  1. I've been using the c&s fp with no problem. The original in my 625, which was pointed, broke after a year of dry firing (I do use empties). I've tried 3 of them and they all fit and worked with no problem (1 in use & 2 spares w/springs). Knock, Knock, Knock on Wood!!! Hope my luck holds. If you're talking of relieving the "Back" of the notch that the retaining pin fits thru, IMHO that won't help anything. That should be relieved enough or that little pin will snap like a twig. The difference is probably between the face that contacts the back of the recoil shield and the "Tip" of the Firing Pin. So, if the tip measures the same you may have to look into the fp tunnel there could be some trash in there. I'll try to remember to measure a c&s this weekend.
  2. OOOH! I love a good Mystery!
  3. The Sunday squads are short to move thru quicker. I think Fridays are short due to Match Staff entries.
  4. Ok guys there are 11 Revo Shooters, Mike Cliff Myself Dan Doug Roger Steve Ken Scott Richiro Widebrook One of those you WalterMitty?
  5. Like you could have my spot, if they lost yours. And then they could find someone else to RO a course. And if it's like the past years, it's usually one that needs hustle, big lungs, loud mouth or a LOT of Running. HA!HA! They're a pretty good group of guys and if there was something screwed up, they'd make it right. Or I will.
  6. If it was hitting the recoil shield it usually doesn't cut the thumb. My guess is the cylinder release. I've been working on pushing my grip higher and riding my thumb up like on a 1911, w/o resting on a safety of course. It seems natural, and a bit faster. But, gotta play some more to decide if it's right.
  7. Let's see I left in the middle of the storm, never have any luck with drawings. I live 1 1/2 hours away, took 2 to get home that night. I was home by 8pm. I'd say we were done shooting by 4pm, awards started about 5:30 didn't they? Is my memory right guys? Or have I just had another 'lucination?
  8. Hey, it's nice here in Havana. Got all this extra cash. Guys they won't let me near the money, I didn't even get involved in the course design. I'm just gonna work setting 'em up and running one. Yes, they will send out an email confirmation, usually a few weeks before the match. But, I will personally ask the SC if he's got you guys in. (Waltermitty isn't your real name is it?) I'm sure if it gets sent in before May 1, your in. Or I'll throw a real big hissy fit, which aint pretty, HA!!HA!! They also never post the courses. And I haven't seen 'em this year either. Carmoney said something about eating at the Timberline.
  9. Sunday's spots are filling up, I'm signed up for Squad 45, babysitting the Carmoney's, LOL! ! Unless they kick me out! We have 3 spots open on that squad, for an all Revo Squad. Keith you coming down for Sunday? Ken S. you're signed up for Saturday, You and WalterMitty coming down then or, if you want to make the Awards, on Sunday? They try to get done early on Sunday and even with the awards we were out of there fairly early last year. Cliff you coming up? It'll give you another chance to beat up on Mike? Last year they had some good prizes for the top dogs and drawings for some pretty good stuff also.
  10. What grip style do you use WalterMitty? Thumb down, hanging to the side or stuck straight up? If it's splitting your thumb by the nail, it might be the cylinder release.
  11. Yea, Waltermitty especially when it looks kind of like a smiley face, laughing back at ya ! If it starts talking back, you might want to worry.
  12. Don't you have a PF of 125 in SSR and 165 in ESR? If I read it correctly the 165 in ESR is a Minimum. That would make it hard to sight in for both. Though I've used 230 MG and 4.0 clays for 170PF and a 185 HBRN Berry with 4.0 Clays for a 135PF. They printed fairly close, like 1 revolution difference in elevation. Have you tried using AR cases and loading "Long", maybe out to 1.300"? It's not the Case Length that's the problem but the OAL that needs a bit more to work well with Speed Loaders. Can't you use a 686 that's machined for clips, but used with .38 Specials and Speed Loaders in SSR? Then switch to Magnums with moon clips for ESR? I have a 4" M29 machined for Moon Clips that works great with .44 Russians (1.300" OAL). And it works good with .44 Specials and Speed Loaders. Course there are no Comp III's for a .44 that I've found. And your choice of RN bullets is Very Limited. National is about the only RN I've found and it's in a 240 grain bullet. Another question for you, does an "N" frame with Miculek or Hogue Grips fit the IDPA Box?
  13. I had one of the polymers and used it for 2 years with .44 moonclips with no problem. When I got the .45 I had some NEW Top Brass. The polymer broke after a dozen clips. Course that brass was too tight to use the 6 finger Moon Clip Loader Tool. The Super Demooner is a bit heavier, but a bit shorter. I'd recommend if you're going to buy one get the Super, just to be safe.
  14. I have run into the same problem. Sight in at one point, then when I shoot fast I tend to muscle the gun "Down" too much and the POI drops. Jerry's videos talk of this by saying you must operate your trigger finger seperately. But, I don't think that's the actual problem. It's trying to "Muscle" out a faster time that causes the problem. It's not a Jerk, or if it is, it's real consistent. The problem is I've proven to myself that a looser, more relaxed grip (as per Brians book) is just as fast, or faster. But, getting myself to relax in a match is another story. The reverse problem is you sight in with a harder grip at 25 yds. then shoot at 50 yds. and the POI is too high! That's why Dry Fire is good, but can't completely replace the muscle memory of Live Fire. Vic's Trick is good, another is to use a FO Front Sight and when you're hosing put the "DOT" on the spot. When you're back, use the "TOP" of the sight. Course this adds thought to the process and, well it never helps me to think. All I do is get myself in trouble.
  15. Ah the double nickle, everything speeds up but the shooting. Congrats on making it!
  16. I have both. The Pliers from TK seem real good and are more versatile. Easier to carry in a bag also, though I always try to load enough so I don't have to use it at a match. Loading a lot will tire out your hands. The Moonsetter is MUCH easier on the hands, but I've actually had some brass (Top Brass) that you just can't do all 6 when the brass is new. It's just too tight. Once fired and it works ok. No problems with other brass though. If you buy a Demooner, get the stronger aluminum version.
  17. I have enough trouble with 1 gun, no way would I go to a match and THEN decide what gun to shoot! Course being a poor ol' country boy I have to be pretty particular on my choices. Besides I'd rather spend the money on ammo. One good thing about Revo is you can actually say that the costs are close LOL! But, then there's never a BAD reason to buy a new gun. Looks like the consensus is leave it alone. I am more interested in getting participation up than changing the rules!
  18. xuxupecheur, we all feel your confusion. Some of us will compete in L10 if there are no other Revo's. Depending on the course it's not Always a huge disadvantage. If you have a Revo try running it, once in a while. You may lure some others in. It's just so much fun! But if you do go with the Glock, we will still talk to you. Another option is to get classified in Revo, then shoot a "Big" match, say the "Summer Blast" they're trying to get 20 so Slots to the Nationals will be given out. Ever want to go to the Nationals? Revo may be your best chance.
  19. robopup, a few of us have discussed it in the past on this forum. I think the consensus was it would be fine at Minor. Carmoney is setting up a Revo Only match after the Iowa SS Classic in October, he made mention of it but we'll have to wait and see. I know if it increases participation in Revo, I'd be for it. Be kind of like the "old days" where we had fewer choices. That's funny in IPSC Revo some want to Expand a Rule to get Back to the Old Days! Still NO to Optics and Comps though. My guess is the only chance we would have would be a petition AND a continued increase in participation at this years matches. Maybe we should float Petitions at some of the bigger matches? Right now it looks like 20+ at several level 3 matches and here in Kansas we may have over a dozen. Sorry, Jerry V you posted between my reading and writing. Guess not all think it's a good idea. I like it, but if it turns away even 1 current competitior, I don't know if it'd be worth it. Sorry, Jerry V you posted between my reading and writing. Guess not all think it's a good idea. Nemo, All you need is a Revolver, preferably one we could all ooh! and aah! and Drool over. A Sense of Humor, dry wit may be substituted. And appropriate clothing for the season when you're at a match, despite El Conquistador. What you have on, or going on, while on line is up to you. And it is probably best to keep it to yourself. Oh and the single most important item is to Have Fun and Enjoy It!

I sure have, wonder if he went through some traumatic experience recently. Wasn't he at last years Nationals. Lord I hope he didn't get between Carmoney and El Conquistador. Yep, that might explain a lot, looks like he placed 3rd right smack dab between them. But, was it the Vibes, the sights or the sounds that have affected him most? Nemo you may be lucky to have escaped unscathed!
  22. Hey Walt, I'm limping from the weight, just looking at it. What's the holster?

Does El Conq expect Bubber & WalterMitty to have that good of eyesight, or does he expect the delivery system to have that much Wa(lsh)ttage? Good going Nemo, are you training your 2 Junior Shooters in the way of the Wheel? Tell me your secret on overcoming El Conquistador? What is his strongest skill? Weakest points? Don't sell your stage win short, savor it, roll in it! Then go out and kick butt again.
  24. 6 Singles and 1 Double up front. The thinner you are the more you have to twist to around to get them though. Depending on the course I may add another single and maybe a double in back. Don't do that if you have to start seated, or if there's something in the course that can grab them. Plus, the one I keep on my Pinkie Finger to start with. The number is actually more due to finding the things under pressure than worrying about round count. Besides, I like the flashy Bling Bling look of Nickel Cases hanging around my waist in the early morning dew! Yea, you guys should'a seen Carmoney, you know the term A**es and Elbows. He had moon clips flying everywhere on the "1st" 20 yard sprint. Looked like shrapnel. I was proud though that NO Revo shooters couldn't finish the course due to equipment loss, as a couple of Limited and Open shooters did lose all of their extra ammo and ate it at the end.
  25. WELCOME Delta Mike! Looks like everyone has chimed in pretty thoroughly. I will use either, but tend to fall back to the Miculek Style. Like Hop said, try both in a "Match" under pressure (at different times of course). Getting plenty of practice before the match. I've actually found that the Hands On style is more secure in the "Ejection" phase. Using the Switch Hands style I have a tendency to flip the gun too quick and the clip falls right back on the cylinder. But, the Switch Hands style is more secure in the "Throw 'em In" phase. With the Hands On style I feel like I have to guide the rounds in. The time doesn't seem to be any different for either style for me. When I screw a reload up it is Always due to Trying to go faaaaaaaaaast! See I screwed that up too, LOL. Seriously practice both, and one will feel better and more natural. Never try to smoke a Reload (wish I could follow my own advice) as that is the way to screw up. Concentrate on SMOOOOOTH, whichever way you do it! My one true fear of using the Switch Hands style is that one day I will try it in a match with my 1911. Either way, Good Luck. Dave
