape it any. I have heard of heating up your ejector and hammering it on an anvil to get it longer so that the case ejects earlier. I will post back if it works ok now, if not I will go to work reshaping the ejector.

    My G17 Open Gun

Here is a bad picture of my Open Glock. It was the best picture my cell phone could muster.
  20. Good info. I also had some lightning cuts in my slide for weight because I was using a C-more slide ride at the time. When I sent my slide back to Glock after the breachface cracked, they told me that I had cracks developing there too. I haven't lightened the new slide yet but I did lower the ejection port. Is that going to be a problem?
  21. Can anyone do that is the question.
  22. What are the advantages of having a Caspian or other non Glock slide on your open or limited gun? The only ones I can think of are an interchangeable breach face (My Major 9 cracked one already) and a better slide to frame fit. Are there any other advantages?
  23. He sounds like he is using his draw times and “tacticalness” to compensate for something else. Hmm….
  24. On a longer shotgun course with most of the targets from the same position (say more than 17 shots) I shoot my gun dry, reload off of my first 3-gun gear.com side saddle (9 rounds) shoot my gun dry, look up at how many targets I have left and load that many to finish the stage. This works really well for me because if I have a makeup shot my count isn't thrown off. Just try to not finish on a set of targets that may require extra shots because I never want to have to go back for a third reload.
  25. Here is a video of me shooting a 97% Production classifier on this one. It didn't feel really fast, just smooth. It was 2.66 Seconds clean. http://www.utahshooters.org/classifier.html
