  1. I posted this in another thread but thought it applied here, too. Bottom line is it's just a game; a competition. Most of us aren't going to win any major titles. We compete in the sport for fun. Sure, we also pick up many pistol skills. But this isn't a life or death situation. It's just a game. And gamer's are going to game it. We all want to be as competitive as we can within the rules. Other than LE or a handful of competitors, most people aren't using their carry/home defense gun as their comp gun. So the argument that CO shooters don't really carry their CO gun doesn't really matter. How many people carry their OPEN, LTD, PRD, SS, or REV? Yes, there are some that use their comp gun as their carry gun. But it's a small handful of people. The vast majority of us have dedicated comp guns, regardless of division, that while they may push the limits, they do fall within the rules. Why shouldn't CO be any different? It's a game. Gamer's are going to game it. And it's also for that reason I wish they would have just made it Production Optics instead of Carry Optics. There will be people that also carry their CO gun, but I'm guessing it won't be many. Like we do in other divisions, most of us will have a dedicated CO gun.

  3. I just can't get behind CO when we already have open division. I have always seen it that way. No it doesn't hurt me. I have been called a hater from day one yet I get chastised for joking and using WO which I copied by the way. All that does is reenergize my contempt for it. It just doesn't make sense to me when guys say open is too expensive yet I can buy 2 RTS2 for what some guys are spending on an optic to put on a $500 gun. I bought a P320 for $480, an optic mount for $42, Burris FastFire 3 for $212 delivered, Bladetech DOH for $62 and 3 additional mags for $108 delivered. I already had mag holders that fit and the belt. For $904 I'm completely set to compete in CO.
  4. Thursday night we have a one stage indoor match at a small local indoor range (because there is snow on the ground and it's too damn cold this time of year to shoot outdoors). But, we had about 40 shooters, almost all are USPSA members. When it was my turn to shoot (i shot CO for the first time ever) i couldn't believe how many people were asking "what is Carry Optics?" I bet half the shooters, USPSA members, had never heard of CO. So just knowledge that the division exists is still very low. And by the way, other than sighting in my red dot the day before, it was the first time i'd ever shot a red dot (Burris FastFire 3) and damn it was fun!
  5. So many people talking about the low number of people shooting CO in matches. It's a new division. It won't happen overnight. I'm confident as time progresses the numbers will improve significantly. As more people start to shoot CO, more people on the fence will gravitate to it.

    CZ TS Orange

I'm a looking, and i'm a liking! I Want to get one so i can relegate my CZ Tactical Sport to back up status.
  7. Wow. Remember when the regular Stock II was selling for a price higher than this Stock II Extreme?
  8. My only criticism of CO is that it would have been nice to be able to use any gun already Production approved. As it is I had to buy a gun that met weight, versus being able to use one of several PRD guns I already own that didn't make weight.
  9. Are these guys already USPSA members? Yes. The lowest class shooter is a B class PRD. And that would be me. The others gearing up are B class through M class. An Open class shooter, four Production shooters, and one Limited shooter.
  10. There are about a half a dozen guys in my area that are gearing up for CO for when the outdoor match season begins around March. Keep in mind there are a lot of area's that can't shoot matches year round. Once it warms up and the outdoor match season starts I think interest will continue to grow. I can see it becoming more popular than L10 and Rev in a few years. Just be patient and give it a few seasons to grow. It won't happen overnight.
  11. Ok. I was confused. I saw the trigger control parts on your website and thought it was drop in. Thanks for the clarification.
  12. What is the difference in drop in trigger kits of Powder River Precision vs Springer Precision?
  13. I like the idea of setting up a CZ Phantom for CO. I shoot an Accu Shadow in PRD and i like that the Phantom is extremely similar.

    new Canik TP9 SFX

Would it make weight for CO?
  15. I like seeing firearm manufacturers cater to the shooting sports. More choices, more options. I only see it as a good thing.

    Sig P320

I think the current model would be perfected by selling a competition model that would have pre installed a GGI drop in trigger kit with fiber optic front and competition rear sight. That's it.
  17. I decided to go with the Sig P320 with large full size grip. I had a Burris Fastfire 2 on it in this picture. I have a Burris FF3 on order to replace it. It's on a dovetail mount. I may eventually get the slide milled. But right now it's all stock (other than optic) and working really well. After 300 rds the trigger pull (according to 10 pulls on my RCBS trigger scale) is 7-7.5 lbs. Going to install a GGI drop in trigger kit once they are available. Would like to get the trigger around 3-4 lbs. Bruce Gray said the drop in trigger kit will debut at Shot Show this month.
  18. According to CZ USA the CZ 75B weighs 2.2 lbs, or 35.2 ounces. How would you make weight with an optic? Mill enough off the slide to make weight with an optic?
  19. CZ85Combat, are you shooting that in Open division?

    Sig P320

I've read Bruce Gray of GGI is working on a drop in trigger kit for the P320. Anyone know when this might hit the market? I bought a full size P320 9mm for Carry Optics, and I'm all set other than tweaking the trigger.
  21. Are you using a dovetail mount for the Fastfire? I ordered a dovetail mount for my Fastfire II and full size Sig P320. It's the same one used for the Beretta, Sig P226 and some others. Hope it will be tight and secure after install and Loctite.
  22. I decided to go with the Sig P320. I've read the Sig P226 optic mount works in the dovetail. So I'll use this set up with my Burris Fastfire II to start. If I like it, eventually I'll have someone machine the slide for a lower mount.
  23. I'm not sure? Any suggestions on who machines slides with quick turn around time?
  24. I just bought a P320 and a P226 dovetail mount. Thought I'd give CO a try with my Burris Fastfire II. If i like the division i'll ship off slide to be milled.
  25. What's a general cost to have a slide milled for an optic?
