  1. Just picked up a new 85 Combat and want to order the necessary parts from CGW prior to taking it to my gunsmith. I am looking to improve the trigger as much as possible but I am not overly concerned with making the trigger extremely light as I would rather just have a nice crisp, clean breaking trigger. I do want to keep the gun Production/SSP legal. With that said, what would you guys recommend in addition to the typical polishing? Thanks in advance.
  2. I am running the stainless guide rod from Speed Shooters and an 11lb recoil spring.
  3. Was able to try my gunsmith fit barrel for a bit on Friday night. The chamber is much tighter so I did have to shorten my COAL quite a bit, but I think with some additional time and load development it will be well worth it. I also need to swap out my sights to a thinner front as I am still using the stock Pro sights which are a bit too wide for precision shooting out to 25 IMO. 25 yards shooting off hand with 147gr Xtreme over 3.1gr TG loaded to 1.115 OAL. First match last night. Little two stage indoor match. If you know competition shooting, you know Morgan Allen, and you also know second to him is really a win for an average Joe like me.
  4. For the purposes of competition, which would you choose and why? I am comparing the regular manual safety SP-01, not the Shadow version. Either will get the CGW parts installed and polished. Just thought the 85 Combat may be a viable option with the absence of a FPB.
  5. What is your preference for sight size for the 5" Pro and 147gr bullet? I am still using the factory Pro F/O front and blacked out rear and was thinking that something a little more specific to the gun and bullet from DP may be advantageous. Thoughts?
  6. I received my 5" gunsmith barrel on Friday but haven't had a chance to get it fitted yet. Anyone had a chance to shoot one yet? Curious as to the performance.
  7. I have never seen a Shadow without a thumb safety. I think you must be thinking of a decocker, however, neither the Shadow or 85 Combat have a decocoker.
  8. FWIW..I ordered a stock Shadow from the CZC, ordered all of the CGW Upgrades, had local gunsmith install all of the parts and do the polishing. It has a significantly better trigger both DA and SA than my buddies' Shadow Custom from CZC for about the same money. YMMV however
  9. I considered that option but I hate to spend $18 to have a magazine numbered. I have no issue with the factory MG base pads so I see no added benefit to the SP base pads outside of having them numbered. Am I missing something?
  10. What is the best way that you guys have found to number your magazines? I have tried the Sharpie on the base pads but after one dry fire session it has rubbed off.
  11. Soooooo.....the club that you went to was unorganized and not prepared for the IDPA match and you blame IDPA? Do you also blame the NFL when the Cleveland browns suck on Sunday?
  12. The stock Shadow is great, but it only gets better when you add the custom parts and start tuning.
  13. Order the stainless guide rod from CGW as well. Only $22

    Carry Optic P09

Which optic do you guys think most will prefer for this class? Looks like the C-More stuff gets the most talk.
  15. And one of my SP-01 Shadow. Absolutely love this gun!
  16. Newly acquired P-01. It is currently at the gunsmith who is installing all of the CGW goodies, competition sights, and all the internal polishing. Will be my CCP gun for IDPA next year.
  17. Great write up! I have often wondered how much difference there was. Thanks for sharing! Mind sharing how much the CGW set you back as you have it listed? Just curious.

    85 Combat

That was my thoughts as well. While I am still a novice with the CZ platform I see the 85C as a great value to get into the platform without having to deal with the FPB.

    85 Combat

Why doesn't more people use the 85 Combat in competition? It obviously doesn't have the dust cover that the SP-01 has so it lacks a little nose weight but I would think it would still be a good option. Am I missing something?
  20. It was a huge issue with my SP-01 Shadow. I ended up removing a slight bit of material from the inside of the mag release and all is well. All mags drop free now. Finally!!!
  21. Not sure about the PCR but I know that my P-01 will not fit in my SP-01 holster. The P-01 is definitely wider.
  22. JamisonMcCollister it sounds like you and I are almost building the same gun at the same time. I just picked my P-01 up Saturday and plan to call David @ CGW later today to order parts for the Pro Package as well as a set of sights. I ordered my VZ grips on Saturday. Should be a great IDPA CCP gun once complete.
  23. I would agree but the same thing happens when gun is at slide lock. No rounds in the mag to be dragged forward.
