  1. Hail to the King! Allison, I like your new avatar. Knowing Fred, he slept all day in a hotel while he waits until tomorrow. There did not appear to be any other problems other than the person that controlled the room where his gun was stored would not be into work until Monday. The match was terrific. The staff was professional and always helpful. The competitors were the best. On the range, I met some great new friends from Chile. After hours, Allison, Fernanda and Cliff made the week the best of the year for Fred and me. The only disaster factor was the one you created for yourself. As I was standing in shooting area during the walk through on "Mickey Mouse", Fred said to me "I know what your thinking, just shoot it straight up." I dug a deep hole on Monday, but managed to climb up to 14th. Allison learned a new mantra this week, "smooth and steady". It carried him to a championship win. All hail Allison, he is the new Pan American King. Kenny
  2. Bill, Fred just laughed. He did not figure that the siamese was the adventuresome of the 3. We're on the reserve list for the shoot-off. In a way I hope that they let me in, but the bad thing is I gave the guys in our squad from Chile all of my left over ammo. I kept ten rounds. If I make it in, I will have to beg Uncle Dave to borrow the 9mm Grandmaster and some 9mm ammo. Maybe Rodrigo will bring his range bag to the range. I was going to wait until tomorrow, but they said at the range only the top 8 would be in the shoot off. I knew that I had too many penalties to climb into the top 8. Next time I want be so quick to reliquish my ammo. Kenny
  3. Well the match is over!! From Squad 9's perspective, Vericio Brazil (or Allison Vericio) has won the revolver division. Hail to the KING. Final verification scores have been posted, but no stage points. Everyone is listed in alphabetical order. This keeps the suspense going. It was a wonderful adventure, 36 hours in the airports getting to Brasilia. Fred's gun is still locked in customs. It was not allowed to enter Brazil (just like Tom Hank's character in the Terminal). Fred ran my backup gun this week. Fred's ammo worked really good in my gun after we had a R.O. take it home and re-seat the primers. It seems that I build guns to a tighter tolerance than Fred. I think I was setting just 20-25 points out of the top 16 this morning. On the first stage, I lost a some ground (stg 24). I shot the first 7 targets so quick and clean I thought I forgot target number 3. After backing up about halfway, I saw the target had 2 A's and started forward again. The rest of the day went very smooth, I stayed clean, and maybe reclaimed a little ground. Rodrigo Lira told me I was "special" after shooting stage 20. I took 3 shots at the static plate, but hit the two moving plates with one shot each. I still managed to collect 11 penalties in 24 stages, but anyone that has shot with me will see this as a 50% improvement compared to past U.S. national performances. There is my old enemy taunting me to build a new practice routine. The shoot offs are in the morning, for the top 8 in each division. Tomorrow evening is the closing ceremonies and then we will get to find out how everyone finished. More later, Kenny
  4. Well everyone, day four will be starting in about 3 hours. Last night the sites were down, so we could not check our scores or post info here on the forum. I will post the really good news, and the rest you can see on the results page. Allison (Vericio_Brazil) is continuing to have a strong match. Yesterday, he took another another 4 stages and stretched his margin to almost 100 points. Kenny
  5. After watch Ciff and Allison shoot revolver so well, I think I will switch to revo and be a real man... The information above was posted by Cliff. I have watched Allison (Vericio_Brazil) compete during the match and he is very good. Cliff has always finished before I find his squad. I hung the revolvers up over 20 years ago, open is too much fun. Even if I have more misses. Kenny
  6. Hi, This is Kenny again. I'm sharing Cliff's computer as you can tell from the last post. Cliff doesn't want to post anything else, for now. Something about his shooting. Today was another beutiful day in Brazil. Allison made up some ground and Cliff is running high US revolver. Other than the death jam, I performed better today. Fred is having fun. Unfortunely Fred's gun was not allowed to enter Brazil. 90% of Fred's ammo likes to run in my backup gun. More later, ate logo Kenny
  7. In 1996, 1.05 average. All A's whether on a paper target or a 8" plate. ( I was practicing up for the World Shoot-off's in Colorado) Springfield P9, 9x21 with an Aimpoint. CR Speed A Class In 2006, 1.10 average. All A's 15yd to 20 yd on paper. STI 2011, 38SC with a C-More Limcat Master Class I'm not the fastest on the first shot, I make up my time elsewhere (target to target acquition). I can pull sub one second, but my focus is the entire target, not just the A-zone. Kenny
  8. WTF?? I have always wondered about Leo's post, but the last competitor listing did not contain Todd's name. Kenny 8 days until I leave
  9. Both grips came out of the same mold. If you notice on the SV grips, they have an emblem glued in the grip. This is where they machine the molded STI logo off and insert their emblem. SV also does not drill and tap for the lower "grip panel" screw. Kenny
  10. As a Glock? The answer is no. This is a modification that is not allowed for production. This would be considered replacing a stock part with an aftermarket part. The gun must contain OEM parts as supplied or models defined from the manufacturer, i.e. Glock. For the most part, production must be "box" stock as received from the manufacturer. Now if CCF decides to start producing complete firearms, then they can be considered for inclusion to the approved list of production firearms. My 2c, Kenny
  11. Never noticed the "F" before. There are also a few CA and CL still around. CA - Charter Annual CL - Charter Life. I use to shoot with a DPS officer in Abilene. His number was CA-61. Kenny Oh yea. F is for foriegn, (see below). I got stuck on the founder.
  12. 41 days and counting down. Now if I could just get my friends from the Sao Paulo area to come watch. (They claim it's too far away.) Allison, do you know when the firearm permits will be shipped out? Where is the range in relation to the city? Is it at the same range as the 96 WS, or where ACAP competes? My Portuguese is not the best, but I have not been able to locate any information on where the range is located. Thanks again and I will see you soon, Kenny
  13. The 85 nationals in Arizona had a lot of whiners. There was one stage that required 9 rounds. If you were real gamey and had the devel follower, you shot the gun dry on that stage and saved a reload. The cool thing was when we made an 11 round super mag (flush fitting of course) for the 12 round stages. This was before everyone got smart and starting dictating when you had to reload, instead of stating to reload between the first and last shot. Do you remember that Chip only had the one prototype. $499 a frame and he was still taking orders standing on the stairs at the Travellodge on Saturday while trying to pack. Team Caspian was shooting Para, because they didn't receive their Caspian frames until a week before the match. <Pop quiz> Does anyone remember what JLE stood for? I still have one of Robbie's cases in my P9 bin. There was no head stamp on the brass though. Kenny (I need to stop reading this post or you will force me to pull out my '86 major 9 Hi-Power out of the safe. This is not a good thing because it already has a cracked slide.)
  14. CMC/TRI lead to the development of the extended magazine rules. (I will have to check my notes to see which name the company was running under at the time.) At the time of the '91 nationals, everything was still flush with the bottom of the frame. Of course, Chip was just introducing the polymer frame at the nationals. Back to the question, sometime afterwards CMC/TRI began shipping frames with extended magazines. The basepad rose up the side of the magazine and blended in with the frame. There were shouts of that's illegal and USPSA issued a decision that the extended mags were legal only if your frame came from the factory with the extended magazines. Earlier frames, those shipped with flush magazines, would still have to run flush fitting magazines. This became an uninforciable rule. I don't know how we arrived at the 140/170 dimensions, as I was back at school and was not competing again until late 93 early 94. Kenny P.S. My 1990 P9 held 18+1 flush. Magazines were $13.00 a piece from Springfield (I performed the modifications to bump the capacity from 17 to 18). By comparison, you could send Para mags out to be modified for 38 super with delrin rails installed for $150 each plus the cost of the magazine. They held 19+1. I don't remember what the solid base pad Caspians would hold (I think 19).
  15. Boa Tarde! I will be at the match, but I think it would be easier to re-class your pistol to open than the other way around. My entry, as well as Fred's, went in around the first of May. Eu falo só um pouco de português. Kenny
  16. Hey, I resemble that remark. On a stage that have a definite flow difference, how about 4 minutes for the RH and 1 minute for the lefty's. (tongue planted in cheek) Kenny (I often fell like a salmon swimming upstream)
  17. Well, the first day of this year's match is in the computer. I can't tell you how anyone is doing, well because I don't know. It did reach 100°, but the heat index was only 95° and little breezy. The day ran very smoothly, and shooting was over by 5:30. There were three activator cables that were shot and had to be required and one popper that required re-tightening after a bunch of "non-required" slug shots. Hopefully, someone that is actually shooting the match will chime in on how things went from their perspective. No one requested calibration, so other than a couple of rules questions my day was pretty quiet. (Of course, it could have been the .338 Laupa round that I was carrying for calibration that kept everything quiet. Kenny, RM (Trying to get the dirt out of my eyes and ears.)
  18. Steve, I alway took the retention bar out and recut the slot in the holster body to correctly locate the retention bar for my Tanfoglio's. This lets the gun ride low in the holster and reduces the extra play off the muzzle plug. Kenny
  19. Bom Dia, My entry, along with Fred's, was sent in last week. So Texas will have some representives. Kenny
  20. Kathy, By 2pm, do you mean exactly 2pm. There is a 2:21 flight out of DFW and we could have you on the 11:24 flight out of San Angelo. If that won't work, we could put you on the 8:51 flight from San Angelo to DFW and you could leave DFW at 12:50 to Cincinnati. I've been tapped as the RM for this match and I may have some pull to ensure that you are finished and at the airport in time. The match is multi-gun format (after all we are the home of San Angelo Method of scoring). You will need to inquire to bpowe or jkmccoy for stage details, I have not seen the stage designs. Kenny
  21. Yes, Kath please come play. I was about to post on the question about your where abouts that I was putting out my Texas spies. Kenny
  22. Larry, From the entry form, the phone number is listed as 325-944-2578. Kenny
  23. +1 Thanks Bruce. I am not sure why this is being drawn into an us vs. them discussion. “USPSA is the American region of IPSC.” (from the USPSA web site). If you compete in the U.S., you are shooting an IPSC match, with specific waivers that allows a U.S. edition of the book. There are over 70 regions within IPSC, and everyone brings their own unique flavor to the sport. Even within the U.S. we have variety in our match styles, from technically challenging to hose fest and everything in between. It’s part of what makes our sport fun. The majority of U.S. changes to the rules only occur when we would issue warnings. I was not involved with the construction of these changes, but it appears that they were made to ease match administration at the local level. The biggest deviation is in our divisions. This will always be an area of personal opinion. Some may say that more is better, and this is fine. I personally like the divisions that are defined by IPSC, or actually I would like fewer (my opinion). I asked our R.D. a few years ago when would the U.S. recognize modified, and was told basically not on his watch. I like the idea of our multi-gun format but personally have no interest in shooting 3-gun. I do not like Limited-10 or the 1911 single stack divisions, but I don’t have to shoot in those divisions so it doesn’t affect me. (Now when they come up with a middle-age/over weight/left-handed/Browning HP division, then I may sign up.) If the addition of these extra divisions will bring more shooters into our sport, then having a separate standalone rulebook may be a good choice. Pop Quiz: In what year did IPSC recognize the Limited Nationals for IPSC medals? This was the first time that the Limited Nationals was IPSC sanctioned. Limited is a U.S. only division, yet they recognized the match. Kenny (Looking forward to my first Level IV match in 7 or 8 years. Pan American in Brasilia.)
  24. Give Dale AlcornDA45acp@yahoo.com a call or he is here in the forum as DA45acp. He is the original creator of this target system. R&R makes excellent products. His system uses springs, whereas Dale uses nitrogen shocks for a very smooth consistant actuation. This system has been in use throughout Area 4 for at least the last 10 years. Kenny
  25. Since we're talking about Brasil, it's late Winter not summer. Kenny
