  1. I had a thumb rest on my open gun and found it was great for consistent grip and for table starts. As someone else said in an earlier post, if you like to switch divisions routinely to ones where they’re not allowed, it could mess with your grip on the other platforms, so you may want to take that into account.
  2. It’s a tough one right now to be sure. I was on a site recently, the bullets showed in stock, had the bullets in the “cart”, and by the time I got my payment info input, the bullets were out of stock. It’s a real patience-tester!
  3. Interesting time saver. I’m still pretty new to the 1050 so maybe not so adventurous yet.
  4. So I went the caliber conversion route and am happy with the choice. One other thing I hadn’t considered was choosing to buy the 750 was choosing NOT to have swaging capability for that caliber and that was a deal-breaker for me. Caliber change takes time, but it’s not bad. Really liking the 1050!
  5. I should have updated on this topic. The timing of this problem was right before hicap nationals last year, not good. I have to say that when I explained the issue and the fact that I was leaving shortly for nationals, Leupold rushed me a new optic in time to get it mounted (and let the loctite cure), and get zero’d right before heading down to Utah to work the Open/PCC match and then compete in Carry Optics. Leupold’s Customer service was off the charts fantastic.
  6. You’re way ahead of where most people are with this few matches. An interesting thing you may experience down the road, is that on your best stages, you’ll feel like it was slow motion, at least not rushed, because your economy of movement will improve with less stops and starts. It will flow. Looking forward to seeing your progress!
  7. You’re doing quite well for your 4th match! You’re good on accuracy, lots of A’s. Draw looks good, too. A couple items for your consideration: Be ready to move the moment you break the last shot in each position. Shoot on the move to the limits of your capability. You did this when approaching the target on a few of the stages. Given your accuracy, you’re ready to do more. On stage 3, from the port, you can can engage all 3 targets while moving, you can roll right through that position on your way to the last position. Plan your reloads so they happen while you’re on the move and finished before you reach your next position. Dry fire, dry fire, dry fire, that’s where the gains happen! I agree with the comment above about Seeklander, and I personally have used Ben Stoeger’s books. Again, great job, and kudos for being open to constructive comments!
  8. Thanks for this, AHI, you addressed an item I didn’t have a good feel for, and that was the time for the cal change on a 1050. You and the other responders to my post have helped me decide which way to go. Much appreciated!
  9. My 1050 is set up in 40, and the difference in price to have a 750 setup vs the 1050 quick change caliber conversion is pretty close if I can use my existing casefeeder.
  10. 9mm, so you’re right I’d need the small pistol case feeder plate.
  11. I have a Dillon Super 1050 and am considering adding a 750 for another caliber. Will the case feeder from my 1050 work on a 750?
  12. I think the Sig is a Wilson/Nowlin. Is the completed slide from Rock Island a bull barrel deign? If so, I wouldn’t want to go that path because I’m using this 1911 for USPSA single stack division. I should have mentioned this in my OP.
  13. That’s exactly what I needed to know, thank you Shred!!
  14. Does anyone make a conversion barrel/kit for a sig 1911?

    P320 X5 Thread

Hi all, I just had a DPP failure on my X5, which is mounted to a Springer Precision plate. When I do the reinstall, what's the right torque? Since the plate is aluminum, using Leupold's directions will lead to stripped threads. Looked all over and not finding a value. Thanks!
  17. This is a helpful yet somewhat heartbreaking thread. I just started experiencing the similar issues as you all have described. Mine is an "AE" model. When I turn the dot on, it stays illuminated for four minutes and 50 seconds and then blinks 10 times, and shuts off. It will not re-illuminate upon motion. It does this even if the slide is in motion, like it did in practice yesterday. Can I expect the dot to consistently stay illuminated for about five minutes? Or have you experienced the dot shutting off at random times?
  18. In a stock X5 I had 7+ lb pull. After installing the Gray Guns competition kit, the pull reduced to just under 3-1/2 lb. What is the pull on the X5 Legion out of the box?
  19. I get 23 reloadable with TTI base pads and factory springs/followers on the 21 rd tubes.
  20. Taylor Freelance now makes a 63 rd mag on the Colt pattern. I saw one in use at a local match. Flawless on all stages.
  21. Perfect, thanks Intel6 and ChuckS!! This is exactly what I needed to know!
  22. I put a Dawson Ice magwell on my Sig 1911 (Match Elite) in 40 S&W and have some 10-rd Tripp Cobra mags that fit great and are USPSA legal. The two factory 8-rd mags are now too short to realistically be used in competition. Is there a basepad/extension I can get to make thse mags useful, either as 8-rounders or as 10-rounders?
  23. This. Used it for all classes but SS and revo, but will be using it for SS this season.
  24. Thanks all for the great replies. I picked up a Sig 1911 in .40 and have the mags coming soon. It'll then be time to get it on the scale and see how much of a diet it will need... Thanks to you all I have a good plan where to start.
