  1. It's a chunk up front all right. Easier to stomach if you already have an 1100 and a bullet feeder. Still it is quite a premium over what the Ammobot used to sell for, $1599. Inflation accounts for some of that but $800? 50% increase?
  2. That makes sense. And on mix and match I agree; just because you can doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  3. It will be interesting to see what the TSA kit is all about. I wonder if it will have a sear similar to what GG provides. All the mix'n'match possibilities ....
  4. Gotcha, thanks. So would that be similar in function to what the pre-travel screw does in an adjustable trigger?
  5. Hogrider, do you know what function the welded up trigger bar will provide?
  6. I'm just guessing... but I'd guess it results in less trigger travel before the sear releases the striker. It seems you could accomplish the same thing by shaving the sear ledge that catches the striker tab. I've not heard of anybody doing that. SRP: I've been using CCI400 and CCI500 without any noticeable difference. That's in an X5.
  7. @anonymouscuban Did you use the spring that reduces the sear engagement? That's the modification I'm most curious about.
  8. Not as bad as I thought it might be. But possibly enough to affect operation. I'd give Dillon a call and tell them it is getting worn. I've called them twice now for that problem and both times they sent the entire case insert slide assembly including spring and pin.
  9. Yes, there is no place for them to go other than into the tube. I wasn't a big fan of the flexing either but I'm guessing that it would work just fine. Your buddy didn't like it though so there is that. The way I have mine set up the tube just slides up and down with the shell plate. I run the tubing through the opening in one of the C-clamps that holds the press to the bench. That locates it enough so it doesn't flap all over the place and there is no friction on it to wear through the tubing. That tube has lasted at least 75k rounds. Probably a lot more.
  10. Just watched the video. It seems that the over travel spring would be superfluous if you had a trigger with the over-travel set screws like the GG, Armory Craft, Keres. The pre-travel block is interesting but I wonder if it is necessary if you have a trigger with the pre-travel set screws like Armory Craft or Keres. I guess it's not obvious to me that they would provide anything the adjustable triggers don't already offer. The one thing that I find really interesting is the sear engagement spring and how it reduces sear engagement. I'll have to ponder the wisdom of doing something like that...
  11. I have an adapter that accepts a hose similar to the system your buddy used. However rather than run the hose into a bottle I just have a long hose and I cap the end of it. When the hose gets about half full I pull the cap and dump the primers into an old powder container. It has been a long time so I don't recall who I purchased the adapter from. I believe there were multiple options. The hose is from HomeDepot/Lowes.
  12. If you are going to take apart the case feed slide assembly it is best to remove the camming pin first. That will allow you to manipulate the case feed slide assembly without interference. To remove the slide assembly you have to remove the slide spring pin (#13311). Be careful as you remove it as the spring is under tension. Remove it and check the underside of the slide for the wear that is shown in that picture. Your problem with the cases inserting onto the shell plate could very well be related to a problem with the case feed slide. One of the side effects of the wear shown in that picture is that it acts as if the internal spring has lost tension. I've also had that spring break on one occasion. Another issue could be if the station 1 locator has gotten dinged up but I think that is less likely. Question: From your picture it appears you have an aftermarket camming pin. Is it possible these problems showed up following the installation of that part? The position of that camming pin is intimately related to how far a case gets pushed onto the shell plate. It is possible some fine tuning of the camming pin might help.
  13. I have one of those rods also. Maybe the same one you have. I don't think that is the problem unless there is some gross misadjustment. If it were me I'd bite the bullet and disassemble the case feed mechanism and see what it looks like inside. There is no way to see from the outside if there is an internal problem. It is a minor bit of a pain to take it apart but in the end nothing you can't handle for sure with perhaps a little swearing. That would at least eliminate that area as a possibility.
  14. The case feed mechanism has an effect on how high the primer ram sits. If the interior of the case insert slide (#97082) becomes worn or the insert spring (#13937) is weak or broken then the ram will sit higher than it should. It's not normally talked about much but the interior of the case insert slide can get quite eroded as time goes by. I used to have a picture but I can't seem to find it. If nothing else works consider disassembling the case insert slide and check for wear and/or tired or broken spring. Edited to add: Found the picture
  15. For a major match that is typical and almost a necessity. There can be stages where your 5 minute walkthrough will not be near enough time to figure out a stage plan. Example: 2021 Area 1 shoot house. It took quite a while to get to the point where I wasn't confused every time I did a dry run. It would have been a disaster if all I had was 5 minutes. Edited to add: Even if you are there a day early you may have difficulty walking the stages due to either there being a staff match or other squads shooting a different schedule than yours. Allocate plenty of time if that is the case as you will have to fit your walk through into cracks in the shooting schedule. Getting early or staying late after shooting is completed for the day may be necessary.
  16. I've had a similar experience with them. A little work and good to go.
  17. I agree. And they apparently think things are just fine the way they are. Or else they'd change.
  18. For some reason when I read that the first thing that came to mind was: “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.” -Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
  19. I guess I'm lucky. I've never run into anybody who'd pull that kinda sh!t.
  20. I guess I'm out of the loop. I've been able to find whatever dies I need from other manufacturers. But I'm only looking at 9mm. There is nothing at all special about Dillon dies. Perhaps look elsewhere?
  21. I'm at a total loss. I just don't understand where these people are coming from. I am totally clueless. Don't tell my wife I said that.
  22. That was my first question that came to mind when I read the fault line rule. I'm also curious what the rationale was in changing the rule.
