  1. Walt, I've got several hundred peices of 45 super brass laying around just in case you need them! See you at A-4, good luck at Kansass Hop
  2. I can remember when he was still in "C" class............not too long ago may I add ! Congrats Keith, well deserved (and I'm glad to get him out of A where I seem to be stuck) Hop
  3. Chuck, remember those are timed fire strings.....a shot overtime costs 1 procedural plus the best hit on target. If this is something you haven't done I would suggest going over it just to get the times down so you don't go over. Also, if you only fire 4 shots in the allowed time there is no miss penalty for the two not fired. Hop Now back to the topic. it looks like the MS classic and the Kansas shootout will again combine for the highest number of wheelgunners shooting the same weekend until maybe the Nationals. Get out and SHOOT !!!!!
  4. Thanks Kathy! Sorry to have missed you and RB at Dickson this weekend. But will see you at KY 3-gun Hop
  5. And were you happy with the Ft. Wayne match?...........I'll answer that for you... keep up the good work, you are an inspiration to many of us (including me). Hop
  6. Jerry and Kay are in San Antiono that weekend for the Smith & Wesson Team Challenge..........Kind of earning his keep. Area-4 tradionally has less than a dozen shooters. seems like 2005 had the most in recent years 9 I think....But I do know that that years A-4 was the HARDEST match I have EVER shot with any kind of handgun (and you'll get to see a repeat of a few of those props again) I think the reason A-4 tradionally is low is the match is always National championship quality stages (or harder) so those that attend do so with higher capacity type handguns. I personally have always enjoyed shooting A-4 with a wheel, except the year my wheel went out of time on the second stage of the match. Luckily it was only 1 cylinder so I could plan for 5 shots, but just didn't know when. I'll see you guys there, shooting Friday PM, Saturday AM. Hopalong
  7. Hey Jane, Can I suggest a goal of 95% give or take of the match points available? example: Your next club match has 6 stages. 1........25 shots for 125 points 2........12 shots for 60 points 3........19 shots for 95 points 4........31 shots for 155 points 5.........8 shots for 40 points 6.........17 shots for 85 points Total points in the match........560 Shooting 530 would be 94.6% But you need to do it while under control and with accuracy and dillgence. I'll give you my first Area win numbers for an example too. total availabe points in the match. 1755 Points I shot. 1631 so by the numbers................ 1631 devided by 1755 equals 92.93% What that does is keeps you away from that cow trail you mentioned earlier, and keeps you focused on the job at hand...........shooting points. It has always worked for me, and when I stray down that trail I step in the $hjt. Oh and it doesn't matter what division you are shooting in either. Hope it helps, if it doesn't you have complete permission to knock the Whale out of me next time our paths cross on the points HI way!!!! Hopalong
  8. Had too much fun last year, don't want to miss it if I can help it. Hopalong
  9. Like the last Arkansas section match I attended I had the pleasure of shooting with ole Walt...........He sure looked like he was having fun, and as usuall was doing a good job of making the Ti cylindered 625 sing!!!! But it kind of wen't off key at the Chrono!!!! I'll let him go into detail there! We had a great squad of mostly Okies and Vols, I don't think there was a razorback to be found in our squad and we didn't even get to make fun of them Pigs either. Unfortunately there were only two (2) wheelgunners there at the match, I know of 3 that shoot them that were running some type of bottom feeder (Yes I'm guilty) and Mike and Steph were not able to compete this year. He did make the TX star look quite easy to shoot (I followed him in the shooting order) and then since he smoked the star I thought I'd just follow suit.............Hmmmm 5 plates on a star, 10 shots to clean it............glad I had 19 rounds in my magazine! THANKS KEN!!!! As always, good to see you and will see you in Shreveport. Hopalong
  10. I voted "No I won't be attending" for a small match in Mississippi that I'll be at on the same weekend..............Which is already on the schedule for NEXT YEAR !!!!! Have fun, buy Cliff a Coors for me someone! Hop
  11. I voted for "other" since if I was using a Hi-capacity handgun I would shoot Limited and shoot major. I really do think this has been beaten to death, many times over. But since someone asked, I did vote to help the numbers. Hop I really do like Jims' description of Production division in USPSA ................"IROC" shooting
  12. Stages are up on the web page!!!! Sorry you Kansass shooters will be missing it! John told me he has 10 wheelgunners with a couple of maybe fence sitters, not quite as good as last year, but still not too bad. HOP
  13. You won't get Hearthco moons for that !!! BUT, You won't have any problems either !!!! Hop
  14. Less than 2 weeks away !!!!!! If you are not entered for the 2007 MS classic too bad............You missed a good one!!!!!! I can tell you that from experience. See all you there. Hop
  15. As always the case (for me at least) a good time with my new aquaintences from squad 6 and a great match to shoot. Got to brag on Kelly Raglin..........He kind of messed up a stage and overcame a big loss of points to win A class limited. Just goes to show that keeping your head and not letting things get to you can get you to overcome adversity!!!. Congratulations to my bud Rodney May on his Production HOA win! Congratulations to Shane Coley from Mississippi for his Open HOA win! Many more did well, but several did not as good too(like me) Keep your heads up and see you next time!!! Great match, NO surprise for this bunch of folks.............Congrats. Thanks to all the sponsors(too many to list) but please support those who support us. Hopalong

Flat Head! It was good to see you again after 2 years, keep up the physical stuff you looked kind of like one of them there real Atheletes!!!! Glad you had a good match, even more glad you are able to gain from it towards that goal of yours. The Dallas crew kicked ass!!!! they were getting called out for all kinds of wins......too many to remember or list. I wish Larry had been able to make it, but maybe next time. Keep up the good work, see you again at A-4. Hop
  17. Got my Front sight yesterday, I am now quite famous thanks to mark and his little side bar!!!!!! Thanks Mark!!! I'll try a little harder this year. Hop
  18. Leaving out in a few minutes, Gonna go by and pick Rodney up at Mid South where of course we'll have to get a round of Metal mania in!!! See ya'll tomorrow! Hop
  19. Excellent example!!!! While it appeared Flexmeister was quite "relaxed" it also showed his grip at the time he was really conected and driving the plastic toy gun, some parts of him was not "relaxed"................can't say much good about his mental part though............he's always "RELAXED" there or maybe the workd I'm looking for is "TOUCHED" Hop
  20. Birthday wishes to all from ole Hopalong!

  23. Well, maybe one of my Dislexic moments! ( or could it be the momory thing I forget sometimes) hop
  24. Alzo, Brown dog knows what he's talking about that's for sure. Might be able to help you a little myself(although I get "bitten" by the dog every time we shoot) Good starting reference: 6 inch Black dot on a white background of 2'x2' 100yds to the target. Sight picture: Black dot centered in the rear peep. Black dot sitting on top of front post. You want the center of the group to impact the center of the dot at 100yds (giving you an automatic 3" hold over at 100yds). Most AR platforms will hold 3" or less groups with ammo that fits the barrel twist........slower twist for heavier bullets. The 3'' high thing will get you a dead on never leave what your shooting at and hit within 3 inches out to 250 yds give or take a little depending on bullet weight and speed but that is a general idea. For an IPSC target or similar, just aim where you want to hit(except real tight head shots at 70 yds ect then you have to remember your hold over/under to make up for it (practice will tell you how much) That should get you started in the right direction.
