  1. +10,000 Maybe if I belonged to the club I could at least get to vote on things like this that effect us all, oh, wait, never mind. Review reminded me, do you folks tightly police "hands and arms naturally at sides" ?
  2. I took an "introduction to shooting sports" class as soon as I found one. That was after shooting some matches but if there is local instruction to get things started right I think it would be good to work with a better shooter asap. I would not go to a high dollar big name class, the one that I went to was $40 for an afternoon with a skilled local shooter 6-8 other beginners. If you do not have good basics, grip, stance, etc, I think you are best served trying to start out with good habits. I also reccomend reading Brian's book, some of it will be a bit deep at first but there is good stuff in there for the beginner as well.
  3. Prior preparation prevents poor performance . I love the maximum freedom of choice stages and the process of figuring things out. Not arguing, I appreciate that others may feel differently, it is likely good that different matches tend to follow different philosophies and favor different skill sets. My "annoying" is the stages with no good options and a 40 yard dash for no particular reason.
  4. I've got DAA & shooters connection. For me they both work fine, I would likely tend to buy whatever is cheapest if I needed a replacement. Racers & race master mag pouches are attached to my DAA along with a Boss holster hanger. The belts will compress a bit when you tighten the screws but it takes a bit of time, might tighten screws till they feel right and then repeat again the next day.
  5. If I had girl hands I would have kept the one I bought.
  6. With Tanfo's and CZ's you learn about using slave pins for the sear cage and installing the trigger. Lots of good how to info out there, I agree, you will manage.
  7. Seems like when Obama got elected and the gun shelves emptied some companies couldn't resist the temptation to do what it takes to fill demand. Not just STI. Me too!
  8. Need to figure out a bullet that will work well in that gun at power factor low enough that I am not giving away a whole lot to the 9mm's. Am a bit fussy about accuracy. Any suggestions?
  9. Baer. He refers to them as supported instead of ramped, not sure which lingo is most common. Interesting question. Is the frame on a ramped barrel gun cut for the ramp or does it start out life already dimensioned for it ?
  10. Dang, 5.4 ounces heavier? Below is from the USPSA production list. Stock II 44 oz. Stock II (Witness Elite Stock II 47.6 oz. Stock II L 4.93" barrel 9mm 9X21 49.4 oz.
  11. I only know 1 person that does that, but he is obvious about it and shoots a lot of major matches as B class open. It is cheating in my opinion, I hate to be around it and I hate when new shooters see it.
  12. Could be that smooth is fast in this case. Half speed with no missed bullets, or fewer missed bullets, or more consistency between hopper full and hopper low, might win?
  13. Still haven't done this with my match gun since putting in all the PD goodies, not a ridiculous number of rounds on it but probably 20,000 ish and most of that with titegroup which is thought to be dirty. Really, after you get through what can be considerable new gun pains I am not seeing a reason for anything special regarding maintenance except that I need to clean around the extractor area about every 5000 rounds. Have switched to power pistol powder so I am curious to see if the extractor area will still get gummed up. Hammer springs weaken over time and I have had to install a couple of them.
  14. I seem to get more consistent oal with that die after taking the spring out. I talked it over with Redding and they suggested giving that a try. Not needed if you do not run bare lead or coated bullets I suspect.
  15. It would be interesting to try and find out what happened after the gun was assembled. It is hard to imagine someone assembling the gun with dirty parts. That is a choice not an affliction. Not ragging on you if you choose not to fix it, but it is rewarding and eventually people you know will start to think you are smarter than you are because you can fix things and know how to attack problems. I think the first rule is do not try to push through a job when you are mad at it, fix the mad at it part and then go back and look at what you are doing.
  16. It may be a bit like putting high gloss paint on drywall, allows imperfections to jump out that otherwise do not matter.
  17. Didn't see any mention of coating for the orange. https://www.czub.cz/en/produkty/pistole/competition/cz-shadow-2-orange.html
  18. Just have one old frame gun. It seemed to be the worst mess dimensionally when making all the PD competition parts fit, also the opening for the magazine also had a very visible lump in one side as if something went a little sideways during casting, was surprised that QC let the gun ship with it looking like it did. It still works though after fiddling and I planned to open up the mag opening anyway so no big deal. Not sure if this is a typical thing or just an anomaly. You would have expected them to try and improve any weakness's in the frames when they went to revision 2, do not know if this is a thing either.
  19. Hee hee. This was interesting trivia I thought though https://www.quora.com/What-colour-is-plastic-before-any-dye-is-added .
  20. Same here. Have recently switched to sport pistol but the Dillon containers have spent many months partially full of titegroup.
  21. Interesting. Wonder why Hornady does not make tubes out of a plastic as non reactive as the plastic used to make the containers we buy & store powder in?
  22. That would work. For me it is easier to take a bit of metal off of the top of the safety instead of the bottom of the sear.
  23. Patriot shows them in stock (no pun intended) for $915. Best price I've seen. I may have misled. When I decided I was interested in the LP I called EAA and they told me they had decided not to continue to import them, do not remember for sure if they said why or if I just assumed it was sales volume.
  24. Low sales volume. As fate would have it they gave it up about the same time that Alex Gutt won the production nationals with that gun so supply waned while interest peaked. We are a weird bunch, the Stock 3's are just as good as the 2's and limited pro but do not seem to get as much love.
  25. Thinking about selling my brass feeder or my mbf. Used to enjoy building up a stockpile of ammo before warm weather came back. Now the experience is over so quick it is not even a thing, and I'm wondering why worry about it since I can always catch up quick if I need to.
