I use Dillon Carbide Rifle Dies which of course have a carbide expander ball. The question is do I need to lube the inside of the neck? If not would save a lot of time lining up the cases to spray lube inside the neck. My loading process: Tumble the cases Take time to line up the cases to ensure lube is inside the neck using Hornady One Shot Size/decap Tumble again to remove the lube Trim to length Load on 550 with a decapping die to ensure flash hole is clean If the inside of the necks do not need to be lubed would save a lot of time laying the cases out to spray them. Thanks yes I have tried grease and all of the correct parts where changed out. Next I will try the dry silicon spray as suggested above.

I just spent some time searching and did not find an answer to this one. More than likely it is here but I could not think of a search term. Anyway…. I just converted my 650 from 40 S&W to 9mm. Therefore, it was just apart and fully cleaned. The issue is that more times than it should the case is riding over the slot in the Station 1 Locator and does not ending up in the slot on the Shellplate. Sometimes only one side goes into the slot which also causes a misfeed into the shellplate. This creates all kinds of havoc when the handle is pulled to size the case. I called Dillon and they suggested grease under the Locator which I tried. For testing I removed the Dieplate tool head so I could just watch the brass feed through the machine. I am still having the issue. It is almost like the brass sticks to the Locator and when it frees up it shoots too fast and misses the slot. I then polished the base area of the Locator and this did not help either. HELP

How consistent is CFE223 Lot to Lot? I purchased a pound of it several years ago and then with the shortages of everything I could not get any more so I went to another power for my 223. Someone else I know started using it and is very happy so I broke out the pound I had and developed some load and am very happy with the results. Now that everything is available again can I expect the load I just came up with to be just as good? BTW what I got the best groups with was 25.1 behind a SMK 69 with a CCI BR4 primer. Thank You

Bushmeat just wondering what barrel you are using. I had not given my OAL but it was 2.373 to be off of the lands 0.01 in my JP barrel. Again with SMK's not the new TMK's.

I finally loaded up two loads with the 77 SMK's 0.01 and 0.02 off of the lands. The load 0.01 off of grouped at 0.6" and the 0.02 off of the lands grouped at 0.75". Both are much better than the 77's loaded at mag length. However, at best only as good as the 69 SMK's at mag length on an average day.

OK I thought the SMK 77gr bullets qualified as VLD's.

I have a good quantity of .224 SMK 77gr bullets which I did not have great luck with in my JP rifle. The groups were not bad but not as good as SMK 69gr bullets. Since I have the 77's I thought why not try loading them longer than mag length to see what happens. (Yes, I know I will have to single load them) The question is what is a good starting point for how far off of the lands to start? Note I will use a Sinclair Bullet Seating Depth Tool to find the OAL for the bullet touching the lands. Thanks Ed

At the range today shooting my JP15 off of the bench I had a case split. The load was in a once fired LC case which I processed from purchase as once fired from a very reliable source. It is from a large batch I purchased before the panic stated and is toward the end of the supply and is the first issue. The load was a 77gr SMK in front of 24.3 grs of TAC. The split was length wise starting 0.2" from the case head and extended for 0.4”. I sectioned the case 0.4” from the case head to look to see if the case had a thin spot. Next to the crack the case is 0.025” thick and at 180 deg from the split it is 0.030” thick. Should I chalk this up as single bad case or does anyone see an issue I am missing? Thanks Ed

Glad to hear it worked out and you are happy with JP. I recently received my 3 year old JP15 back after sending it to them with some issues and I am completely blown away by the quality of their service.

The biggest issue I have with spotting scopes is eye relief with my glasses. Yes, everyone at the range should have safety glasses but if you do not need them you can always lift the safety glasses to look through the scope. Therefore, if you need glasses like I do check the eye relief on the spotting scope. Even better if you can get a chance to look through what you want first.

Yep I did not give the 77gr load - 24.3 TAC All 5 shot groups With the 69's if I shoot a group larger than 0.6 to 0.7 it is me not the rifle (100 yards). The rifle has done many sub 1" 200 yard groups again 5 shot. "There is no correlation to temperature and bullet weight" that is what I thought but sure seemed that way with the 77's. As suggested will mostly stick with the 69's but it is always fun to try new stuff. Thanks for the replies.

I normally use SMK 69gr bullets but thought I would try some SMK 77gr bullets and I am getting some confusing results. First off the rifle is a JP CTR-02 with between 600 and 700 rounds through it which loves the 69's in front of 24.4 grs of WIN 748. Saturday the first thing I did was to chronograph 10 rounds with the 77's shooting 5 rounds at about 1 every 30 to 40 seconds. I then let the barrel cool for 5 minutes and repeated. The 10 shot group was not bad considering I was paying more attention to the chronograph process. I then walked down range (100 yards) and change the target. I again shot 5 shots at apx 1 every 30 or 40 seconds and could not gat a good group. After 3 attempts with 10 minutes between attempts I switched to my 69gr load and got a nice 0.25 4 shot group with the 5th taking it to 0.5 this time only waiting till the barrel was cool in front of the hand guard. I then changed the target again and let the barrel cool for 15 to 20 minutes and tried the 77's again. The first group was 0.6 and the second was 4 shoots at 0.3 with the 5th taking it to 0.4. Thinking the issue must be me I waited 5 minutes and the 3rd group was 1.2". I know I was shooting faster than a real group shooter but this rifle has always done very well with the 69's with a 5 minute wait till the barrel was cool to the touch. Now for the question, has anyone else found the 77's to be very sensitive to barrel temp? Thanks

Does anyone have any experience with the Magneto V3 Ballistic Chronograph? http://www.magnetospeed.com The ranges I shoot at are nice but getting a Chrono set up for a rifle can be a large pain in the rear-end. If this thing works it would make it so much simpler.
