  1. That's one advantage I do have. I have a lot of trigger time behind an AR (M16A2 actually). Having been a Marine, the rifle is my strongest gun out of the 3. Did my 1st rifle match last month and came in 10th out of 36 using a borrowed rifle, that I have never shot before the match. Took me a couple stages to figure out his zero, then I started doing really well. Would have come in higher if it didn't take me those couple of stages to figure things out. Pistol, I am pretty good with. I am a C class, but just barely. 1 or 2 more good qualifiers and I could make B class. That's what I have been shooting the most in the past year since I started shooting USPSA. Shotgun is what I need to work on the most, but it seems like that is true for most people. I'm no GM, but I do good enough, and I have a lot of fun. I'm not looking to become a pro, this is just a hobby to me. Thanks for your service Marine! This is the best hobby in the world. With 3 disciplines that require mastery it never gets old...
  2. +1 for JP but there are tons of good ones. Any competition trigger (light pull - crisp break) will be light years better that mil-spec. Check a few out at a match if you can, commit and practice...
  3. If you want to avoid sanding the tabs try using a little armor all on the top 1/3 of the mag. Lubes AND protects!
  4. I love my Titan - Barks like a 50 kicks like a 22. I am a righty and have the comp clocked at 12. Works like a charm...
  5. The season here is coming to an end. I am a member of oakdale gun club and shoot USPSA there some. Mainly I go to 3 gun matches these days in St. Cloud, outside true Twin Cities and in WI. There is quite a bit of practical pistol being shot at Pine Island an hour south of the cities as well. Let me know what you are looking for and I will send you some links. 6. Good to see another MN boy - Welcome to the forums. Shoot safe, smooth and clean, speed will come.
  7. Wear whatever you want. IMHO, clothes borrowed from the outdoors community are more comfortable than those borrowed from the military. The gear made for the sport tends to run faster than the tactical stuff. As long as you are comfortable and I don't have to worry about you or what you might do to me I say rock it. Usually, the tactical guys tend to end up looking like and running the same rig as everyone else because it works. MAIN POINT - come out and play even if you are loading shot shells out of your camo-laden front pocket!!! 2-bits spent...
  8. I snagged a pic of just the TacOps scores, but it was prior to TK's scores being added, so they weren't final Would you mind posting it? PM me if you prefer...
  9. +1 on the 16 plus 9 for and club match and most nationals. I run 2 8UP Dualoads and keep 4 AP Classics in my bag for going prone, managing slugs and buck or loaners. It is doubtful that you won't find a 3 gunner that is willing to load you a caddy or 2 during a match if push comes to shove.
  10. You have found the perfect place to figure it out. Welcome!
  11. Awesome match - Destined to be a major for the minors... Thanks so much to Ken and Larry. Between CMMG and AN3G I think it is likely I will need therapy to get the image of small steel plates out of my head from this season. Has anyone seen the scores posted somewhere?

  14. There are some great threads in the Mental Conditioning Section of the forum that address all elements of stage breakdown and memory: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showforum=18
  15. Looks like you are well on your way. +1 for the SJC Titan Comp and adjustable gas system. BCG and buffer is probably your next major items to consider. I use the JP lowmass for both and have been really happy with them. Not cheap but very low recoil and easy to maintain. I can't recommend more strongly that you spend a few extra bucks on the glass. for $500 you can get into the Vortex Viper new and will never need to change unless you want to. The glass is true enough at 1x to scrap the offset irons. THis should make up some of the cost. Have fun with it! Sounds like a nice pop gun in the making!
  16. Got it booked thank you for the info!!!!Glad to help...Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  17. David, I started in USPSA last year and transitioned to 3 gun at the end of the season. I would recommend showing up to a match with the gear you have and would have fun shooting. You need to have a holster that safely retains your pistol and 3-5 magazines ideally with some mag holders. I have seen new guys load out of their pockets. When you get to the match identify yourself as a new shooter and let the fun begin. You will get tons of good advice on safety and I have never met a shooter that isn't happy to tell you why they use a specific setup or piece of gear. After a match or two you will start to formulate a sense of what you need, what class you want to be in, etc. I say start because your shooting will evolve over time. For USPSA I shoot production which means an essentially unaltered factory pistol (I shoot a Glock 17) and a limit of 10 rounds per magazine. I run a blade tech holster and 4 CR Speed single mag pouches on a CR Speed belt. This is by no means the only way to go but it is a flexible option. Flexibility and options are key if you think you will transition to 3 gun at some point. Hope this helps and feel free to message me at Hawkeye Ordnance on Facebook if there is anything else I can do to help you get started. Mark
