1100 CM short stroking My 1100 Competition Master has always run great with AA heavy target loads. I recently started shooting Open and converted to it to Open by putting on a 10 round tube and an Arredondo speed chute thingy. I shot it today for the first time with the new tube and speed chute. At first, it cycled fine. Later the bolt started short stroking frequently. I just cleaned it. I’ve never changed the rubber O ring. Could that make it short cycle? Could the extended tube make it short cycle? Any thoughts/advice appreciated.

IMO, the lower/closer to the slide, the better. There're several Carver models, so know what you're buying. The Carver also requires mods to your holster.

Carlos, Dillion tech support told me that the shell plates are different in the 650 for 9 and 40 - but the same for the 550.

Dave, The 550 shell plate for 9 and 40 is the same. However, that's not the case for the 650 (I called Dillon), so you'll need to buy a conversion kit. I ordered mine from BE. It's $65.

As Matt said, you can simply break the edge on the corner of the slide. It will help. Technically, I don't think that it's allowed in Production, but I won't object if I was shooting with you. Simply dehorning sharp edges is not a performance enhancement that gives you an unfair advantage IMO. It just keeps you from bleeding on your pistol.

My Dawson Edge shoots factory length ammo 100%. I'd just send it back to them if you want it to run the shorter rounds - or just load long.

I agree. I paint my front Trijicon sight orange round the tritium for high visibility. It's a good set up for my defense guns.

The effect of that mod is mainly to lighten the striker. It also reduces the engagement surface to the striker so, as mentioned earlier - be careful.

Flex, Then your case feed adaptor (the colored plastic thing at the bottom of the case feeder tube) can't be for 9mm because .40 cases won't go through mine for 9 (it's green in color).

I have a 550 and 650. On the 550, the shell plate for 9x19 and .40 are the same – you only need to change out the brass button things. Is that also true for the 650? I’m only set up to load 9x19 on the 650, but if the shell plate is the same and I have the .40 brass buttons, then all I should need is the .40 case feed adaptor for the case feeder – correct? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the review Doug. I was thinking about upgrading from my beam scale, but wasn't sure I wanted to replace something that wasn't broken. I got a Christmas gift card to Cabelas (which carries the Dillon) and I think I'll give it a try.

It's all subjective really, but I prefer the 17/22. The only objective data I have is that my six shots in Bill Drills are better grouped on average with my 22 than my 35.
