  1. They few ive felt are like slick wooden 1911 grips.
  2. I have hundreds of thousands of rounds over many builds with Venom. You cannot go wrong with Don's attention to detail.
  3. USA Availability has been getting better and pricing has been coming down in recent weeks/months. If you are lucky you can get SPP for under $65USD/K. Common pricing is $70-75 USD/K. This is for CCI, Winchester, Fiocchi, Ginex, Servicos, and Remington. We peaked out around $100-110/K depending on location during late 2022/early 2023.
  4. I just ordered one knowing this will take forever. Hes one of the only companies making a CZ shadow 2 holster with a cut for the nitrofin. Crazy that his lead times are longer than most 2011 manufactures now.
  5. Scores only count if its within 5% of your class. You are currently B Class. So anything below 55% wont count. Thus your lower scores being flagged as a B. B as defined within the classification section. "This score is more than 5% below the minimum score for your current class and cannot be used. This flag is only applied at the time the match is uploaded, not with every classification run. Please note that you may have scores from your initial classification that are lower than more recent scores that are flagged B. This is because all scores regardless of percentage are used to determine your initial classification; however, after you have earned your initial classification only scores that are at higher than 5% below the minimum score for your class can be used. For example, for a C-class member, only scores that are higher than 35% will be used. This is also used if the score is less than 2%"
  6. You score is made up of 6 of your most recent 8 classifiers that count. Your F's automatically take your lowest two scores of the 8 and then you average the 6 that are left over.
  7. For me it started with stage design. The local MD was moving and the club was having a vote at the end of the season for a new eBoard (President, MD, and RM). I threw my name in the ring and ended up running MD for 5 years while continuing to help out after the next batch of motivated guys took over. To me... it comes down to "Be the change you want to see". Dont like slow matches... make them more efficient. Don't like the stages? Design your own and submit them. Dont like the props, build new ones and donate them to the club. There are tons of ways to get involved. I suggest starting with something that riles you up.
  8. Ive snapped 1 piece units in half (Fun fact.. most 1 piece units are press fit from 2 pieces). Haven't broken a Dawson toolless yet. YMMV.
  9. Literally every 2011 gunsmith has done similar cuts to this at one point in their career. It might be best to take some photos of the inside of the slide and frame. Might give some more details to lead to the builder.
  10. Attended my first all steel match at the Spartan 300 at the World Shooting Recreational Complex in Sparta IL. This match has both Individual and team events. Match Format Individual Match 10 Stages 26 Targets Per Stage [25 Steel = 1 point & Bonus plate = 5 Points (shape of a spartan helmet)] 300 Points Available Time Plus Scoring (Need to hit all 300 to be in contention to win your division). Team Format 4 Person Team 4 Stages (2 solo + 2 team) Fastest overall time wins. Stages were very interesting with a mix of targets (3-12 inches) at varying distances (10-40 Yards). Some mover targets (Bobbers, Stars, Swingers, and Swinging Plateracks). Overall, the match was fantastic and plan to come back in future years. My only real complaint was one prop (Swinging platerack) wasn't super consistent shooter to shooter. Some plates fell on their own from the violent swinging action (Some received 5 free plates while others didn't get any). I shot with staff on Friday, so this may have been cleaned up for the rest of the competitors. My Results - 258/260 Plates - Score of 298/300. 348 seconds and change overall. 11. Tuning a gun to ammo is never a good idea IMO. Always do it the other way around.
  12. SVI is just like every other larger builder. You have a selection of preset options. Thats it. Id argue SVI actually gives you less options overall. They are really more about milling and coatings as of late. Not to mention their turn around times if you need them to fix something is awful (Assuming they are even willing to look at it). My top 3 would builders would be... (All will build from a box of parts if you butter them up lol). Venom Rafferty Carne
  13. Tooth and Nail Armory used to make them (I have 1). Looks like they were discontinued as they are no longer listed on the website.
  14. Fantastic match. Looking forward to next year's match. Eric Kamps and Tom Palmer make a wonderful combo for RM and MD.
  15. Gotta make it sound fun... Stand like a Tusken Raider trying to alert the others.
  16. I was always under the impression that if nothing is stated for hand position, you default to wrists below belt. Apparently, our rulebook isnt thick enough lol.
  17. We did walk out music one time at a year end club match. It was way more effort than it was worth. Music after the WSB reading and before the first shooter... sure... why not. After that... its just a distraction that slows down the pace of the match.
  18. Mine were on steel frames. Aluminum will 100% wear faster, so maybe dont recoat it at all unless you need to. Im under the impression these guys are planning to go with a steel frame moving forward. No idea if this is true, but the story I heard was they were a 80% lower company that needed to pivot after changes in legislation. This was the route they went and only had tooling for aluminum at the start. Take all the grains of salt with that as it is from the grapevine.
  19. I ran a cerakoted 2011 from Don at Venom for many years. I made GM with one actually. It does not hold the gun back at all. Excessive recoating can cause issues long term (Blasting and recoating over and over can cause unneeded wear), but Ive shot open guns up to 70-80K with Cerakote without issue.
  20. Just sent parts over to Don at venom to build me a fat pig of a LO gun. Cheely XWF, SV SS Grip and a hybrid 5 inch barrel. My guess is it will weight somewhere around 51-53 Oz empty.
  21. Open GM, 2018. Was 29 at the time. Usually within 5-10% of the likes of people like Hyder and Vliger at majors. Only won a single level 2. Usually the bridesmaid.
  22. I swear I spend more time helping other local shooters tinker with their presses than I do even loading ammo for myself nowadays. Biggest issue is most people as of recent are buying a 1050/1100/Evo and then automate right out of the box. They have no mechanical inclinations, nor do they have any real reloading experience. They expect "Hit start, machine go burrrrrr". But what they end up getting is"Hit start, f*#k this POS...". Then they run to forums/social to complain until someone spoon feeds them a solution. Once you understand how your machine functions, there should rarely be much tinkering, unless you have part breakages. I honestly get more questions about 550/650/750s than I do automated presses.
  23. That can vary lot to lot for powder and is also dependent on your specific projectile shape and weight. Lots of compressed load data is shared on Enos without people realizing its compressed.
