  1. Shooting 250K a year isn't that crazy of a number when you consider that his full time job is to shoot and compete in matches. If you have someone else paying for and loading all of the ammo for you and all you have to do is go to the range and shoot it, consuming massive amounts of ammo becomes a lot easier. The thing I find amazing is how Eric can shoot THAT MUCH and still not get burned out on doing it day after day, year after year. That to me is the more important fact to take notice of. He is the best in the world because he maintains a high level of dedication to do whatever it takes to be the best in the world. Weekend warriors don't stand a chance against that level of commitment. I agree. I can imagine that if I was given that amount of ammo at no cost to me and that's all I had to do all day long, I could shoot that much. Like you said though, to do it day in and day out, year to year, takes one heck of a commitment .
  2. Thanks, that's what I wanted to see. Its amazing how a few C's here and there plus a few extra seconds over 30 stages can be the difference between 1st or 20th.
  3. Unbelievable to think somebody could shoot that in a year.
  4. i was wondering how many rounds he shot. I've read several interviews with him but never could find out a number. I would've guessed around 50-60k but never would've thought that many.
  5. I've been watching a lot of videos from liveshots.net from the worlds the last few days. Its hard to tell by watching videos what makes Grauffel so good but it seems lately that if he is shooting, everybody else is playing chase. He doesn't look like he's moving faster than the other shooters and obviously we can't see hits on video. It would be nice to see a breakdown of the stages with times and hits per shooter, that would probably help me compare him to other shooters a little better. I know he shoots a tangfo but is it a stock II?
  6. I usually have mine locked out as well especially when i am at a complete stop and shooting. I tend to keep them slightly bent when I am shooting on the move. To me the sights don't bounce as much when I bend them slightly.
  7. :Yea the good thing is that it was happening while I was at the range and not in the middle of a stage. I definitely think it has something to do with the recoil difference between the major and minor pf ammo. I never had this problem with the soft shooting minor loads. I'm shooting a steel match this weekend so hopefully everything will work as planned with the standard slide stop
  8. Thanks for all the responses. I'll give the stock one a try
  9. I can't speak for anybody else but our local club has one spot available for the nats this year. I'm not sure how that all works but our director of competition asked before our monthly match if anybody would like to go. I don't know how many of these spots are given out and how they determine who gets them but thats my 2 cents. As for being a beginner the advice would be to shoot as fast as you can while still being under control and getting your hits. How you go about shooting a stage all depends on the division you shoot. Oh yea and at your first match, know and understand the 180 or it will be a short day. If you have a local range that shoots USPSA go out and get in a squad with some veterans. If it is anything like our range everybody is more than willing to help you through every aspect of what and what not to do. You can find a lot of matches here on enos as well as matchsignup.com Good luck!
  10. I also use the free shot timer by innovative applications. I don't clip mine on my belt i just sit it on the shooting table behind me. It took a while to get the settings correct but it seems to be pretty reliable as long as the screen is facing me when i'm shooting. I will tell you that its a pain to have to go back and hit stop, reset, and start every time. I'm fairly cheap and just haven't been able to talk myself into buying a good timer yet but maybe one day.
  11. I've recently installed TTI's on my 35. They have been awesome so far. 20 rounds reloadable and no problems with feeding. They also seem to hold up well to the abuse of dropping them over and over. I have a dawson magwell on the way and i'm hoping the pin on the back of the basepad won't interfere with the magwell.
  12. I have a Glock 35 which I have been using to shoot in production with minor pf loads. It has the extended slide lock from the factory. I've recently decided to give limited a try and went out and shot some major pf loads. When I was shooting the slide was locking back after every round. I couldn't figure out what the problem was. I checked everything from the slide stop to the recoil spring. When I was dry firing tonight I noticed that my thumb could possibly be hitting the slide stop causing it to lock back each time. Now, i never had this issue with minor pf ammo but i think that the extra recoil of the major pf could be causing my thumb to ride it. Anyway, i'm going to put a stock slide stop on and give it a shot. Anybody else had this issue with the extended slide stop?
  13. I wish I could get out and practice as much as some of yall do. Normally the only practice I get for our monthly USPSA match is the steel match I shoot between monthly matches. I will usually shoot 2-300 rounds the 2 weeks before a major match but other than that not enough cash for me to practice!
  14. I recently shot my first match in limited. I don't have a mag well, just threw some base pads and went for it. Anyway it got me thinking if there is a box that limited guns have to fit in? Thanks in advance.
  15. Don't mean to get off topic from op but are there any problems with the TTI basepads not fitting a magwell due to the tab on the basepads that lock them in being up so high on the mag?
  16. I had this happen to me this weekend at the Georgia State. Shot a MPPopper twice dead center and nothing. Shot it a 3rd time and knocked it down. I've given up on calibration as every time i've seen somebody call for it, the steel has fallen. I'd rather take the few extra seconds and make sure its down.
  17. Yea the half day is the way to go. Great match except the dreaded noose stage! Does anybody know how many places were awarded?
  18. I can't seem to find where to download the matchbook. I've been to the website and see it but don't see where I can download it. Any help is appreciated.
  19. I'm thinking that pulling the noose will open the ports and they will stay open.... if not, I don't look forward to shooting a texas star one handed
  20. Does anybody know of a hotel that is close to the range? What hotel is everybody using?
  21. I use a 15# wolff shooting AAA .40 minor and haven't had any problems with ejection. They eject and land about 3-5 feet to my right which is nice for picking up brass.
  22. Same with me. They called me today and said they had received the once fired brass I mailed. Placed my order over the phone and said it would ship out today. Looks like I found my new ammo supplier
