  1. Yes, I shoot mostly small frame CZ and Tanfoglio Open guns, so the max is ~1.165"; once I get my large frame Tanfo up and running I might try some .38 super mags and load some 1.2"+ I really only played around a little with Longshot because I had a friend who needed WST so I traded for a pound. I have a bunch of SP2 and HS6 which works really well @ 1.15".
  2. If you want to shoot minor you'll need the lightest spring which will strip the next round out of the mag. The comp adds weight to the barrel as well as keeping the action locked up longer, dissipating more energy which would be used to cycle the slide. Unfortunately powder is still hard to get and the comp will have very little effect until you get a slow powder up around 150PF. Open minor is tough because you need gas to work the comp. The best way to do it would be to use a case full of powder which is a little too slow to make major like Longshot or N105. The other way to go with Open steel is to remove the comp and shoot mouse farts with a dot. I load 3gr of Clays under 115s for a PF under 100, an 8# recoil spring and the light bullets keep the action moving fast, but it's very soft; the dot just bounces from one piece of steel to the next Now if you want to shoot Major with your Glock you'll want to find one of a select group of powders: HS6, Autocomp, Silhouette, 3n38.
  3. Gump, if you have Eric's hammer out of the gun at the same time as a standard hammer, try stacking them to see if the holes line up, I'd love to know.
  4. I need help identifying this mag tube: It looks like a small frame Tanfoglio mag, but it has ribs on the outside to hold it in a large frame magwell, just not Tanfoglio. It measures 1.305" x 0.900" Thanks for your help.
  5. Come out at the end of the month, I've shot USPSA at Iron Sights, Pala, Norco and Prado; Pala is my favorite by far!
  6. If you're using the stock plastic magwell (or the CZ UB magwell) I think you use the medium grips, CZ Custom mag well needs the short grips and long are for no magwell.
  7. All these San Diego CZ fans?!? I'll be shooting Pala USPSA on the 28th and Oceanside Fun Steel on the 3rd with trgt and his Czechmate. Look for me and one of my custom CZ Open guns (not sure which one yet )
  8. I actually have one on the way, thanks for reminding me to close out the thread.
  9. Why a light? Why not some other Picatinny accessory? Maybe something like this:
  10. No, the pin holes are bigger for Tanfoglio, but you can drill them out.
  11. I'm interested in a 9mm Limited upper (cone barrel); I have a .45 Limited upper (cone barrel) and a .40 Limited upper (straight barrel) to offer in trade. I also have mags for both, let me know if you're interested.
  12. Did you polish the sides of the hammer and the corresponding spots on the frame? the hammer strut? inside the pin holes? Of those primers I've only used WSP and I didn't get any light strikes with the 11.5# hammer spring, are you seating them all the way?
  13. I've done 1,652fps with Xtremes and saw no problems. I shoot mostly 115s for 9 Major and really like them; I've worked up loads of the same PF with 115s and 124s, shot them mixed in a mag and the difference is subtle, but the 124s are softer with a slower impulse. Gas is the fuel which works the comp, the more powder the more gas, the flatter the gun shoots, so I don't know why anyone would load 7.6gr when they could use the lighter bullet and load 8.8gr? Each powder has it's own point of diminishing returns and I've found that with SP2 @ ~1.150 it's ~9.5gr, after than more powder = less velocity; with Longshot it's around 8.3gr which is barely major if you're lucky anf it's LOUD
  14. There seems to be a group of Open shooters very concerned with "compressed loads" and another which is not. Over the last two years I have done extensive load testing and have not had a single issue filling the case close to the rim with slow powder and pushing it down with the seated bullet. I started loading 9 Major with CCI SRP for fear of high pressures, but I saw so little flattening I stopped stocking two sets of primers and have gone to Federal SPP for everything. I pick up lots of brass at matches and see plenty with flatter primers than mine (even .40 cases...). So does anyone have a good reason not to compress powder (if you're loading 9 Major I don't think it's a question of "if" but "how much")? I have loaded as much as 10gr of SP2 in a 9x19 case with no ill effects or scary flat primers although it's pretty close to the rim
  15. Must be something wrong, I ordered 1K 6/7, they shipped 6/9
  16. Stock IIs in 9mm are rare in the states right now, Stock IIIs in 9mm are rarer and the Xtreame line are the most elusive. CZ SP-01s are easy to get right now, and SP-01 Shadows are starting to come back so I wouldn't rule out CZ; plus I have both and feel confident saying the CZs have more potential when it comes to a light, smooth trigger than their Italian counterparts. You'll see strange barrel lengths around but the full sized CZ75 pistols have 4.5" barrels as do the "standard" length Tanfoglios, while the "longslide" Tanfoglios have 4.75" barrels when measured from the breech to muzzle per SAAMI standards.
  17. I like adjustable sight, but if I cant get it to stay will have to get fixed one. How hard is it to gave ts fit to limited slide? You just need to file ~0.3mm off the dovetail.
  18. Switch to the fixed rear from a TS! Makes a bitchin' slide racker too
  19. Rich at Canyon Creek does a weld on version for the Match: http://www.shop.canyoncreekcustom.com/product.sc?productId=16&categoryId=3
  20. Below I talk about a large frame Henning mag well on a Match, small frame would take more fitting: I realize this info could be useful in the Chop Shop, so I re posted it here:
  21. Unless you're itching for a new gun, I would get started with the Match, then decide what you want to shoot. I have found switching back and forth is too much trouble and besides, once you shoot Open you'll never want to shoot Limited again . The only real difference between an Limited frame and an Open frame is the dust cover, the long dust cover on a Limited helps soak up the recoil but it just slows an Open gun down. The Hunter frame is the same as the Limited so you can do just about anything with it:
  22. Beaver, If you want to shoot Open with a Tanfoglio I suggest you go with something custom. I think EAA would charge something like $1200 for it if they ever get one in stock the market value is ~$550 if you can find one used, but they have their shortcomings... 23. I have a bunch of super sight take offs I'll sell you one for $60 and if it doesn't work you can return it for a refund minus shipping. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
