  1. I know you already chose the Para, but I still want to add me 2 cents: I know all the cool kids shoot STIs, but I don't think you're giving up your potential to make GM shooting a TS, not in function, reliability nor in performance. If it fits your hand and you like the ergonomics the TS is a fantastic value: right out of the box you get a sub 2# trigger which is very crisp and an action which runs like a raped ape then with off the shelf pads and followers you get 21 in the mag reloadable. 2011 guys, is there a place to buy reliable 21+1 mags off the shelf? if so, how much?
  2. You can see in the last picture I only cut about a quarter inch at the top then angled back at 18 degrees to about a half inch. Just enough to expose the 18 degree angle on the comp. The cool part I didn't plan on is when the barrel cams back with the slide open the two cuts match up:
  3. I shot this one today and I really love it I might ever shoot Limited this month!?!
  4. This is not my pistol just a stock photo from Bud's, I do not have a blank comp at this time, but what I have done is welded up the port on a one port comp, drilled it out and re tapped it (now it just needs to be ground smooth and a front sight dovetail cut in....): This one is really just to practice my dovetail cutting skills before i cut the port off this longer comp: This is what the TS sight tracker will look like when I'm done: I already cut the dust cover back:
  5. Yes, a safety off a Stock II will fit a Limited. I'd be happy to trade you
  6. Are you sure that's not the case right now? Have you checked? In order for the buffer to work as intended the recoil spring has to go to full compression before the slide impacts the frame, but due to the differences in coil diameter and spring manufacturer that may not be happening even with the buffer in place. If you're curious, assemble the pistol with no recoil spring, pull the slide all the way to the rear and measure the distance between the front of the slide and the end of the dust cover, then install the spring/buffer/guide rod and try again, is the distance shorter? if so, by how much?
  7. Every trigger/sear/hammer combination breaks at a different place and the the screw is there to remove any over travel you may have, but it sounds like you don't have any, so take it out.
  8. I love it!If he wasn't dying to shoot the Open gun we wouldn't be having this conversation right? So I guess the real question is for you: what causes you to hesitate to let him shoot Open? If you're worried about safety, I suggest you stay home and work on safety; a gun is a gun and no one wants to get shot; Minor or Major. But I don't suspect it's safety you're worried about. Are you afraid he won't burn down the stage with the Masters? because he won't in either division. Maybe that your peers will disapprove? Personally I really enjoy shooting Open and I have seen a lot of important fundamentals start to click since picking it up; I'm calling shots much better and shooting on the move. In the beginning I thought shooting Production would make me better because it would 'force' me to reload and would punish poor stage planning; I frequently tanked stages and would frequently drive home frustrated. Now I drive home with a smile more often
  9. The buffer causes the slide to short stroke and causes failures to feed in the .40, don't know about the nine (yet )
  10. Remove factory shock buffer
  11. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=187929 Nevermind, that's the CR Speed.
  12. Measure the coil diameter, they might just be from different suppliers.
  13. If you want the skinny on fitting a TS upper to a standard frame, look no further than Tortuga here! He did a TS slide on a SA frame.
  14. Yeah, I was thinking of something that used the czechmate pattern, that way I'm set if I ever want to make it an open gun. Thanks That's what I did
  15. You have to machine the slide, frame or both.
  16. Of all the thumb rests I've tried I like the $17 one for airsoft the best! What bolt pattern will you choose? something to think about before you drill holes in you prized pistol
  17. The 9mm SA slide has a tapered muzzle and a 12.75mm OD barrel like the 75B in 9mm (unlike the 14mm OD barrels of the 9mm Shadows and SP01s) I already swapped the Shadow Target Upper onto my SP01 frame and will be using the SP01 slide for my Small Frame Czechmate The P01 barrel is a one lug 12.75" barrel; I learned from the compact Witness upper you gave me that one lug just isn't enough for 9Major , I put the barrel out to greener pastures, but I do plan to use the slide for a compact sight tracker like you're talking about. I ended up getting a second compact upper off EBay which turned out to use a two lug barrel, so the Tanfo Shorty Open is alive and well!
  18. I use an SP01 slide with a TS barrel and a small frame Witness three port comp (I've opened up the first port): But this weekend I'll be working on this little project: I have a Czechmate comp I'm going to fit to a Shadow Target SA
  19. How many rounds fit in a single stack 170mm mag?!?
