  1. I glad it was you, I thought it was because I beat him like a red-headed step child with a Tanfoglio running minor at TSLC a few years ago. Kenny
  2. Sargenv has it correct. 12ga was 452AA and 20ga was 473AA. In the mid-80's, 5.2gr of 452AA behind a 200gr H&G 68 was the hot ticket. I ran 473AA after I backed my 9 down to minor with very good success, but I don't remember the loading other than it was a 122gr flat point. Kenny
  3. Jimmy should be able to tell you for sure if it is IDPA legal. I did the redesign work for Jimmy on the current version, but I am not at the computer that has the design files. However, the left side only sticks out the thickness of a thin washer and a #6 button head cap screw. The right side is very close to the stock dimension of a standard release. It is currently available for S_I, Para, and 1911's. (We never got around to working on the Caspian version.) Kenny
  4. There is another line the movie that makes me think that Mel's character was the first IPSC competitor, and it comes right after your quote. When Mel is behind the tree getting ready to attack the British, he says, "Lord make me fast and accurate". Kenny
  5. Construction looks like pressure treated 2x4 and 2x6. How many guys is it going to take to carry it around? (Does that count include the carrying the Queen of the range as well. ) Kenny
  6. The air hose rules !! The key is to adjust the regulator so that it only blows off the loose powder and not the brass glitter. Kenny
  7. Larry, I have run Federal sm rifle exclusively in my 650 for the last 8 years. It shouldn't be an issue. Kenny
  8. The Stamping on the mag release is STI. This is one of STI's MIM releases. This is a finished grip from STI. Kenny
  9. I believe that we have this now, with the except of M and GM. Master and above have "protected" status, meaning even if you left for 10 years you will not lose your classification. Kenny
  10. He's got to support his rice rocket habit somehow. Kenny
  11. Without seeing the pistol, I would have a look at the ejector. It may be tuned to throw the brass very low to clear the scope, and/or it may be really short thus delaying the release of the brass into your thumb. Kenny
  12. I have always been the one to show the ticket counter that my gun is unloaded. Reminds me of a story "uncle" Dave told me. Have you seen the alum cases that he uses for the STI display guns, there are about seven in each case and he travels with 5 or 6. Dave told me that he removes each pistol, sticks its straight up in the arm, for all to see, and demonstrates that it is unloaded. (Great advertising). I don't know if he still does this post 9/11. On the fun side, it's always fun when they say what a pretty gun. Kenny
  13. About 8-10 years ago, I saw a lot of GFL brass let go in both Glocks and STIs. The failure was full case head separation. 3 of the 4 cases, on my home range, had been roll sized. Kenny
  14. Your hood ornament is a red dot sight. Kenny
  15. Back in the 80's, when I was running revolver, I sent my 586 cylinder to Ranch Products. The cost was around $50 with a bunch of moon clips. They cut the cylinder on a sinker edm, very clean with no burrs. Kenny
  16. Guys, have you any thoughts on what is best ? Thanks, lr For me, the click is a waste of money. I only know one setting, Wide Open. The click has preset resistors, the first 3or4 are not useful, whereas the standard uses a reostat that is infinitely adjustable between off and wide open. Kenny
  17. Dave, That is a very sweet piece. I love the way the grip is stippled, although it does make it look kinda like a para. Bring out to Coleman with ya. I've got cookies. Kenny
  18. Dave, Come back to Coleman, I will bring lots of cookies. Kenny
  19. LR, Most 1911 mounts have a pad where the scope mounts to the frame. This pad averages around 5.5 mm thick. The standard frame thickness of a 1911 is 21.1mm versus the 27mm of the Tanfoglio. To center the scope, you will need to remove 2.95mm from this pad. I like the scope to be offset a little to the left. I do this by offsetting the mounting points for the scope. This accomplishes two things, first it moves the scope away from the ejection port. The second item is I am lefthanded and left eye dominant, so it places the pistol a little closer to the centerline axis of my body. If you want to try the offset, leave the pad on the mount. Brazos Custom sells a mount that is already designed to offset the scope. I've never used any of the blast shields, even with the hybrid or on my current Brazos Pro Sx with Poppleholes. Kenny
  20. lr, I believe the spacing on the gold frame is 10mm and I'm not sure that any of the current pattern 1911 mounts match this spacing. When I ran Tanfogs, I used a Dawson mount. I bought an undrilled mount, remove the under cut from back side of the mount and drill it to match the frame. Utilizing this combination, you should be able to acheive a very low profile. Kenny
  21. It's not just finding someone with a competitive nature. Once we hook them, we have to get them to want to stay. Millberger got two high-end investment banker types into the game years ago. They spent thousands on the equipment and only shot a few times. Their reason for not coming back. The bickering, whining, "it's a double", "this a club match, we use bubba's rules". They got that in the board room, and wanted to come out for fun. From a spectator perspective, IPSC is boring. They cannot see the holes in the paper target. All they see is someone going like a 'bat out of hell', and think they cannot possibly be hitting anything. (Just ask a our local law enforcement, yes they're fast but they're just spraying bullets downrange and hoping to get lucky.) Mr. Bane has hit on one of the biggest items. LOOKS. Set decoration is everything. It's the smoke and mirrors that attract a wide audience. I am lucky that I belong to a club that is very focused on making our large matches "pretty". When I am actually shooting a stage, I never see the set decorations but the stages that I remember are the ones that someone has taken the extra time to decorate and make visually appealing. I have been to Area/National matches where the stage decoration looks like some little hoodlums have grafittied the walls. If I remember correctly, the nationals gives the RO's on each stage $25 to apply whatever decorations they want. I will get off my soap box now, or else I could fill a gig of storage space. There are just a few simple concepts to getting more people. 1.)Make it attractive. (This doesn't mean spend hundreds on decorations, even a clean coat of paint will be a great start. Mow the grass, pick up the trash, the empty shotgun hulls. Make it clean. 2.) Stop the whining and bickering. (We have a set of rules, everyone follow them.) [/rant over/] Kenny
  22. Ooh, ooh, I do. The S&H store was just two blocks from my grandmother's house. The local grocery also gave green stamps. Kenny
  23. Allison, Bom Dia! Congratulations on the outcome of the referendum. I was reading about it last night on the ftpdf website, and was hoping that the vote would be NO. Kenny
  24. WRONG!! I broke an extractor, in my P9, in 1994 because of no flash hole with brass that I reloaded. The brass was new and did not discover that there was not a flash hole until it was too late. (FWIW: the brass was CP 9x21+P+) Kenny
  25. What are you getting for $2.86 a box. Maybe I need to move to 'Bama. In Texas, the cheap stuff at Academy is $3.86 a box. It is CCI Blazer and it makes 140pf out of my STI Eagle. The cost works out to $0.077 per round. My component cost, without brass, are $0.067 per round to reload 9mm. Kenny
