  1. that the thing, everything works as it should. does not drop hammer when safety released, etc. i should probably take it apart and look at the parts interaction and the difference between the 2 safeties
  2. i bought it used so not sure whats the trigger group. the only thing i changed was the safetys. As i stated, the safety seems to work in blocking the movement of the trigger, so what can happen if it is not fixed?? will it go FA
  3. yep, both sides go up. looking at the safety, it looks all original. the inside and outside finish have the same finish
  4. i put the stock ambi safety back into my 2011. now what is interesting is that the safety lever can be presses up with the hammer down. the safety seems to work fine though. Is this normal, or something i should worry about?
  5. i have noticed that some people run their belt so it closes in the back. i run mine in the front. So are there any advantages to running it in the back, or just personal preference?
  6. Compete with 175.... Practice with 168... You dont want to add "Minor" name to your "Sandbagger123" name do you??? j/k of course.. i'll be Sandbagging at the Hose Fest next week!!!! Guess it gonna be 175pf. Should give me a buffer in case of hot weather.
  7. i have 2 loads that i have made for my 2011. i load on a LEE so i can only get 4.4 or 4.7 WST as loads. the 4.4 give me about 168pf and the 4.7 175pf with my 200gr moly at 1.20 Which one should i use to compete with? the reason i ask is i like to load a couple of thousand at a time and throw them in ammo box for future use. this ammo would be used for club matches as well as future section and area matches So if you were loading, which load would you load it at, 168 or 175 PF Thanks
  8. just chrono a couple of loads out my new 2011 this weekend. 4.7 wst @ 1.20 with a 200gr BC moly got 175pf 4.7 wst with 180gr lead @ 1.20 got me 168pf 5.1 of the same bullet and length got me 174pf Did not see any pressure signs and they recoil soft for major 40
  9. get a g34 with the extended mag release, or get the factory one and install it. they are about $2 i think. I too have the same problem. i can not release stock length, but have no problem with my 34. that little bit make a difference.
  10. WHAT? Are you serious?? I shot 9mm Luger with a 153gr. bullet, making 130 PF out of a Shadow. No I´m doing .40 S&W with a 180gr. bullet, making 175 PF out of a TS. That´s MUCH more bang than the 9! When the timer goes beep, and the adrenalin is flowing, i don't feel it at all. i run 135pf 9 and 175pf 40
  11. i have seen plenty of bullets like that when breaking down pick ammo. i will be different and suggest you bump up the load a little and see what happens. your load is midrange, probably about 925-950 fps. bump it up to 4.7 and see what happens.
  12. the closet indoor range to me does not allow plain lead bullets. they say its because of the lead in the air due to firing. ok. Now would coated lead bullets like molys and polymer bullets still be considers exposed lead bullets??
  13. I ahev been doing both. just got a 2011 and the learning curve is steep. I intend to still shoot production once in a while. i have set up my stuff the same. if you watch some of the best limited shooters, some of them set up both belts the same way. To me 40 major does not recoil much more than 9mm, with a heavy limited gun, it even less.
  14. i have been playing with my 2011. it a great gun, but for me, it seems to naturally point low a little. i have the same problem with other guns. it must be my wrist or something. it now has the flat mainspring housing. i was thinking of getting a arched one. will this help my pointability issue? alos, its got a Dawson ice magwell on it now. is there a specific one that will work with it, or any one will do. Thanks for the help from a newbie 2011 guy.
  15. trigger springs seems to be the most common especially if its an extra power one. i keep striker Connector trigger and conector housing Trigger spring Glock tool extra FO
  16. CR speed belt, 5 Ghost pouches, BT DOH is what i use for my g34 in production
  17. i have flown a couple of times with my handguns. Both time i borrowed a pelican style case. i need to fly again soon, but no longer have access to it. I have read the rules and it seems anything that is hard cased and lockable will do for the airlines. i know people that have used a cheap plastic case and even the a stock Glock or MP case. So what is the minimum you have used?? was there any problem with the less expensive cases?
  18. i just got my first 1911 style gun, a 2011 STI. This will be used for USPSA limited. i have be practicing on taking the safety off, as its new to me after shooting all Glocks and MP's. Playing with my draw, need to figure out when to take the safety off. I have ask a few people and i get mixed answered. the majority say that they take it off when they are pressing out, but i had a few tell me they take it off as soon as it leaves the holster. they say its not an issue as their trigger finger does not go into the trigger guard till the gun it horizontal. So what do you think of the 2 answers? which would be the correct one to practice? Thanks
  19. An area match, to me is just like a regular match, but with different competitors than the usual suspects at local matches. You may be the hot dog locally, but when you get to area matches, you may get b**ch slapped. I have found that the prize table is usually reletive to the entry fee. Area 2 has a great prize table, but the fee is $250 IIRC. Smaller section matches and such usually don't have much of a prize table. just do it and have fun. if you come back with a prize or trophy, its just icing on the cake.
  20. I am looking for a holster for my new 2011. I am leary of the open holsters and retention. I like blade tech stuff and am thinking of this one. anyone have any experience with it?? http://blade-tech.com/proseries-speed-holster-c-1_2_120.html#.UlQ_UlOgu8B
  21. i am curious about this vid. they are using a 2011, which has basically 2 springs applying force on the slide. on striker guns like glocks and mp's, does this video also apply seeing they only have 1 spring?
  22. i must say your Ro's sure look professional with the striped shirts. So where are u located?
  23. i have loaded it with a 147gr moly. my load is 3.6 @ 1.12. got me 135pf out of my G34. RS comp is so comparable to n320 that the data is almost the same. This stated, you should be careful and do this at your own risk
  24. Not sure if its the angle, but your SO seems to be quite generous on the cover. To me, your leg is way out there. Also, your cover garment is not legal. Time to get the fishing vest. LOL
