  1. Just in case anyone is interested, I ran my new loads through the chrono today. With 4.5 grains of Winchester Super Target, they made 166,000 power factor.
  2. I used to live in Illinois, and I bought several guns from Don Barth at Pekin Gun in Pekin, Illinois. One day he shared a story with me that I found rather hilarious. Don lives in the country, and he loves to shoot. One summer his neighbor sold his house, and a new guy moved in. This new neighbor didn't care for guns or shooters. Most of the time when Don went outside to shoot on his own property, this new neighbor would come over, stand on the property line, and just stare at him the entire time. The new neighbor went so far as to have an eight foot chain linked fence put up on the property line that went about three hundred feet. Imagine what that cost! Conviced that this new neighbor had put up the fence on Don's property, Don paid a surveyor to come out and prove it. The next time Don went outside to shoot, you guessed it, the new neighbor came out, stood by the fence, and commenced with his usual stare routine. Don finally had enough, walked up to the guy and gave him the bad news about his new fence. The fence stayed, but the new neighbor never caused him any grief again.
  3. The weirdest malfunction (a mishap really) I ever saw happened at the Michigan State IDPA match two years ago. As one of the competitors was shooting, a piece of brass landed directly on top of his hammer.
  4. I tried VV N310 4.1 grains with a 230 grain RN Zero Jacketed bullet, and it doesn't make power factor through a 4" 625. Also, it's very dirty. I just tested a new load. Winchester Super Target, 4.6 grains, 230 grain speer plated RN, OAL 1.25", federal 150's. Power factor is 171,000. I just loaded up some rounds with 4.5 grains, but I haven't tested it. The recoil from 4.6 grains of WST is a little harsh.
  5. Thanks Vettman1, That is pretty slick! Dillon Precision should put that video on their website.
  6. Loves2Shoot, Great Post! I had a thought. If California bans all guns, then criminals won't have them. Therefore, the police shouldn't need guns either, right? It sounds like California has it all figured out!!!!!
  7. Bobaloo, Welcome to the forum!! I found your take on the LFCD interesting. While I have noticed the machine does run a little on the rough side at times with the LFCD, I haven't noticed a difference in OAL before and/or after the LFCD. In fact, I use the LFCD exclusively as my crimp die in every load I produce (i.e., 9mm, 45 acp, 45 Long Colt, 45 Auto Rim). I've never had a problem!!! In fact, the ammo I'm producing is incredibly reliable and it passes the case gauge 99.9999999999999% of the time (as long as I'm using Starline Brass). Almost three years ago, I had very little experience with reloading. However, After several thousands of rounds, I wouldn't go without the LFCD. Chris
  8. I have a 650 so I haven't been too excited about the casefeeder for the 550. However, I've been using my 550 more so I'm starting to get excited about the casefeeder for the 550. I would love to see a video. I'm probably going to end up getting one.
  9. I wanted to let everyone here know that our club is hosting the 1st Great Lakes IDPA Regional Championship in Munger, Michigan on the 20th and 21st of May. Priority will be given to out-of-state shooters until March 1st. Applications can be found at http://www.linwoodbaysportsmans.com or through the IDPA website's upcoming major matches section. Chris
  10. Thanks. By the way, Randy, I'm using figernail polish these days!!
  11. When you're doing a trigger job on a revolver, do you polish the inside of the frame? I polished every contact point to a very smooth finish after lightly stoning everyting as Jerry Miculek outlines in his video. Before I put everything back together, I noticed the inside of the frame was a little on the rough side. I did the best I could to polish everything, but it was somewhat difficult. I am curious to see what others here have done. Thanks.
  12. The only advice I can give on the subject: 1. Weight loss 2. Avoid alcohol & caffeine 3. Give the CPAP a try 4. Quit smoking 5. Don't let anyone talk you into the Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty procedure!!
  13. foosball, welcome to the forum! I have grown quite fond of my Jerry Miculek grips on my 625.

    Spoof

I just had this happen to me. The e-mail said that I needed to update my account information or my account would be terminated. Fearing the loss of my 100% positive feedback, I followed the link. When they asked for credit card information, I became suspicious and e-mailed ebay. They confirmed my suspicion.
  15. My hat is off to Jake. I went to the Thunder on the Ohio match two years ago. The prize table was absolutely incredible. I've never seen anything like it!! I ended up with more in prizes than the entire cost of the match. I don't doubt that it was a lot of work. Thanks Jake!
  16. I went through the same dilemma two years ago. I started out with a 550, and I love it. I bought a 650, and I love it too. You'll be happy with whatever you decide to do. You really can't go wrong with either of the two.
  17. When I was in medical school, one of our instructors was telling us a story about a guy a few years back that did something really disturbing! He removed the bowels from a corpse and began 'jumping rope' in front of everyone. Obviously, he had a few screws loose. He was promptly expelled from school.
  18. I bought a flex-hone for my 625. While going through my brownell's catalogue, I read the fine print. You're supposed to use the flex-hone oil with the flex-hone. Supposedly, by not using the flex-hone oil, the flex-hone will be destroyed. Hope this is helpful. Does anyone else have any input?
  19. You can order some corncob media from Powder Valley. For polishing, I've starting useing Meguiar's car polish or wax. It's about five bucks for a 16 ounce bottle. You can get it at AutoZone or Wal-Mart. You'll be happy with the results.
  20. The MANSHOW boy is a riot! There is a skit where he's selling beer (like some twisted lemonade stand). A guy walks up and the boy asks him if he wants a beer. The man says no. The MANSHOW boys says, "Your mouth says no, but your fat gut says yes" -sharp tongue on that one. My favorite skit is Will Ferrell doing Neil Diamond. "I killed a drifter so I could get an erection- shut up, I'm Neil Diamond" Another great skit is Jim Carey as Jimmy Tango where you "Ride the Snake" to weight loss by taking crystal meth and wearing vibrating heat beads. Will Ferrell stands up and says, "Jimmy, I've been wearing your vibrating heat beads, and not only have I lost 60 pounds in three days, but guess what? I just found out I'm the Devil!! And I will seize the blood of all the worlds sinners" Carey says, "Sounds good. Scan me" Then Ferrell starts bleeding from his head, "make it stop Jimmy". Then Carey says, "Don't mess with the maestro". Still makes me laugh. The Clayton Bigsby skit is another favorite. Has anyone ever seen the SOUTHPARK episode where Mr. Garrison invents the Gyroscope to get even with the Airlines? It's disturbing!!
  21. We have a local shooter that sells stuff from Target Barn. Since he's local, and he brings everything you ask for in his trailer, I decided I would give him a try. At a local match, I go up to him and ask him about placing an order- a really big order! He impatiently tells me that all of his prices are listed somewhere (I don't remember where), and gives me the blow-off. I'm not sure why, but I decided to order from Powder Valley. Now, instead of me going to pick up my stuff, it comes right to my door. I would have preferred to keep business local, but............... +1 on Powder Valley
  22. She doesn't have any trouble with the slide, but I'm still going to get a 13# recoil spring/Wolff guide rod combo. I'll also load some really light target loads for her to start out on.
  23. We made a decision! We're going with the G17 and a Surefire. Thanks to everyone for their input. Chris
  24. It's fixed! I picked my revolver up today. There were signs of a struggle so I don't feel so bad. Everything is o.k. I'm going to put everything back together in a few minutes. Thanks again guys, Chris
  25. JFD, As it turns out, I didn't read the packaging! Now I wish I had. I've never been one to read directions. I get thoughts in my head, and something inside me says- do it! jkrispies, I wish I could try your idea, but I got to the pistol before I listened to anyone, and I messed everything up. In my brilliant decision to drill the screw, I did remove the mainspring. Then I cut off what portion was sticking through with my dremel tool. Then I drilled from both sides. It went downhill from there. I finally got a screw extractor to take a bite. All was well until I heard/felt/saw it snap in half. I decided to fire myself from the job and get some professional help. I really do appreciate everyones input. This has been a humbling and huge learning experience. I wish I could go back in time because I really think it's fun to play with blow torches.
