  1. Thanks, I don't have but a box of 500 of them, so its not an issue to find something that will work. I would like to be able to run whatever bullets I can find, but these micro-chambers on these CZ's aren't too friendly with all bullet profiles. So it looks like I will have to ream the chamber or use specific bullets.
  2. Hello all, I'm trying to work up a load for my CZ SP-01 with 125 RN Bear Creek bullets. The problem that I am having is that I have to load them down to 1.060" before they stop hitting the rifling. It seems awfully short to me. Is there a problem with the RN profile in CZ's? Are any of you CZ shooters using these bullets or which profile of bullet should I be using in these pistols? I would like to use a coated lead bullet just for price sake. Any help would be appreciated.
  3. If I remember correctly, the TF base pads have small dimples in each of the bottom corners. I ran mine without any type of insert, just the spring sitting in the base pad, and they ran fine. As far as your modified base pads, I'm not 100% sure, but I wouldn't think that they would have any issues.
  4. Thanks for the info, that's exactly what I was looking for.
  5. What problems were you having with the plastic Mec Gar lock plates? I'm curious because I have 5 brand new Mec Gar 17's waiting for thier Springer base pads to come in. I would like to be ahead of the game and buy some of the metal ones if your have problems with them ejecting their guts when they hit the ground.
  6. I go up to 1200 or 2000 (which makes it *very* smooth), then use Flitz on a Dremel felt wheel, which makes it like glass. Nice, when I did mine, I was clean out of any polishing compounds, but I'm still extremely happy with the way it feels.
  7. The factory 18rds should fit the USPSA and IDPA boxes. The Mec-gar 17rders with the Springer pads are the same length as the factory 18's. I actually just set up all my Mec-gars that way. That's good to hear, I'm probably going that route also.I just tested my gun in the IDPA box with the Mec-gar/Springer combo... It's a CZ 75 ACCU Shadow Lite with the adjustable Hajo sight- it fits but there is no room. These were made perfectly to just under the box dimensions! Was that with the CZ 18's and Mec Gar 17's when you put them in the box or just your 17's? I don't shoot IDPA, so I'm not too familiar with the size of the box compared to the one used in USPSA. If the IDPA box is smaller than the production box then I should have no problems.
  8. I bought a CRP Edge from Dawson in July this year. I'm running it the way it came from them other than a different colored grip, and it hasn't choked on me yet. I'm using their SNL base pads and followers with stock tubes. Dawson has always given me excellent service with the two guns and shopping basket full of parts/accessories that I have gotten from them. They get my vote if you want to buy new.
  9. The factory 18rds should fit the USPSA and IDPA boxes. The Mec-gar 17rders with the Springer pads are the same length as the factory 18's. I actually just set up all my Mec-gars that way. That's good to hear, I'm probably going that route also.
  10. I have the two factory 18 round mags, unmodified in any way, that came with the gun. Are the Mec Gar 17 rounders with an aftermarket base pads the preferred production legal mag? Im really liking the looks of the Springer pads, will the factory 18 rounders fit the box with those? Either way, I'm going to get the 17 round mags, but I would like to have the factory mags as some spares, set up in the same manner. What have been everyone's experiences been with that set up?
  11. did you also use 500 grit sandpaper on here or just use some metal polish with dremel to buff it?I did all mine by hand with 600 & 1000 grit. I never touched it with a dremel and it feels awesome. No more gritty, heavy trigger pull compared to stock.
  12. I never could find one new, all the ones I was seeing, which was rare, were all used. So I decided to buy a standard SP-01 and started upgrading the action and all the other personal preference type items, sights, grips, etc. The trigger turned out great by following the "professor atlas" guide. Even though it has the FPB I'm extremely happy on how much better it feels. It gave me a chance to really get know my new CZ. I have never done a CZ trigger job and I'm also really picky on the way a trigger feels, to me, the upgrade feels like it should have been more expensive than it really cost.
  13. Mine doesn't function in either mode so I will either fit the safety/sear area or just buy the CGW adjustable sear. I know I will never use the safety since it will only be a match gun but I would prefer that if operates as it should. I have found plenty of useful information here on Enos to get the job done. Thanks to all that have replied.
  14. Thanks everyone, I feel much better now since this is my first CZ and never have done a trigger job on one.
  15. The gun is a comp gun, I just wanted to make sure I didn't mess something up with the hammer or sear, do you normally have to fit the safety after installing the comp hammer? As a production gun doesn't the primary safe have to function?
  16. I just did this on my SP-01. I installed the SRS-2 kit, CGW Type 2 disco, CZ Comp Hammer, original 85 trigger, shadow mag release, stainless steel brake, 11lb recoil spring, and the 11.5lb hammer spring. Everything seems to work as far as the DA/SA goes but the safety will not switch to safe when the gun is cocked. It looks like the "leg" of the sear will not raise high enough clear the hump on the safety. What could be the problem and how do I correct it?
  17. I do feel sorry for all the shooters in CA having to deal with that pressure. I'm sure everyone is scraping everything they have together, to get all the guns they think they might want before for they are screwed.
  18. My Edge ran factory ammo fine. I don't shoot factory ammo generally, I just tried them one day just to see if it would run. They were Speer Lawman, somewhere around 1.130, if I recall. But, like everyone else, I run my reloads at 1.185-1.190.
  19. The Dawson Precision sights are very nice if you don't like the big FO. They have a serrated front edge and the FO is inset into the metal blade. I use their sights on most of my pistols. They have different heights if you need to change the elevation of you POI. On my M&P, I paired their front sight with their adjustable rear, which seemed to be a good combination for me.
  20. I have both, I like the polymer trigger better. Like other have said, it feels better than the aluminum. Plus, the polymer is cheaper and easy to install the trigger bar pin.
  21. Yeah, that 8 week wait will be a killer. I'm going to try and use the factory sights for a while until I get a chance to get the slide milled. I want to get the trigger job and all the other parts swapped before I send it off.
  22. That's good to hear, CZC shows on their website they can do the slide cuts for the LPA sights.
  23. Trgt, thanks, those were the ones I was thinking it was. As far as everything else goes that I listed, am I on track so far?
  24. Hello everyone, I just ordered a SP-01 and was wondering a few things. Is it possible to upgrade it close to a Shadow Target. I plan to follow Kneelingatlas's trigger tuning guide and maybe mixing it in with some other's guides (from the CZ forum) for the trigger work. If I am correct the SP-01 has a firing pin block, right? Is that going to be much trouble as far as tuning performance goes? Also, exactly which trigger are they using in the Target's from the custom shop? I realize I will have to get the slide milled for for the adjustable rear sight and swap out the front sight as well. As far as grips go, I will decide that at a later time. I plan on swapping the mag release, guide rod, the mag brake, hammer spring plug, and slide stop. I'm very new to the CZ's so any of input would be appreciated if I have overlooked anything. This is going to be a production gun. Thank you in advance.
