  1. Interesting, and still a little confusing. I'm not sure how I feel about shooting into a "B" class. On the Melody Line, it was the sixth classifier of the day, been out in the sun all day, nothing to eat and my buddy is rushing me to finish so we can leave and get home to eat. So, without thinking and feeling good about how I had been shooting all day, I listen to the beep, turn, and hose the targets. 3 mikes and a number of deltas out of 12 shots caused me to come close to zeroing the stage. I was shooting high on the tall targets and missing high on the low targets. Oh, well. At least we got home and got the grill going! I'm still trying to get comfortable with everything, but I'm meeting some GREAT people at the range and meeting some GREAT people on this forum. Thanks again guys, gotta go start practicing with some dry fire drills! J
  2. I don't have any on file at USPSA. I have only applied for a membership since last month's match. I think these 6 are the first that will be submitted.
  3. Firstly, a huge thanks to everyone on this great forum. I"ve learned SO MUCH in the last few months! I'm certainly addicted! I started shooting USPSA in January after buying a gun in November. I had never heard of USPSA until December when we went to a local range where "those guys run and shoot at targets." I liked what I saw and decided to try it for myself. I've been shooting tin cans and paper targets my entire life, but have never done any kind of formal or competitive shooting prior to my first match in January. Each of the matches in Jan., Feb., and March had one classifier, but this month's match consisted of 6 classifiers so the unclassified people could get classified easily. I recently joined USPSA, but I'd like to know what to expect. Now, on to my question: I THINK that the 4 highest of these 6 scores are used for initial classification, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Is this correct? Lightening and Thunder CM 09-09 66.6857% Both Sides Now #2 CM 99-16 74.8635% Night Moves CM 99-02 63.2501% Diamond Cutter CM 09-02 70.8631% Lefty's Revenge CM 99-27 41.2276% Melody Line CM 99-08 10.7796% These percentages based on my hit factors came from www.classifiercalc.com According to this, If all six scores were used, my average would be 54.6116%, or a C But if the top four scores were used, my average would be 68.9156%, or a B Am I correct in thinking that the top 4 are used? I've been to the USPSA site, looked at the FAQs, yada, yada, yada, but still am confused. Thanks in advance for the help. J
  4. I Know This Topic Is Old, But I Had The Same Problem You Did Using Hornady One Shot. I Continually Had Stuck Cases And Problems Sizing Cases. I Followed Many Peoples Advice And Tried The Imperial Sizing Wax, And Not Only Did It Work Great, There Is A Huge Cost Savings.
  5. Great Choice! I've Had One For About 15 Years And I Love It. This Is A Great press And A Little Easier To Work On Issues Since You Manually Advance The shellplate. Be Prepared To Enjoy It For Years To Come, These Things Are Built To Last. Enjoy!
  6. You Just Got Me Motivated To Go Start On Mine. Thanks!
  7. Don't The Aluminum Cases Have NR On The Head? People Havent Figured Out What It Means?...Just Wondering.
  8. Surely not the same powder - Varget is single-based and manufactured by ADI, R-15 is double-based and made by Alliant. R-15 tends to run slower in most 223 and 308 loads with heavy bullets. Mark You Beat Me To It. Varget And RL15 Look And Smell Different And Require Different Loads In Both My 308 And 223S They Are Both Great Powders Though, Just Not The Same.
  9. Starting With A Slower Pistol Powder Like Power Pistol Should Get You Where You Want To Go. Keep In Mind That You Have A Limited Amount Of Space To Work With And You Dont Want To Create A Compressed Load. And Im Assuming You Have A Chrono........Right? Keep A Close Eye For Pressure Signs, And Go Slow Working Up The Loads.
  10. Yep. I Think I Actually Used A Small Pair Of Pliers On The End Of A Long Allen Wrench. They Definitely Were Not Placed To Be Accessed On A Regular Basis. But After Tightening Once In 15 Years, Im Not Complaining.
  11. Glad You Got It Fixed. Looking Back, I Think I Should Have Put A Little Loctite On The Screws To Keep Them In Place.
  12. Mine Just Loosened This Weekend. I Was Able To Tighten The Two Screws Underneath That Holds The Plate In Place. I Didnt Realize Those Two Screws Were There And My Press Is About 15 Years Old. I Began Having Problems Sliding Cases Into The Shellplate, Started Checking, And This Was My Problem.
  13. I Have This Holster. You Can Not Knock It Out By Walking. The Only Way To Get It Out Is Like You Said, Lifting It Up, Or Jumping Up And Down So That The Weight Of The Pistol Is No Longer On/In The Holster. That's Also The Beauty Of This Design. It Makes for One Super Draw. I Also Always Put The Lock Back On After Each Stage Just In Case I Run Into A Table Or Post ThatLifts The Pistol. Keep Playing With It, It'll Grow On You And Youll Get More Confident With Its Retention.
  14. It Also Varies With The Type Of Powder. Ball Powder Doesn't Seem To Settle as Much As Flake Powder. Throw 3-5 Charges, Dump, Measure, And Roll on.
  15. That Would Be My First Step Too. THEN Trying A Set Of Lee Dies. Ive Never Had An Issue With Glock Brass Using Lee Dies.
  16. I Just Bought A 5.25" In 40 Cal. I've Loaded About 50 180Gr Lead To Factory Length Over 3.2 Gr N310 For Minor Loads. I Also Use A 14Lb Spring And No Problems So Far. Same With About 200 180Gr Berrys.
  17. I Also Noticed That Unmodified, It Doesn't Like Remington Primers, But CCIs Work Great. I Still Think I'm Going To Open Up The Drop Hole A Little So All Brands Work Well.
  18. Just Yesterday Found 1k For $42. I Bought Them, Now Wishing I Had Bought 2.
  19. Also Try Some N310. Almost No Smoke With Lead
  20. I Like 2.8Gr Of N310 Under A 180Gr Lead Loaded To 1.135. Very Soft Shooting And Very Clean.
  21. Pad Same Service Here. I Haven't Ordered Or Needed The Leg Pad Yet.
  22. I received my VP last week and I too was disappointed for the first 10 minutes. Then I realized that by tipping my VP forward a little, it started working great. I also don't use the VP tubes, I just hold the Dillon tubes under the main unit and let the primers drop directly in. Sounds like I got a good one. Sorry you guys are having so many problems.
