  1. Don't knock it 'our kid. It's a great reflection of Northern Culture!!
  2. Well, I for one am not going to post here because I don't want to get involved in the light bulb controversey. This is getting a little too political now.
  3. Just found this, certainly looks suspicious BBC News
  4. Although it's a coincidence, the fact that it's Eastern block makes it a little easier to believe. Many of these aircraft would not pass FAA, or CAA checks, most of them are long service models and the maintenance schedules can leave something to be desired. Flying is still a fairly safe method of transport, it's just that when things go wrong, there tends to be hundreds of lives affected.

    Two Nuns

The same two nuns get attacked by a vampire. One says to the other "What do we do?" The sister replies "Show him your cross" The first nun says "F£$k off you b*&^ard!"
  6. There was also one made with a comp on it for 6" 686's, but I can't remember who made them. Sorry. I don't know what you're looking to achieve, but it may be more cost effetive to change the barrel itself, plus you'll probably be able to get better accuracy. What is is that you want the weight for?

    Chicago

Chicago is cool, I can't believe that I've flown in to O'Hare so many times and then just driven straight past the city! Anyway, I made a concerted effort to go 2 years ago (taking up practice time) and was completely blown away. It had great restaurants, lots of shops (leave the credit cards at home, good ploy that one) plus there was so much to do, my head pretty much span round I was so busy! As far as the 'talent' goes...Oh yes (but just make sure that your partner doesn't see you looking, painful )
  8. I saw a pick of the great BE wearing a "Team" Ted Nugent shirt at one of the Bianchi matches, shortly after the S&W deal (I think) ended. I thought that was way cool, especially as I'd just been booted of the UK Parker Hale (UK S&W dealers) team, so I decided that I wouldn't pay to advertise a company and set up "Team Pink Floyd" (not affiliated in any way shape or form). It was great being in a team of 1
  9. FWIW I've used a few different loads in the past, with different guns: Standard 686 158gn lead round nose, with about 3.5 gnVV N310 Modified PPC Gun, 1:12 twist 140gn Lead Wadcutter (Lyman mould), about 3.4 gn(ish) VV N310 Mod PPC 124gn 9mm Lead RN (cast oversize) 4.5 gn VV N320 Custom Bianchi Gun, 1:14 twist 125gn JHP (Zero Bullet) started at 5.2 gn VV N320 and gradually moved up to 5.8 gn HP38. All of the loads shot well, but I found with the lighter bullets, I had less perceived recoil. As far as the compensator goes, I think it's a matter of personal taste. You can see from pictures that gas is vented, but as to how effective the baffles are at channeling the gas is something that I can't answer.

    Misc crap

After reading the post on speed reading, I should have learned by now. I thought it said "Go out and shoot him", which I thought would have been a little harsh Must take the time to read Must take the time to read Must take the time to read Repeat until relevant
  11. I used to shoot a lot of PPC, which used to be pretty popular over here. Anyway, I'm at Mattersey Gun Club, which is near to Nottingham, on a Sunday morning and it's been raining pretty hard. There was a large pool of water down at the 10 yard line that I ended up standing in to shoot match 1. Not a problem, decent pair of boots, doesn't worry me at all. So I put down my brass collecting bucket and LAMR, focussing my mind on what I'm supposed to do, squeeze the trigger, nail the front sight etc. Buzzer goes and we start to shoot, 6 reload 6 in 20s. Half way through my 1st string of 6 I become aware of laughter behind me, but it doesn't draw away from my concentration so I carry on. I come to do the reload, bringing the gun down and swinging out the cylinder, dumping the empties into my hand. Imagine my surprise when my bucket wasn't there!! I stood there looking around like a complete idiot, before I noticed that it had floated about 6 yards down the line and was starting to pick up speed! In situations such as this, many people resort to rational and logical problem solving, however I didn't. I knew I couldn't go after it, so I decided to launch my empty brass and then the used speedloader, so that I wouldn't lose them. The cheer I received from the assembled onlookers, still haunts me to this day. Mainly because I completely forgot what I was supposed to be doing and stood there like an idiot, trying to remember the COF! Eventually it clicked and I rattled off the second 6, feeling like an absolute pillock!! The moral of this story? Archimedes knew what he was talking about!

    Reunions

Deanne I'm sure Mike would love me to say some things about him to you, so here goes: Ok, he's a hick, but he's a nice one and he's very generous, as he's going to lend me his Bianchi gun next year. He's also going to pick me up from the airport (he doesn't know any of this yet, so we'll surprise him with it later). He's also got some really great (English) friends. Seriously though, he's a great guy and a real gent. And his sister makes great chilli and his parents are cool as *@#$ !!
  13. Took a bit of thinking about this one, but I think I'll have "The Wicker Man", followed by "The Hitcher" and a close third being "The Crucible" What I find really scary in a movie is reality, the sort of things that could possibly happen, or have happened in the past. Which for me, puts zombies and little green men right out of the picture. Oh, just thought....what about "My Little Pony..The Movie"
  14. Maybe that should have been posted in BigDave's "Why don't you shoot Bianchi Cup" poll. I think that's the reason why I think the rule changes are not the best idea.

    S&W 625

I had a 625 and loved it, re-loads were a dream, it seemed as though you could just throw a moon clip at the cylinder and it would work. (in fact it did, I spent ages trying it out with some dummy rounds I made) Broke my heart when I handed it in to be melted down.
  16. Why is always then?? Do they think you want to buy something in the middle of a meal??AAAAARRRRRGHHHH
  17. Just guessing, but I bet most people choose the 1st Bond they saw. By that I mean, if you saw Connery play him first then you'd choose him, whereas if you saw Lazenby first you'd choose him instead.
  18. They put on fairly regular talks relating to the experience and others that they've had, but they're always sold out well in advance Never mind, I'll get to see one of them eventually.
  19. Brosnan for me, Connery was just too scottish, Moore was just..... Of course I'm expecting the call any day to play the role, I have the accent off to a tee
  20. I know, but I can't watch it without it bringing a tear to my eye, especially when he's stood on top of the car holding the tape player. Guess I'm just a sentimental old fool. Or a sad case
  21. This is such a fantastic film and book, I saw it three times at the cinema and have bought the DVD. It was the first time I've ever suffered from vertigo whilst watching a film!! It is a lesson in perseverence of the human spirit and adversity over the elements, winning against seemingly unbeatable odds. The scene with "Boney-M" playing in the background blew me away. Definitely worth a watch
