  1. I’m an evangelist for the church of Silhouette. It’s clean, efficient, and cheap. I run a Glock 17 open gun as well with a Carver Major comp on it. That said I have a Lonewolf barrel with a very shallow throat. I know I know. I’m gonna ream it. Just haven’t gotten around to it so my loads are short. Hoping once I get the throat opened up I can get a little more powder in there and it will run even better. Right now my load is: 124gr PD JHP 6.8 grs Silhouette 1378 FPS 6.4 SD / 26 ES * COAL 1.070” 171 PF Very accurate load! And that SD/ES is with about 20 rounds over the chrono. I’ve also used HS-6. Load for that is: 7.0 grs HS-6 1348 FPS 10.8 SD / 38 ES COAL 1.070” At this point I just like Silhouette better. I like it so much I have 16 pounds of it. I also use Silhouette for my SD 9MM loads. Makes +P+ easy. Low flash, and clean. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I just bought a lab radar. It’s a big investment, but it’s a game changer. That being said, I also have the Caldwell and the Pro Chrono. The Caldwell had many issues when they were first released, but they have since been updated and the issues addressed. In fact I’m on my third one, all replaced free of charge by Caldwell. Their customer service is amazing. Every time I had an issue with the initial ones, called them, told them, and they made it right. They admitted that some units had faulty this or that and sent me a new one free of charge. Didn’t even make me return the old one. The advantage to the Caldwell is the iPhone and Android app. It is a very good app, better even than the LabRadar app. The CE Pro Chrono now has a Bluetooth adapter and an app as well, but at an extra cost. I haven’t used it, but it’s got pretty good reviews. I’d consider getting it if you go that route. Having the app to record all your data is YUGE time saver. I’d sell you my Caldwell set up (I have the whole kit) if you’re interested. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Okay thanks. I’ll try it outside tapatalk and iPhone. Maybe it’s the app. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. That’s a dead link when I click on it. I started using the Hornady LnL powder measure for really fine powders when loading rifle, but I’d like to find a solution for the Dillon with pistol. As you know the really fine powder gets in between the powder bar and the powder measure. Gums it up and leaks. PIA! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Not saying it can’t be done, but PP might not be the correct powder for the application. I only use PP for hot self defense loads and copy cat practice self defense loads. Loading super hot 9MM +P+ with JHP’s. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I have pretty much the same set up. I have experimented with both PD 115 and 124gr JHP. Using Silhouette. Right now the throat on my barrel is very tight and is limiting the COAL. I think that the shorter COAL, which is preventing me from getting more powder in the case, is the most limiting factor, and hence forth, I can’t tell much difference between the 115 and 124 projectiles. My ammo is VERY accurate and I have low single digit SD’s over the chrono, with a small edge to the 124 grainers at this point. I’m gonna get a reamer here in a couple weeks to open the throat up and start over to see if the longer COAL more powder works the comp better. And I’ll try 115 vs 124 again. I’m guessing you’re gonna run into the same situation with the KKM barrel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. If you’re going to use a lightened striker spring in a Glock (which is what I think you are asking) you’re going to need soft primers like Winchester small pistol or Federal. I tried CCI’s but got a ton of light strikes in my G17 Open build Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. I’ve noticed in the past all things being equal plated bullets will run a little a slower compared to the same load in FMJ or JHP. They may be just a hair undersized and slicker leading to less resistance down the barrel, leading to lower pressure and less velocity. You’d think that less resistance would equal more velocity. But I hypothesize that the seal created by the stronger jacket of the other types of bullet allows the pressure to rise and the powder to burn more thoroughly creating more energy and thus more velocity. No proof. Just a thought. That being said I’ve had no problem getting plated HP’s and flat nose bullets to major velocities out of a G34 and G17 build open gun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Plated RN should feed pretty well at any OAL. Is it possible that there isn’t enough crimp to remove all the bell and the case mouth is impeding chambering? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. If the bullets are “jamming” in the chamber I don’t think increasing OALis going to help your cause. Usually stock Glock barrels have sloppy throats and long leads (increased realizability). In the words of Dr. Evil, there have been literally “One Million” posts on finding your barrels OAL so not gonna rehash that. If your not happy with the OAL, only options are a different barrel( but most after market barrels are tight) or ream your factory barrel. Or get an after market barrel and ream that. That being said I know they’ve changed things in some of the newer Gen 5’s. My 19X has the newer style barrel and the throat and lead are much shorter than my other Glocks. I have a Gen 3 G34 with an aftermarket barrel, and I shoot 124gr JHP so I can’t speak to your situation exactly. I did shoot a few Xtreme PRN at 1.135” with 4.1grs TG. 1128 FPS with a 12.5 SD. Good load. Same load with with Xtreme PHP at 1.100” gave me 1058FPS and 12 SD. 4.2grs HP-38 with PD JHP at 1.100” gives me 1038 FPS and 8 SD. 3.6grs TG with PD JHP at 1.100” gives me 1047 FPS and 5.7 SD. 11. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. You are all wrong. Silhouette is the best. End of discussion. Clean, cheap, good fill rate. But if you don’t like silhouette the rest are okay too [emoji2957] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. It’s not for factory barrels. All after market barrels being reamed. I used a buddies to do one of my barrels already so I know it works. Good to know reference the factory barrels. Thanks for the info. Which reamer do you use for the factory barrels just out of curiosity? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Good deal. That’s the one I was looking at in his online catalog thanks for the input. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Which reamer do you use sir? I’m looking to add one to my kit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. The amount of money I spent this weekend on firearms, accessories, and reloading equipment/supplies is staggering. Oh and jewelry. I bought my wife jewelry. Had to keep her distracted. I’m pretty much done for the this year...and maybe next year... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. That’s odd. I get all their emails, but didn’t get anything from them today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. The suppressor is a Griffin Revo 45, first gen. Not sure on the measurement off the top of my head. I knew it at one time but can’t remember. I’m sure you could google it. The rail is a Midwest Industries suppressor compatible rail system. https://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/category-s/329.htm Barrel is a 5” 3 lug barrel by Tros USA https://trosusa.com Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Good deal. Can I ask what you where shooting them through? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. My math was way off. It’s $120 per 5000 or $24.17 per thousand shipped shipped when you order 20000, or $122 per 5000 if you only order 15000 (you have to spend $300 to get the 10% off and free shipping). Sorry. Still a good deal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Has anyone tried RMR’s 147gr flat nose FMJ Matchwinners? I was wondering how they feed? They have 7% off their in house bullets. You can get 3000 of either their 147gr FMJ RN or FP for $238.94 shipped. $0.079 per bullet. Pretty damn good for an FMJ. I like the plated 147’s through my suppressor since there’s no lead exposed, but I’d like to see how those 147gr flat points shoot in my G34 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Yes sir. It’s Winchester SPP. I used to use CCI and Winchester. But I got to many FTF with the CCIs. I run a lot of light striker springs. But I even get the occasional FTF with standard or heavier striker springs. Not very often. But one is enough. Switched to Winchester for all pistol rounds. I also find I get lower SD/ES with the Winchester SPP. Paying the standard hazmat you really have to get 10,000 or more before the Brownells deal starts to pay off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Check out Everglades Ammunition. Their stuff is on par with RMR and PD. If PD does 10% off that is still the best deal in town. But like you said. Not sure if they are going to. They have 10% site wide and free shipping. I got their 3750 pack of 124gr JHP for $296.10 shipped. That $0.078 per bullet. Also got their 3000 pack of plated 147gr RN for $224.10 shipped. $0.074 per bullet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I get it. Totally understandable. We likes what we likes. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. I ordered 20k from Brownells. Using the 10% code (free shipping), even with hazmat they come out to $109.60 per thousand. If Midway or Grafs is cheaper please tell me what I’m missing???? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I just looked. They are showing $135.99 per 5k. Did the price go up? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
