Titanium Carbo-Nitride (TiCN) coating on 2011
Maxximuss replied to Maxximuss's topic in 1911-style Pistols
None whatsoever. I shot the Cedar Valley Multigun Championship yesterday in bright sunlight, I had no problems with glare or tracking the sight with the shiny slide. -
Titanium Carbo-Nitride (TiCN) coating on 2011

That picture is a better representation of the color. You can't use a flash at all or it makes the color look too gold. It is safe to say this coating/color is camera shy. -
Titanium Carbo-Nitride (TiCN) coating on 2011

Let's put you in the next batch and we can all see a satin finish. None of us really knew how it was going to turn out, sometimes you just have to jump in head first! -

Thanks! I couldn't be happier on how they turned out. I think we will start to see more guns and parts done with this coating. -

I can't figure out how to post these pictures. I have them on my computer. We put it together and just pictures with a cell phone, so they are not great. -

None of us got the matte finish in this last batch. -

Titanium Carbo-Nitride (TiCN) coating on 2011

This is what we have learned: It is very difficult to fixture lots of small parts into the batch. The price will likely increase if you need small parts done. A batch will fit 4 guns worth of large parts (slide, frame, and barrel.) 1911 frames take up more space than 2011 frames, there can probably only be one 1911 per batch. All the parts need to go to one location (FFL) then get shipped off together to Calico. Calico will ship them back to one location (FFL) and that person will need to divide them up and ship them back to the members of the batch. You will likely be looking at $250 per person to have barrel, frame, and slide prep'd and coated. You can run the batch yourself if you want to do the leg work, if not I can try to run another batch. I am kinda like a professional cat wrangler... -
Titanium Carbo-Nitride (TiCN) coating on 2011

2 out of 4 have our parts in hand. They look amazing! The other two guys will have them by Friday. We will all post some pictures for you to see! It's hard to describe how smooth/slick the surface is with the Super-micro finish and TiCN. -
I ran probably about 5-6k Berry's bullets through my Glock 35 in the last year. I have had no problems with fouling or inaccuracy. I do run a bore snake through my barrel prior to shooting though.

In my experience, I have not seen any noticeable difference on the chronograph between SP and SR primers in CCI brand. I find it easier to just stock SR and load everything with them.

The bottom pic is Ceracoat and the top (shiny striped parts) are TiCN with the SuperMicro Finish. -

I love it! It will looks really good with black. I especially like this coating because its practical. -
Do they make a model that will fit the STI Eagle? I have seen guys run an ALS holster with a STI Tactical 2011. I heard you can't run ALS with the adjustable rear sight and need the fixed rear sight. Anyone know a model number that will work with my gun? Thanks.

I heard that the issue is with the adjustable rear sight. If you get a fixed rear sight it works.

What was the OAL for this last test? -
Just PM me if you are interested.

I am impressed with the velocities you are getting out of 4.5 grains of Bullseye. The Alliant reload data states 5.5 grains out of a 4" barrel to get 929 fps. I use 5.2 grains w/ 180 grain Berry's Bullet in my Glock 35, with a 1.140 OAL. PS I have a Lone Wolf Glock 35 barrel I will sell you for $60. I bought it new a couple years ago and decided to not use lead bullets. It has about 300 rounds through it.

Missouri Bullet 180gr with Unique and TiteGroup Results

Please keep the results coming, this is a very similar set up to mine. I personally don't think you will make major on 4.4 grains with that OAL length, but I am interested to see. -
I tested a similar load out yesterday. I have a Glock 35 4th Gen with a stock spring. I loaded 5.2 grains in both a 180 and 155 grain Berry's plated bullet. My over all length is 1.140. All of the above locked the slide back. The temperature was about 55 degrees. The 155's were obviously minor pf. The 180's were felt almost major, but I bet it needs about another tenth or two. I also hate Alliants load data. They say a 180 grain with 5.5 grains in a 4" barrel will make major, but they don't tell you min, max, or pressures. I hope this helps in some small way.

Thank you for this. It is better to see results in a controlled environment.

Thanks for the info. I have been waiting for a decent 34/35 model.

Shoot two eyes open. Learn to recognize/concentrate on the left target (if you are using your right eye to aim). My wife had this problem to begin with, she would put scotch tape on lens of her left glasses until it was fixed.

15 to 20 minutes per day. I feel like I start getting sloppy after that amount of time.
