  1. Fantastic! I am the USPSA match director for the Chillicothe Sportsmen's Club. All of our matches are open to the public and we're always happy to see LE out there. Feel free to get a hold of me if you are interested in coming out sometime.
  2. Where in Illinois are ya from? USPSA is a great place to run your 1911 and get your hands on some 2011's to see if you would like it or not.
  3. I'll vote for the Ghost pouches! They are pretty legit without considering the price. When you DO consider the price, they are hard to beat.
  4. Let me take a gander when I get home tonight and I'll let you know. I typically don't measure it. I just tighten it down until it passes a push test and 10 cycles through the gun without moving.
  5. This sounds like a pretty odd case! I hope you're making progress on it. I will say, I've gone through a whole bunch of TG and a whole bunch of coated SNS bullets without issue. I've shot some through a glock, but they are mainly out of M&P's and a P320 recently. My load is: 3.2 gr TG 147 gr LFP SNS bullet mixed brass Winchester primer 1.13" OAL ~142 PF I've shot thousands of these with a pretty relaxed cleaning schedule (twice a year, maybe). No issues to report. I'll agree that TG can be smoky with coated bullets. The only time I've ever had an issue with it is shooting indoors using a flashlight. Without good ventilation, the smoke can get kind of stagnant. Outdoors I have had no issues with smoke and the SNS coating.
  6. My M&P pro loves the following: SNS 147 gr LFP @ 1.13 OAL, 3.2 gr TG SNS 147 gr LRN @ 1.15 OAL, 3.2 gr TG Both are safely over min PF and the SNS seems to have a very forgiving ogive that allows you to load to that length in short chambered guns. I had a CZ CTS LS-P that ate the same rounds with no issues.
  7. I have shot a lot of SNS bullets over the years. They are my favorite, by far. The bullets shoot extremely well. But also their customer service and support of the game are greatly appreciated. I will say, they made a huge improvement with the red bullets. The reds don't leave any residue in the dies or my gun. They look pretty neat, too!
  8. I have 5 mags overall. I keep 3 on my belt and my make ready starting mag in my back pocket. If I were buying brand new mags, I would go MBX and be done with it. If you already have STI magazines, I really like the TTI baseplate and internals. I get 21 rounds as a starting point and 20 reloadable with STI body and TTI extras.
  9. I second this post. I just recently sent in my DVC Limited for some warranty work (hard chrome was beginning to come off). After a few emails back and forth with Zane, I was given a shipping label and they handled it from there. Overall I had good communication and a great experience. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another STI knowing how they back up their products.
  10. I bought the same plate and worked amazing for me. It does take a little trial and error to get the bearing set just right. Plus, use dry graphite as lubrication for the assembly. Loaded 4K rounds over 4 sittings without cleaning the primer assembly at all. No issues once I got the bearing installed right.
  11. I would recommend "Beltman" belts. I've had mine for going on 5 years now and it is still a great belt. I have worn it every day since the day I got it. Used it as my uspsa belt for a year and carry a full size M&P without any sag at all. They're spendy, but I have a feeling I still have a lot of years to go on this belt before it breaks down.
  12. If you're looking to try USPSA sometime, you should check out the Chillicothe Sportsmen's Club. We put on some fun matches out there and are very welcoming to new competitors!
  13. Nice! Thanks for the follow up. That's a good thought. I do tend to miss quite often....
  14. I would interpret that to mean the pictures you posted would be a legal modification. Just the same, you could probably send an email to Troy McManus with those same pictures to get his thoughts on the subject. My wife is looking into a P320 Romeo for carry optics, so I will probably be looking to do a similar mod in the near future!
  15. I don't have a rulebook handy, but I want to say there is something in there about the magwell opening cannot be greater than 1/4" larger than it comes from the factory. I think it is something along those lines.
  16. Swordfish, You just have to have the firearms unloaded and in a case in your vehicle. Ammo must be stored separate from your case. If you are not an Illinois resident, you do not need to have anything special (i.e. FOID card) to bring a firearm into the state. And that's a negative on ban mags. We're still a kinda-sorta free state!
  17. Have there been any updates to the match? I saw the Facebook link but it won't let you view the group without having an account.
  18. My home club has bowling pin matches. They're pretty informal matches and require no equipment other than a gun. I've had pretty good luck at getting people to come shoot a few of those and get used to shooting on a clock. After that, USPSA is kind of a natural progression. People get really excited about shooting in a relaxed competition, on the clock, and it just hooks them. I refer to the pin matches as the "gateway drug" of shooting matches.
  19. Has anyone tried the Walker Razor XV plugs? I like the idea of Bluetooth capability with my ear buds!
  20. I've been really happy loading SNS 200gr RN over 4.0gr of WST at 1.15". Gets me about 171 PF and is really soft shooting.
  21. Thanks for getting this put together, Ryan, Kyle, and Eric!
  22. My wife has a micro in 380. I tell you what, I have been nothing but impressed with that gun. Very well built, especially when you consider its usefulness as a pocket gun. Of course, the 380 has a super light recoil spring and the slide is really easy to run. We like it so much that I'm planning on picking up a micro 9 sometime soon.
  23. I run a 014 and am very happy with it. Completely locked in when needed and has a very light draw when no movement is involved. I am sure you'll be happy with it.
  24. I like my DVC quite a bit. I picked it up used and got a good deal from a buddy. So no complaints there. I also have a CK basic limited gun in 9mm. The CK is a higher quality gun. I don't think anyone argues that. BUT, the DVC is still an excellent gun that shoots very well. If I were going to buy a brand new gun, I would lean towards the CK. Just don't hesitate to pick up something used because you're afraid of quality.
  25. There will be a match this weekend about 3 hours south of Chicago in Loami, IL. Not sure if that is a practical option for you or not.
