  1. If you like your Aimpoint on the close up stuff you might try a magnifier for the long distance shots. I have an ML2 with the 4MOA dot and a 3X magnifier and dont have any problems hitting 10" plates at 200 yards. The ML3s and C3s with 2MOA dots will be out soon and will really work well I think for the long range stuff. And if anyone is in the market for an Aimpoint I am a distributor and stock the complete line my Aimpoint page is here http://www.investmentgradefirearms.com/Aimpoint.htm <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I read somewhere that the Aimpoint + the magnifier = 2 optics for USPSA matches.
  2. Why doesn't this surprise me? Erik <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Probably the same reason it does not surprise me <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That hurts!
  3. Cool. What distance and what starting position?
  4. I always thought the carbon in that area was self-limiting and you didn't have to scrap it. I rarely scrap it and my AR's run 100% (knock on wood). However, maybe I should start scraping . . .
  5. Very true. While I do believe in Charlie's triggers, I don't believe in reduced power striker springs. I don't even use them in my competition guns. However, I realize I'm in the minority. Triggers are like women - each guy sees something different in them . . .
  6. Yes - the one that Charlie did for me used a reduced spring. That's fine for competition, but I'd think twice about it for a self-defense gun.
  7. I would NEVER use a reduced power striker spring in a self-defense pistol.
  8. SR - do you keep the 870 loaded? I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not. I've heard people say that only using a spring wears it out and keeping it under compression from being loaded has no effect. That sounds counter-intuitive to me though.
  9. Wow - that actually could be really cool if they let you "hang out" from time to time You're my hero dude!
  10. Eric - I hear ya on this one! We're all competetive, so it's hard to go out and shoot when you know you haven't practiced all three guns the way you should. Let it go and just shoot for fun. Recently, I practice one long arm and pistol each session - well, maybe just the rifle and pistol I suck at the SG and want to keep it that way!
  11. I love the Wolf stuff - mainly because it's cheap practice ammo for stuff out at least out to 50 yards. It is underpowered and sometimes won't completely cycle my 17" upper with a full length gas system. It cycles my 16" carbine all the time, however.
  12. I've also had a dentist tell me I needed a major filling and, since they did crappy work previously, I doubted their word and got a second opinion. You guessed it - I didn't need that filling - they're just drumming up business. I'm sure most dentists are not like this, but some are!!!
  13. Don't know - if anyone knows their names, lets check the scores and see if our nuclear facilities are safe or not Just do me a favor and don't look at my score in the process I barely shot an A class score
  14. I recently bought an M1S90 with a ribbed barrel that was cut down to 21" and rethreaded. It came with only one choke - improved cylinder. Because it's a cut down barrel, this has to be a thin walled choke, but I can't tell the manufacturer. The only writing on the choke is "IC" for improved cylinder. I know it's not a Briley because their chokes are threaded toward the muzzle - this is not. Any idea who made this? Thanks.

    Heinie Sight Users ?

Nik - I agree with your thinking. Lone Wolf just started selling a serrated front sight by Aero-tek that's .090 wide. It's a nice sight. I put some red paint on it and you can blast close targets by just seeing "red" - but the paint is not bright enough to distract me on steel/distant targets. I only put a very light coat of paint on it and the serrations are still very defined. I've had problems with Heinies loosening up in the dovetail. If that happends, you need to peen them or drill and tap a set screw (they should come with set screws in the first place - IMO). The rear notch is also too narrow for my taste, but you can open it up or buy them "race cut" from CGR.
  16. I shot a buddy’s Springfield XD at a match this weekend. Canyon Creek (supporter of this forum) did the trigger on the XD. All I can say is WOW! The trigger was short and light, with a great reset. I still don’t like the grip angle (I’m a Glock man), but that trigger was far superior to any Glock trigger I’ve felt – and I’ve felt some good ones. The XD with that trigger could be the sleeper platform for Production.
  17. Nice and "used" looking. I like it. What's the front sight - Dawson?
  18. Is the 1-4x Banner a true 1x or does it have some magnification at 1x?
  19. I ordered the CM drop in, single stage, flat trigger from Cactus Tactical and got it yesterday. It was a 5-10 minute job. I did have to remove the safety selector for clearance, but no big deal. I don't have a trigger gauge, but my finger tells me that it's about the same as my beloved JP trigger. Three thing I really like about this trigger: 1. Simple and quick to install. 2. The flat trigger seems to fit my hand better than the traditional curved trigger. 3. It has a strong reset. The only open question is the long term durablity of this trigger. Time will tell. My JP has been flawless and ignites everything.
  20. Word! I may have to steal this quote

    Home Gym

Qstick, You didn't mention your budget - which is key. If you have some budget, I highly recommend the Prospot. It's a patented machine that is essentially free weights suspended by cables. When you grab the bar, the cables automatically release. When you release the bar, the cables lock. Check it out: Prospot
  22. Thanks Guys. I haven't caught my thumb yet, but I guess it's only a matter of time
