  1. Brazos will ship non-list guns to California? Wouldn't post that publicly. Cali DOJ has busted people on Calguns. Well I believe they ship to CA because not everyone has to obey roster laws. Believe it or not even after this whole sse thing goes down, shelves will still be stocked with non list guns, they will just be LEO only
  2. I'll +1 to what was said above. I wanted a setup a little different than what Kevin had on the site. A quick email to him and he cleared my questions up and shipped my order out. He has even fulfilled an order last minute to get it in the mail for an upcoming match 3 days later. Might be a fanboi or whatever, I call it supporting the good ol american spirit, Kevin embodies that of the American entrepreneur. He produces a quality product, stands behind it 100%, and goes above and beyond for his customers. I have 3 2.8's, a 2.6, and his holster hanger and I couldn't be happier.
  3. I would contact Noveske Customer service. I don't think anyone at that facility would tell you 3.5 moa is acceptable. John would have a fit (RIP), and Tim Dillon would too. I have many noveske rifles, they are stupid accurate, sub MOA when I do my part. Their customer service is awesome... Call them up, they will get you straightened out.
  4. Awesome... Side note... anyone know of railed 2011 platforms besides the Marauder and the Tactical 5.0?
  5. See that is what i was wondering... I have patience, but the state of CA seems to be making it hard. Where did you get your 2011's?
  6. So I was thinking about this, my question is, frames... I know frame to slide kits are nice and smooth, but am I better buying raw frames and having a smith fit them down the road when I know what I want?
  7. So I am really torn, I have been shooting 3-Gun a lot and I'm just getting into a little USPSA. I live in CA so now I have 76 days to get whatever handguns I want that are not on the asinine CA Approved Roster. I have been shooting a Glock 35 that has another 600 in go fast parts from Zev, and have been generally happy. I like .40 cal mainly cause its what I shot when I wore a uniform. It also seems to get those stupid MGM spinners over a little quicker. But now I want a 2011. I need a better trigger and less recoil to take my shooting another step up. I have a couple single stack 1911's so I am pretty comfortable with the platform and making the transition for 3-gun. So here is my question, I want a 2011 in 9mm (someone please tell me if I should really be getting .40) full size, Limited configuration, with a light rail (I shoot occasional night matches.) This basically leaves me with a STI Tactical 5.0 or one of the Para built (armscore, RIA, etc.) The price on the Armscore guns is nice, but I know after buying it I will just want an STi or SVi and since the window to get these guns in CA legally is closing, Buy once cry once... But no one seems to have them in stock, so I started looking used to see if I could get one sooner. However it seems not many people have them on the used market. So I guess my question lies with where is a good place to look for used (but reliable and honest) options since getting a new one before the deadline is probably impossible. I'd really like to keep the initial purchase under 2K since I will have to jump through another $200-300 in CA "hoops" and then magazines... CA throws me another couple curveballs there too. Input is appreciated
  8. So I have a slick side DPMS lo pro upper that I have been wanting to build a 20"+ gun with maybe even in a wildcat cartridge. Probably going to be a varmit/long range gun... I think I found my direction for this build
  9. Triangle Shooting Sports are super reasonable on pricing. For under $200 they will have it eating shells.
  10. Yeah i think it's 8.something... 8.5 is the min, and 10.5 is better. I own a .300blk pistol and it is a riot to shoot, however... I am not all that impressed with 5.56 out of 14.5 or less. Sorry, I know that makes a bunch of people all butthurt... I carried a MK18 for 4 years, it maneuvered well in tight places, bulkheads, etc. But given the opportunity, I'll take a longer barrel any day.
  11. Ahhh, as alway Mr Kelley you again have shed more light on the discussion... I really love your write ups!
  12. Its flat... really flat... weight is relative to what you are used to. I have a rifle with the Rainier Mini Comp which is as small and light as comps get (fairly effective too.) The dragon feels like a beast comparatively. But I would say it strikes a good balance of weight and effectiveness. Remember its a 3 chamber... most 3 chambers are in the 2.8-4.5oz range, so at 3.2oz comes in the middle. Compared to say my SF MB556K, its lighter and flatter with a little more length. I think that is a good benchmark for the Dragon. This is coming from someone who has not shot the seekins or SJC Titan, or whatever the latest "3gun" comp that is out is. But in my limited rounds and testing, my seat of the pants dyno" would say that this is a very good comp and plays ball with the other comps available at the price point. If you get one on sale (as I did) $99 seems like money well spent so far. I believe the retail is around $150 which starts putting it in "premium" territory with tough competition. However at or around the $100-$125 mark, I think its worth the money.
  13. Dcloudy nailed it. I too am not a fantastic shooter, and was struggling with this as well. I did a routine similar to this and I have managed to normally stay quick on the cqb stuff. I come from a more precision background so I was never as quick as I would like because I tend to shoot more "accurately." I do not intend to say that speed and accuracy can't be one in the same. I just lingered on my shots longer than I should. Basically grouping tight little clusters vs just getting two hits. I might add, that I practiced this same technique only starting with my .22 upper. The no perceived recoil got my confidence up and allowed me to run 500 rounds a session. Then when i got really fast with the .22, then I'd run it centerfire. Made the practice more worthwhile... at least for me. I still slow down in matches a bit, but it did help me move up a few spots in the standings lately.
  14. I just got one, so not a whole lot of shooting data to compare. But seat of the pants it feels like it works as advertised. In rapid fire is where it shines, single shots feel like any other quality comp/brake. Granted I only have 250 rounds through mine, but so far I'm happy.
  15. So true. I remember when my friends looked at me funny (even the ones who shoot) when they found out how much my 3gun shotgun, rifle and pistol cost. I think I probably spend 3 times the cost of the guns on ammo and match fees per year. The gun is the cheapest part of the equation, by leaps and bounds
  16. .300blk burns 100% of it's powder within 9" of barrel (its actually a little less.) I run a 10.5 Noveske barrel with pistol gas that I have been very happy with. The round drops a bit at distance, but know your holds and it does quite well. I ring the steel flashers at my local club at 500 yards with ease. I wouldn't run any shorter than 8.5" just because you are giving up velocity and burn rate. The .300blk was designed around a 9" barrel with pistol gas.
  17. I agree with everything said here... lots of good information... I run a Vmax COMP Tactical and I have to say... not a hiccup. People talked a bunch about how you still had to spend a few hundred here and there for port work and such... all and all this as been the most reliable gun I have owned with a crazy mix of shells. Granted I have only put 9K rounds through it, but so far it has gone boom every time, it has been dead accurate with slugs and buck, and I think it improved my splits a bit due to the fact that it is so soft shooting. For the cost of it I could have run and bought an M2 and sent it out, but instead I can immediately pick my gun out on the rack of the "Sea of B" and I have not a single doubt in my mind that when I pull the trigger it will go boom and advance the next round... just my .02 ( which is worth much less)
  18. Dude Jesse, I'm dying right now... That being said Kevin is seriously the best guy in the business right now... I love his stuff... been running a bunch of the 2.8's for a while and a 2.6 for a month or so. The part that sucks is now I'm gonna have to order more stuff from him
  19. I love some sporting clays... it sure humbles me. My local Trap club has quarterly "turkey" shoots for a fundraiser. You pay $5 per round, winners get a turkey. There is also the Prime Rib elimination. 60 0r 70 guys line up and do an elimination round. You call pull and shoot the bird, you miss next guy gets a chance to hit and if he does you're out. Really is a good time. I sometimes will shoot my 3 gun shotgun out there for giggles, but the longer rib on my O/U definitely helps me hit the moving birds a little better
  20. Smith Aegis Echo, way better than my old oakley M frames.
  21. I haven't used either, but my buddy runs the DR and likes it a lot. I have been running the Rainier Mini Comp (which is awesome for its size and weight) but switched to a Rainier RAC, Basically just adds another port. I have been extremely happy with the RAC. I did however just get a Lantac Dragon, and I don't have any trigger time with it yet, but a lot of reviews are saying its pretty flat.
  22. So true... as someone who consistently is mid pack, I always know I can shoot better... but I didn't... So I shut the f up and listen to those who are better/more versed/consistent and I learn. I learned that the 3-gun community is one of the best in competitive sports... very rarely will competitors lend a hand to someone in direct competition in other sports just because... I see it almost every weekend here... it humbles me constantly
  23. Yep, which is exactly why I ditched it. I think for bigger guys its not as much of an issue, but I barely have a 32" waist, so real estate is already a precious thing, and it just never fit me all that well, either too loose or too tight and biting into my hips.
  24. It still has an inner and outer using velcro, but the outer has much less velcro surface area to attach and uses two little metal studs that go through the holes on the belt... instead of say a nice big long piece of velcro that has plenty of surface area of loop material. This picture shows it pretty well
