  1. G17: I fully understand what your saying! I'm at a bit of a disadvantage here as I don't currently own a Gen 3 model. But, after some research, I'm finding a few threads that shed some additional light: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=155040 Also, found a thread at another forum that specifically shows pics and discusses using Gen3 barrels in Gen 4 guns without any problems. Yes, there are differences in early G3 barrels for the RSA; but as shown in pics the later G3 barrels have identical RSA cutouts as G4 barrels. Also it was stated: And you'll notice that my G17 is in battery as shown in the above pic. Also was stated: I'll still not have a definitive answer till I receive the Jager assembly; but there may be an issue with the front lug itself on the Bar-Sto. Hope to give them a call tomorrow or Thursday. They are very hard to get through to on the phone. Thanks for your feedback........
  2. Glad to hear! KKM makes excellent products! Thanks.
  3. JBP55: After cycling the slide/barrel assembly 20+ times with the stock dual RSA, I feel confident the pistol would function just fine during a firing session. I ran several magazines of snap-cap rounds along with a few live factory and reload rounds, and the feeding and extraction worked perfectly. Realize it's not actual live firing, but again I think the stock RSA would function fine. Just not satisfied with the stock RSA having a slight protrusion as noted above. Going to see how the Jager conversion RSA works and will go from there. I'll eventually test both RSA's for my own satisfaction, and hopefully report back asap. Thanks for your reply!
  4. G17: You're absolutely right concerning the saddle for the rear of the RSA. After some careful, minor fitting, the Bar-Sto locked up perfectly. After reassembling the 17, I noticed this at the front of the slide: You'll notice the front of the RSA protruding slightly in front of the slide. After some thought and examination, I noticed the cutout was not identical to the G4 barrel. Assuming it's for the Gen 3 as you noted; so I ordered a Jager steel G4 to G3 guide rod along with several ISMI flat springs. Have plenty of time with the bad wx we're having; so I'll report back once I get the Jager parts and find a break to shoot the new setup. THANK YOU for chiming in!!
  5. Agree! I also have monovision contacts, and found using my normal contact (distance) in left eye along with a standard +1.5 contact in my right allows me to focus on the target, bring the sights to eye level, and then focus on the front FO sight. Works really well for "my" older eyes. Also, some good info: http://www.decot.com/content/Old_Pistol_Shooters.htm
  6. For my G17 G4 that's used primarily for GSSF (accuracy), I put Dawson FO front/adjustable rear sights on and just installed a Bar-Sto semi drop in barrel for lead reloads/cheaper practice. Have not shot the Bar-Sto yet, but feel confident the accuracy will be there with the right load recipe..... I'm sure the Zev Fulcrum will satisfy your trigger needs!
  7. Anyone using a Bar-Sto Semi Drop in in a Gen 4? Just fit one to my G17 and have a question concerning the G4 RSA.... Thanks!
  8. may I ask whom is selling this upgrade ? tia This might help: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p3984.m570.l1311.R1.TR2.TRC1.A0.Xdillon+xl650&_nkw=dillon+xl650&_sacat=0&_from=R40

  11. StevieD: Sounds like you had a great weekend along with scoring some Titegroup! Glad to help!
  12. Was visiting my Son there a couple of weeks ago, and IIRC, Shooter's Supply had Titegroup. They've expanded their reloading supplies recently: http://www.shooterssupply.org/ If not there, then Orion Arms across the river in Clarksville, IN should have it. They're also a stocking Dillon Dealer: http://www.orionarmscorp.com/tour-retail-store/ Definitely visit Orion if you schedule allows......... HTS's
  13. Thanks everyone for the welcomes! velodemon: UPike is definitely one of Pike County's greatest assets! Glad to hear you enjoyed your time here. Appears East Ky Sportsman Association got started in '09 though I've not yet had the opportunity to attend a meeting/match. Sure glad to see organized shooting getting a start: http://ekysportsmen.com/

  15. Hello! Been lurking for quite a while....... decided to break the ice and do an intro. Hail from Pike County, KY; and my Son lives in Louisville. He and I have competed in the last 2 GSSF matches in Wilmore and one in Beckley, WV. Have also practiced at Silvercreek as my Son is a member there. We both CCW and compete (GSSF) with Gen4 Glocks. Hope to expand into shooting some Steel next year. Son is using an XL650 that I set up for him in 2012; and I'm planning an XL650 for a winter project once I get a bench built and the garage organized. Sold the XL650 I had purchased in the '90s to a good friend; and he will not part with it! So, I'll have to purchase another one. Had the priviledge of shooting IPSC at Ashland Gun Club in the early 1990's with a 1911/Nowlin .38S racer and a 1911 stocker. Have to say this forum is one of the best I've been a member of; and want to say THANK YOU to Brian and all the members here for sharing such a wealth of information. Best Regards!
  16. IMO, the G17 offers shooting in the most catagories. Once you win another one, look at the G34.
  17. Don't know if it's still happening, but my Son bought 1k, once fired 40 S&W Federal brass from Shooters, and immediately started having primer seating issues with his XL650. We discovered that a bunch of the brass were Federal NT stamped and had crimped primer pockets. So, we've set those aside for now..... IMO, running range collected .40 through a GR-X or Bulge Buster will produce brass that will function in any pistol.
