  1. Nice. I just put together a 2x4 basics bench myself. Yeah, it' more expensive than buying lumber for the legs, but it sure made it easy to put the bench together. Especially for someone without the proper tools. I had home depot cut some masonite sheets together with the particle boards so that I could top each level.
  2. I already tried calling them a few times and got the answering machine. Left a message and patiently waiting. I completely understand how price fluctuations can happen, especially when it comes to gas. Just wanted to know if anyone here has seen prices frequently going up, and more importantly, down with x-treme bullets specifically. Thanks for the input. =)
  3. Hey all. Just about to put in my first order at x-treme bullets for .40 rnfp 180s at about $48/500. I placed them in my cart and I took some time to call them to help me make a decision, rnfp vs hp. Went back to my cart 30 min later to finalize my purchase, and the price jumped to 52.94/500!! Yeah, I'm kicking myself for not acting sooner. Anyways.. in your experience, have you seen prices go up and down frequently? Wondering if I should wait for a drop. This kinda negates the free August shipping I was trying to jump on.
  4. This is the same die.. George worked with Lee to build it, it's not an exclusive EGW productThis is Georges comment on it:http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23777&page=2#entry285205 Ok. Just got off the horn with a nice guy over at EGW. The EGW u die is, as I originally posted, DIFFERENT than the "regular" u dies that can be had at brownells/midwayusa, etc. It is specifically manufactured for EGW by lee. It sizes the case .001 smaller than the standard u dies. It also has been modified to size the case further down.
  5. Sorry sarge, meant to say chipped. Post is corrected. I'm only speaking from my experience of having to increase the bell of my cases to avoid shaving the coating off the precision bullets I was using. I was speculating that, if it were a harder jacket instead of a softer coating, the bullet could damage the brass instead of just the brass damaging the bullet.
  6. This is the same die.. George worked with Lee to build it, it's not an exclusive EGW productThis is Georges comment on it:http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23777&page=2#entry285205 I stand corrected. Sorry for the misinformation. I was under the impression hey were different based on what I've read here on the forums. You mean the u die I can buy from brownells is the same as the u die on EGW's site?
  7. You'll want to look into the EGW lee u-die. This is a version made by lee exclusively for EGW. It's modified so it sizes the case further down, more effectively getting rid of the 'bulge'. I've never had nor heard of 'chipped' brass. Since it sizes the diameter of the case slimmer than standard sizing dies, you'll want to bell your case enough so that it doesn't shave your lead or coated projectiles. I suppose jacketed bullets will 'chip' the case if not belled sufficiently.
  8. Doesn't that throw out most pistols approved for production?
  9. What Lifeislarge said, plus make sure the components in your search work will in a G34. That way, you can feel confident in ordering bulk if you're going the internet route. Hazmat fees are going to kill if you're just ordering a couple pounds of powder and a box of primers. If you just want to dabble at first or do some load experimenting, find an LGS with reasonable prices. Get your feet wet, shoot a few matches. You may find yourself wanting to go with a different platform or division which may lead to a whole new set of components. I hope what I said doesn't keep you up at night. I've been there.
  10. In the appendix of my reloading manual, it says to only use cobweb loads in fully supported chambers.
  11. For a decent cost savings, I bought 'black bullets' from Precision Bullets and Master Blaster back in the day. I guess from what I've read, masterblaster isn't around anymore, but Precision still is. Buy as much as you can to get a better cost savings. At first, I purchased a small amount to test if I could make an accurate and reliable load with my pistol. Once I got that out of the way, I placed an order for 10K. Accuracy was excellent and they didn't seem any more dirty than shooting CMJs from montana gold. If you're shooting a 1911/2011, make sure you can easily load and empty your chamber if you plan on loading long. The diameter of the bullets are slightly larger than fmjs. My bullets were getting stuck on the landings when I released the slide on my 2011. I had to send the barrel in to a smith to get it free bored. Hope this helps.
  12. Curious what kind of accuracy you were getting out of the M&P .40 with your loads at 25 yards. I'm also big on the importance of accuracy and I've been throwing around the idea of a M&P 40pro to shoot production with minor loads or limited with major. I've read a lot about the pro 9mm accuracy issues but not much about the .40.
  13. I used to reload 1K rounds at a time, leaving the 650 press untouched for weeks. When I ran dry, I would just pick up where I left off. Just to be safe (paranoid), I would keep a cap on the shell that just received a throw of powder to make sure the same amount of powder was there when I came back. Oh yeah, and don't forget your upstroke to seat your primer before you leave so you know it's a down-stroke every time you come back. Helps to have auto-indexing press. If you have a manual indexing press, be extra diligent on checking your cases before starting again. Hell, leave a big note to yourself on the bench to remind yourself where you left off. If you have a long enough hiatus, don't forget to clean the cobwebs first.
  14. Yes, very much sothis. Depending on what you're shooting, you'll want to play around with powder load, bullet type, OAL,etc. All of these things are variables you cannot control with factory ammo. Especially if you're planning on shooting .40. If you're shooting a 1911/2011 you can go for a longer OAL for improved feeding and less case pressure. If you're shooting minor, you can make bunny fart loads in .40. There are places on the interweb to purchase tailored rounds. More expensive than loading your own of course plus $$$ for shipping.
  15. Thanks for the info guys. Zeljkolucic, are those tactical or aggressive micropockets? Is that a full stainless build?
  16. Beautiful pistols guys!! ZeljkoLucic, is that an example of the tactical or aggressive micropockets? And to both of you, what made you guys decide on the standard dust cover? Was the balance better for a 5.4" sight tracker or did you just want a lighter pistol? I've been drooling over the 5.4" trackers with a butler cut dust cover but y'all got me thinkin.
  17. No problem. Let us know how that works out for you.
  18. I was just reading up in this myself. Here's a more recent thread with answers from the horses mouth... http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=158500
  19. Wow! Great news! And only the umteenth time I've heard it! Oh, nice to know. Please let me know the next time you hear about it.
  20. Copied from PV's Facebook page... Great news for the Vihtavuori lovers. Meeting with the good folks from Lapua and it has been announced that Nammo has purchased the Vihtavuori plant. At least 4 powder containers will arrive this year with promised improvements in production capacity for future years!
  21. Not that I'm a big Natalie Cole fan, but the commercials have pretty much killed "this will be" for me.
  22. My favorite pistol is a 1911 worked over by them. Yes, GREAT guys to deal with. I wish they were still doing pistol work.
  23. I have the same rifle. Just double checked and there's no side to side movement of the upper on the lower. JP customer service is great. Glad to hear they're taking care of you. I look forward to your update. Please let us know how long the turnaround was. Thanks!
  24. Just a heads up to anyone interested. I saw that palmetto state armory has the JM pro 930 24" 10 round in stock right now for a pretty sweet price. Just thought I'd pass it along to this forum since I hear of how hard they are to come by.
  25. For that budget and with the rebates to be had right now, definitely go with the Nikon D7000. You can grab it new for just under 1K at bhphoto. I can go into specifics, but save your time and take my word for it. This coming from a guy who has tried one too many DSLRs and read one too many reviews.
