  1. Anybody have a Bigg Dawg tumbler. What is your opinion of them. They look like a well built wet tumbler and y the 3 gallon model can be filled with 25 pounds of stainless pins and 22 pounds of brass.
  2. This problem started yesterday and seems to only happen on this website. When ever I hit the "back" button to return to the main forum page I am logged out. Anybody had this problem or have a solution? I am using iPad.
  3. Like was said, rough with a 3/8" end mill. If you can get a 7/16" end mill that has a first regrind around .420 diameter will get you closer to finished size. Also be sure to go all the way to the full length of the slot and then machine back out to remove any deflection. Then with the 7/16" size end mill first go to the end position and slowly plunge down to finish the radious portion then lift up and go to the start position and lower the endlmill leaving a minimum amount of spindle exposed to maximize rigidity. Now machine the slot to the finish position and then back out again to take out deflection and ensure the slot is centered.
  4. No advice to give. You probably have heard everything there is to hear. I pray that you find peace and contentment.
  5. I saw a video of Taran Butler drawing an clearing a plate rack in 2.5 seconds shooting from the hip. Showmanship aside it shows that it is possible to totally ignore all the lessons about seeng the front sight, proper two handed grip and so on and shoot accurately and fast. This kind of talent is beyond most of us and we should not think this type of muscle memory shooting will improve our results. But the last few range trips I found point shooting without the use of sights seems to work out better for me when the targets are closer than 5 yards. If I take the time to look at the sights my times move higher by considerable amounts. There must be something wrong with me.
  6. Thanks. I purchased a CK Arms from shooters connection that came in today. I needed something for Area 5 next week and Nationals in October. Several people told me that if I shoot major matches on a regular basis I should have a backup gun not just spare parts. School of hard knocks.
  7. Agreed. These are not Sunday drivers. But I have read many accounts where STI replaces cracked slides with only photos of the slide. I was hoping to have the same traetment.
  8. Dawson makes very nice sights. They come with tools to remove old sights and reinstall the new ones. Adjustments are precise and the click stops hold.
  9. I Where did you find that information? The 10.5 minimun. Thanks I read it in one of the threads here some time ago. I mentioned it to the STI rep when he refused my warranty and he acknowledged it.
  10. Well it happened to me. After 14-15K rounds of .40 S&W my 5" Limited STI slide cracked. And since it cracked through lightening cuts made by the gunsmith the warranty department at STI said it was not covered. That I did not expect since the slide is 11.25 ounces. That's above the 10.5 minimum STI allows. My gunsmith says he would be able to get them to cover it. I had no idea there are two types of warranties from STI. Anyone have this problem?
  11. That's a little higher than I have in my Camerons but a little spring tuning should get it to 2-2.25 pounds. At $2750 not a bad deal for a a nicely built gun.
  12. Anybody know what the trigger pull on CK Arms limited guns?
  13. Thanks. I hear that Bobby builds great guns.
  14. Who builds the CK Arms pistols that are sold by Speed Shooters and Shooters Connection. Are they built with the same fit, finish and trigger pulls as if Cheely built them? I cracked the slide on my Camerons .40 Limited the other day and I don't have a backup. Area 5 and Limited Nationals coming up fast.
  15. Thanks. I'll pickup a guide rod and try the 13# spring first.
  16. My nephew has a M&P Prom 9mm for production and will not cycle reliably my 130 Power factor 124 grain loads that work fine in my wife's XDm 5.25. I purchased a 13 lb spring for my nephews M&P and found the guide rod had a bolt that held the spring captive. Took 1/4" socket and a pair of vice grips on the other end to remove the bolt. The bolt would not loosen and the other end just spun in the vice grips. I heated the bolt end in case locktite was used. Still no go. Anyone have any ideas. I wanted to buy a non captive aftermarket guide rod but it seems they are all tungsten.
  17. I'm so sorry. I cannot even think how life would be without our shepherd. Wishing you happier days.
  18. I run all SNL's on my mags and none fit the gage. I had to machine .012 off the bottom of the base pad and they all fit the gage.
  19. I load .40 minor for 3 gun. I use 155 grain projectiles and VV N320 for 135 power factor. Very soft shooting but snappy enough to get back on target fast. I compared it to my wife's 9mm loads and found that I prefer the .40 minor. I would use the .40 minor load that you have. If you have not tried the .155 grain projectiles I would give them a try. I like the recoil much better than the 180 grain projectiles in minor.
  20. You wouldn't be alive with a blood test lead level of 280 ug/Dl, that would have been done by an autopsy. You would be near death between 80-100, and throwing up constantly, chronic diarrhea, violent headaches, loss of vision, a blue and black line around your lips, tingling in your fingers and toes, slurred speech, i.e., basically Fd-up real good. If you were at the range, your squad would be deciding on who gets what of your gear when you croak. Suggest that you get a blood test to check for lead, and read this article about urine toxic metal testinghttp://www.quackwatch.com/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/Tests/urine_toxic.html I did read the article a week ago and I agree that the provoked urine test does show abnormally high levels. But considering my advanced symptoms I would say that I still have a problem. From what I have been reading most adults show symptoms at 70 and everyone at 100. And it mentioned that indoor shooting range instructors have had levels as high as 330. I will be getting a blood level test after my chelation therapy.
  21. I knew there was a problem when I started peeing #8 shot.
  22. I have been having unexplained headaches for years but they have become more constant the last three months. Also have constant unexplained joint pain, tingling and numbness in the extremities, inability to concentrate and digestion problems. I still am not sure why my levels are so high. My brother in law says his sister is finally feeding me the proper dose of lead to have an effect.
  23. I did not get a blood test but had a "provoked" urine test. This was done by taking DMSA, a chelation drug that pulls lead from tissue and then is removed thru the kidneys then urine. The CDC max level is 10 micro grams / deciliter. My level came in at 280. The provoked urine test has some controversy since it will show higher levels than the unprovoked 24 hour urine test or blood test. I think the very high level that my test and the symptoms I am experiencing indicate I have a problem regardless of the test used. I am now on DMSA chelation for the next three months then I will be retested. I will also get a blood test to determine unprovoked levels. I do not understand the high levels since I only reload and shoot jacketed bullets. I shoot once a week at a indoor range that has good ventilation. And once a month at a outdoor range. The only thing I can think of is my 33 year career at a manufacturing facility where there was some lead and leaded steel machined. But I quit that job over six years ago.
