  1. Food for thought: the reason a long slide (4.75" barrel) shoots smoother than a compact slide (3.6" barrel) is the longer recoil system, but the recoil system of a 6" Tanfo is the same length as the long slide. At some length you reach the point of diminishing returns and more recoil system just takes longer to cycle. Notice many of the 6" 2011s out there have the same length recoil systems as their 5" counterparts. Even the CZ TS uses a recoil system which doesn't go all the way to the muzzle. The nice thing about a 6" barrel is the extra velocity although I found with fast powder the effect is not as drastic as going from a 4" barrel to a 5" barrel in an Open gun burning slow powder.
  2. I shot the Hunter in a steel match and found it too long and nose heavy; it might be better with significant lightening at the nose, but the Limited is a sweet shooter.
  3. Hey, these guys are 20 min from my house! I had no idea.
  4. It's astounding that CZ75 pattern pistols have dominated the Production division for this long and there are still ROs who don't even know the proper starting position. I brought a couple of new shooters to a match and I had to get out the .pdf rulebook on my phone to show the RO that "cocked and locked" what not the legal starting position for a DA/SA pistol in Production.
  5. If I wanted to shed weight off my Match I would machine it out of the inside of the rail.
  6. There's a thread in here somewhere on milling off the rail.
  7. The top is the one imported to the US by EAA, I have one like the middle which was not imported by EAA and bears no markings from EAA which I got from a fellow member here (I have no idea where it came from) and I've seen only pictures of the bottom one; I think it was on the slate to be imported under the IFG name (same owners as EAA), but that was a failure to launch... I know there were some Bud's customers who though they were ordering the bottom one but got something else because of mixed up part numbers/pictures on their website.
  8. That's the trouble with CZs and Tanfos: I bought a TS and a Limited thinking I would keep the best and sell the other but I can't pick so I have to keep them both!
  9. Yes, less than mind blowing... If I'm thinking of the right comp it doesn't have much in the way of top ports does it? Here's a video of my Open gun with 100 grain bullets and 9.3gr of HS6: They crono'ed right at 1,650 fps. Unfortunately the minimum bullet weight for Major in USPSA is 112gr, but they make a great steel load.
  10. I set up a Match with that comp: It needs light bullets and lots of slow burning powder to work. Are you shooting 9mm or .38 Sup? I'm working on another Tanfo with Dawson's Awesome Comp which should be up and running by Christmas; keep an eye on The Chop Shop for the write up. It'll look something like this:
  11. They have a great return policy too! Which comp did you get? I've tried them all
  12. You really should have let me know, I wouldn't have bid against you Enjoy the pistol and let us know how it shoots with those holes and the big port.
  13. Maybe it's because I have a bigish hand, but the rest of my grip doest really change when I loop the trigger guard, I just get my weak hand higher on the pistol.
  14. I can't tell you much about the striker fired pistols because I'm not a big fan, but if you're going to get a hammer fired steel pistol for Limited I would look at the Tactical Sport or a Tanfoglio Limited.
  15. I've altered the slide stop rather than the follower.
  16. My weak hand index finger tends to find its way to the front of the trigger guard.
  17. I have a few questions: - is your XD 4" your only pistol? - is there a reason you don't shoot it in Production? - do you shoot USPSA primarily for the competition? Or to become more proficient with your HD gun?
  18. correct Yea I hear you guys like your 230s to stick in the cardboard so you can collect them up and reuse them
