There is no formal limit on mag length but... Your gun with any of your empty mags inserted must fit into the box appropriate for the division you are shooting. That pretty much rules out any mags in the 140mm category. Edited to add: And just because a mag is 126mm or thereabouts doesn't mean it will work. Some factory gun and mag combinations may not be legal but can be with aftermarket base pads. In particular 2011 patterned guns might need special base pads. Monthly matches typically do not do formal equipment checks but it is a good idea and being a good sport to be as compliant as possible. Also if you should decide to shoot an upper level match your gear will have to be legal. Ask around at your first match; let people know it is your first time; you will get all sorts of help and advice.

I'm glad you are happy with yours. Obviously we've had vastly different experiences with Prodigy mags. You couldn't pay me to use them in a match as they come from the factory. And it would seem you agree given you replaced your springs with aftermarket. Perhaps not so much B.S. as you initially thought, eh?

Yes, it is a 2011 design so any 2011 mags should in theory work. Having said that guns can have their own idiosyncrasies. My Prodigy runs Atlas, MBX and some old STI mags without issue.

I agree 100%. Prodigy mags are only good for practice and taking stress off of your real mags. The factory spring and follower are low grade. The spring is wimpy and the follower is bulky, it takes up a lot of space. The action as the follower transitions through the tube is catchy. I spent some time trying to smooth things out but in the end they are not worth spending any time or money on. Get Atlas or MBX whichever turns you on.

I agree. There may be other vendors who supply equivalent service and performance that I am not familiar with. However if they did they would be pretty special.

The symptoms you are seeing are similar to those that are experienced when people have problems setting up a combo seating/crimping die. That's just an FYI as much as anything... One thing I'm noticing is that your flare measurements are far in excess of any that I typically see mentioned. I have not done a lot of loading with coated bullets so maybe I'm out of the loop but my recollection is that a flare of .385 is more than I ever needed. For jacketed I'm down around .381/.382. To me a flare of .3930 seems way way big but maybe there is something about coated bullets that I'm not up to speed with.

It is interesting to see the differences in feed lip and follower design.

It is somewhat counterintuitive but cutting coils off of a spring increases the spring rate. Google "cutting coils off of spring" or some such search string; they'll explain it a lot better than I can.

What is the measured diameter of your bullets?

I've noticed that the snap is somewhat related to how tight your shell plate is clamped down by the retaining ring. You might try going just a hair tighter.

I've entered some sort of circular state where I have to ask for a new password every time I log in on a device that is not the one I just set a new password on. For example I just had to ask for a new password on my desktop. Now when I attempt to login on my phone or table it does not recognize me. I have to ask for another password reset. Assuming I do that on my phone I can then no longer login on my tablet or computer until I do another password reset.

I'm old enough so that I'm not all that excited if I have to go prone or extremely low port in the middle of a stage. However my concern is not that I'm required to do so; I relish the challenge. However I'm more likely to pull a hammy when doing so at speed. Or at least at what I call speed... lol... (And I hate pulling a hammy!) But if presented with such a stage I just shoot it and do the best I can and try to be satisfied that I got down and dirty better than most in my age group. This may not be a popular opinion but if people would take at least a little time to work out and maybe drop a couple of pounds (or maybe 50?) so they are at least somewhat height/weight appropriate maybe they wouldn't complain so much if they had to shoot other than in a rocking chair.

The cheapest option is to install a bullet dropper die in station 3 and just drop the bullets into the die by hand.

My experience is that there is a bit of a snap as the plate indexes into place. I'm loading 9mm minor with Clean Shot at about 4.1'ish which is roughly about half full? I do get a couple of powder kernels splashed out on just about every index. It's not enough to bother me but I'm pretty sure I'd have a problem trying to stuff a 9major load in there. In that case I'd have to pay more attention to a solution. Plenty of people load 9major on progressives so obviously it can be done. Edited to add: I'm running automated right at 1500 cases per hour so that is a contributing factor.

I hear you. The fact that it is firearms related makes a difference. I think we should try to give them some room but there is a point beyond which you have to sit them down and have a talk. Hopefully we can do it offline but if it has to be at a match then so be it. In this particular case given what appears to have happened I believe they should have been taken aside, unloaded, given a quick rules check, and then let's all go shoot.

I didn't do anything that extreme when I did my P320 grip but I did use a hefty amount of epoxy. There was a noticeable, but not extreme, increase in overall circumference but it followed the existing profile. At one point DAA had a video on their site where they used some epoxy putty to do something like what you are suggesting. I don't know if it is still there. I'd bet there are some Youtube videos from others...

Given Springfields success with the Prodigy and the other recent entries into the 2011 space I'm a little surprised that Sig hasn't jumped in yet.

I remember although I never handled one. Weren't they a bit problematic? Also had an external extractor I think?
