1. Cuz: Don't sweat it...........WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES! And I bet you won't let that happen again! BTW: Low primer alarm not working?
2. ddc: Again, thanks for the detailed explanation! It's one of those situations where I dread doing it; but after I have, I'm competent and comfortable with doing it again!
3. Pal user here...........zero problems and works like a charm! Highly recommend!
4. Since I don't have the ratchet assembly on my machine, I'm "thinking" I may be able to remove the clevis pin from the Lever Arm Bracket, remove the Slide Stop in back, and then remove the Primer Slide Assembly which "should" give me a pretty good view of the Primer Slide channel for thorough cleaning. But there could be an area under the shell plate that may not be accessible............ Even though I've never had an entire stack to light off, I always want to do anything and everything I can to prevent it! THANKS for sharing the process for using compress air. I keep a couple of cans on the bench anyway. And thanks for sharing your experience!
5. The reason I asked was that a couple of days ago I decided to clean my primer pickup tubes and primer system magazine, and I noticed the magazine took several alcohol patches to clean all the primer residue out. I only use Federal Match primers, and have loaded less than 5,000 rounds.......... All reloaded brass is processed off-machine. Right now I'm wondering if I need to remove the Primer Slide Indexing Assembly and the Primer Slide in order to clean the Slide track of any residue/debris? Also wondering if the slide track can be successfully cleaned without removing the shell plate? Thanks!
6. ddc: That's definitely one of the best videos for breaking down the 1050!
7. Johnny: Does your machine service @ 10,000 rounds include the RL1100's priming system? Or does it require more frequent cleaning? Thanks!
8. Yea, I'm sure there's always exceptions where there's an issue with any of these components! After talking with Rick Koskela concerning some issues with the standard dropper, he recommended the Pro dropper for the same reasons as stated in the Description at Double-Alpha Academy:
9. Other than my EDC Glock, I've always changed my 1911s, 2011s, and ARs to a flat trigger system. Just what I prefer. Since this S2O is my first CZ, I "think" I'll like the Eemann Tech UT as it will definitely take some of the curve out of the stock trigger. For me, that first pull DA to SA transition has been hard to master; and I think the stock trigger's curve and pre-travel is contributing to this. I do have my stock DA pull down to 6# 10oz with some simple spring changes. SA is down to 2# 9oz. So if that curve reduction will improve the DA pull, then I'm all in. Tunachaser's pic above sure helped me with my decision as I feel the "totally flat" optional triggers lack sufficient over-travel "area" (in SA) to help me find/feel the reset. But that's just my guesstimation based on visual pics I've noticed. I'll do my best to report back; but again, my comments are coming from a new CZ user!
10. BTW: Just purchased a Trigger...............unfortunately the Promo Code "has expired"!
11. BTW ltdmstr: That Ohaus SPX123 looks like a great unit!
12. Have to respectfully disagree on the Gempro 250! Used one and it faithfully served me for YEARS! When it did decide to become unstable, I did the warranty claim and received a refund for my full purchase price! Took that money and applied it towards an A&D FX120i. Got it here when the shipping and price was just a few dollars less. But they do include a calibration weight; and Customer Service and shipping was EXCELLENT! https://ceproducts.shop/collections/reloading-systems/products/fx-120i-reloading-scale-122g-x-0-001g I definitely wanted the accuracy and repeatability this unit offers!
13. FWIW…… I changed to the MBF Pro Dropper and ALL my bullet drop issues went away! https://www.doublealpha.biz/us/mr-bulletfeeder-pro-dropper-assembly
14. The 2020 USPSA Equipment Survey gives some insight into what some competitors are using................ https://s3.uspsa.io/media/Survey_Results.pdf
15. BSPS is great to deal with: https://benstoegerproshop.com/dillon-precision-rl-1100-toolhead/ Even though I don't have one of FW Arms decappers...........yet.........they do give some good info concerning the two they offer:
NEW DESIGN FOR HI-VOLUME AUTOMATED PROCESSING After a ton of great reviews and feedback the #1 most requested feature that customers wanted to see was a spring loaded tip to help prevent stubborn primers from getting sucked back into the case. Well here it is, and it has been working amazing for the testers. We decided to use a standard coil spring to ensure long spring life, it gives a very nice ‘pop’ sound letting you know primers are falling out. We’ve fitted the of the unit with an o-ring so you can remove the guide rod and replace the pin if needed. This unit also has planned expansions that can be added. Each unit comes with 2 extra tips. Since this die was made for the automated press user it’s maximum parent case it can handle is 308 Win. This works great on pistol and rifle. This die is really geared to the reloader who processes 10ks or 100ks of cases per month. If you generally only process a few thousand cases at a time I would check out our original decapper here.
Good luck!
16. I find a "dab" of grease works extremely well with the retention of both safety detent plungers!
17. Hey Mark! First off, thanks for the vote of confidence! And I want to follow this thread in hopes of learning something! I'm in the camp that if your not needing HUGE amounts of reloads for high level competition and practice, follow that old KISS theory! As I deprime and clean prior to reloading, my Redding Pro Titanium sizer/decapper in Station #2 works perfectly. Now, if I was loading for 9mm Major and/or using nothing but range brass, I would definitely be using the Lee "U" die that sizes approximately .001" smaller than the Redding. One thing that I ran across not too long ago, and I'll share it here with a bit of embarrassment, was I had a piece of brass going through the RL1100 that had a small, deformed primer pocket that pulled the decapping pin out of my Sizing Die! It was literally stuck/fouled in the primer pocket. To my thankful benefit, the press stopped cold at Station #3 when the factory swaging system hit that decapping pin. I took all the brass out from that station forward; and after replacing the decapping pin in the sizer, proceeded without any further interruptions. Why I feel thankful at this point is that I believe if that piece of brass was not fouled/stopped at Station #3, it may have made it to Station #4 and set off a full magazine of primers during new primer seating! My point is I feel that Station #3 with an adequate swage station "foot" and properly adjusted swage rod coming up from under the case head is one of the most important steps in the RL1100 operation. But, it may simply be important "for me" because I'm a new RL1100 user and not really a concern for those that have used the S1050/RL1100 platform with high production experiences. I'm sure the valued veteran loaders here will chime in......... I definitely think you'll like the endoscope monitoring powder drops vs a powder check die! And your are absolutely right in stating "Reloading is an adventure"! Very enjoyable and satisfying!
18. I "believe" these are the right ones...........but call first! https://czcustom.com/cz-parts-all/base-pads-extensions/p10-magazine-lock-plate.html
19. Purchased the Henning Pro Production base pads for the CZ and Mec-Gar mags I have for the S2O. BSPS linked the Shockbottle aluminum floor plates as a replacement for the square peg Mec-Gars. Round tab on the Shockbottles WOULD NOT FIT the Henning base pads (too large). BSPS sent me some stock CZ floor plates with the round tab, and they fit the Henning base pads perfectly! FYI: the Henning base pads fit the stock CZ 17 round mags and the 17 round Mec-Gars just fine! HTHs!
20. I've found the case gauge to also be a very steady platform for random primer depth checks........
21. I would think you have a set of calipers near by? http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2016/01/primer-seating-depth-uniformity-and-accuracy/
22. These videos helped me a lot! https://www.doublealpha.biz/us/mrbulletfeeder-video-tutorials
23. As I posted on the other thread, same applies to me. This is my choice for the Shadow 2 Orange! https://usa-shop.armanov.com/products/case-gauge-bundle-3-in-1
24. I've got both, and now use the Armanov 100% of the time! This combo speeds up checks for high primers, OAL checks, then easily dumps into my ammo boxes. https://usa-shop.armanov.com/products/case-gauge-bundle-3-in-1 Highly recommended!
