  1. I believe the extra step on M type is larger than the Dillon, so I doubt a lathe is going to help much.
  2. Check the inside of the primer feed housing, it's easy to over tighten the set screws that hold it on, and bulge the housing enough to make slide hang up. Fred
  3. Ran some 45's over the chrono today, all out of my 4" 625. First data is Clays, 4.0 under a 200gr. cast RN, S&B lpp, 1.25" OAL both strings started as 12 shots, but had a few error readings. Nobel Vectan BA-10, 3.8gr, all other data same as Clays
  4. I've been using low odor mineral spirits for years in my 25 yr old Midway tumbler with no problems. Fred
  5. close but not quite, it actually sits under the plastic tip, the cup on the primer bar pushes it back out of the way when it slides back to pick up the primer, the flap is the return spring. Fred
  6. I have some BA10 coming, actually here if FedEx guy would have been on time , I'm going to use it in .45, see how it compares to Clays. Fred
  7. thanks for the info, better get a bearing ordered Fred
  8. just picked a second, older used 550 so I don't have to switch primer sizes, this unit doesn't have the primer track bearing PN # 14015, and I can see where the primer slide has been running on the surface of the press itself, is this how older 550's were made ? or was this one just setup wrong ? Fred
  9. But Dillon stuff holds value so well and is easy to sell second hand, can always upgrade down the road, with out taking too much of a loss.
  10. 02" to .04" ?? sounds pretty excessive, especially if you're loading 9mm, that much variance will really effect pressure, I never get more than .005" variation with my 550B, did you move the decimal point one spot to the right ?
  11. I reload mostly cast bullets, and do my own casting, have been since the 80's, I've never used anything but soap and water, and my lead level has never been over 4. I think D lead stuff is great, for the guy selling it anyway LOL. Fred
  12. I bought a barrel from Shadow Ops last year, it's listed as a 556 socom profile, 16" 1 in 7, I finally got all the pieces together and started assembling it this week, I just noticed the barrel is stamped L .223 1/7 , now I'm wondering do I really have a 5.56 chamber or is it a .223 Rem ?? any help would be greatly appreciated Fred
  13. It's 1.215" - 1.220" , straight out of 550B manual Fred
  14. this is exactly what I do, works well + 2
  15. I don't worry about walnut in the flash hole, I figure the decapping pin will knock it out anyway ... just my 2 cents
  16. thanks, the HKS were the only ones I'd seen so far
  17. does anyone make a competition style speedloader for SW 625, using autorim brass ?? thinking about trying out SSR class in IDPA Fred
  18. Just started shooting IDPA in the spring of this year, CDP w/ S&W 1911 is the only class I've shot so far, other than the BUG matches. Fred
  19. Really nice, makes my plain jane one look pretty sad
  20. One other thing to check, on the primer feed housing, where threaded mounting holes are, check for high spots that will make the primer bar drag, the material is very thin there and very little over tightening of the screws or even a bump of the priming system can kick up a high spot. Just take a very fine file or a hone stone and dress the high spots down flush. Fred
  21. Sure can, Dillon dies are 7/8 X 14, except for Square Deal B dies. Fred
  22. That's surprising, as I've done tests with the same load using different brands of LPP (Tula, CCI, Federal), and saw differences there. CCI's were the weakest. What brands of LPP and SPP did you compare? I had the same results, quite a bit slower on the chrono and bigger ES with CCI SPP compared to Tula LPP, loading Clays and cast 200SWC. Fred
  23. Another thing to check is the housing that the bar slides in, where the tapped holes are is kind of thin and can swell out a bit causing the bar to stick, had to hone mine flat, the high spots were easy to see, shiny from rubbing. Fred
