  1. Camoney is right..............(Wow did I say that ?????) With 5 GMs shooting the MCC no wonder all the stage wins went to a GM (I think it is supposed to go that way ???) I did get to shoot one stage with David and Matt both.....They were pretty on the ball that's for sure. Area 2 is always a good revolver shoot.....too bad it and the MCC are so close together on the calendar. Good shooting to all. and have a Happy Thanksgiving. Hopalong
  2. Well done Rich......Now you guys can plan to attend the 2012 Memphis Charity Challenge......where the real competition is Hop
  3. Bob, We've already talked about your fathers passing. Now that you have him in the Honorable Place he deserves you can be just that much more proud of him. God bless him, and the rest of the Greatest Generation. Hopalong
  4. I wanted to share a story with all of you so here goes. One of the range officers was involved in a car accident the Thursday before the match. (unknown to me until Friday PM) He was driving a Tahoe/Suburban type and was hit between the driver door and the back seat door by a Nissan Altima type car. He had in the vehicle with him his wife (Passenger front) his daughter (right behind him) and 3 of her friends (all in the back seet with his daughter. They had been out for dinner and were headed home (my take of the story). One of his daughters friends was airlifted to LeBohneur hospital with head injuries and still unconsious. All others were treated and released from the local hospital. The girl flown to LeBohneur came around and was released on Saturday. When he told me the story I told him to stay home and recouperate. He told me that there was no way he'd miss working the match because of who we're supporting. Co-incedence ? don't know, don't care. I'm glad we can help someones sick/hurt child while gathering and doing something we all enjoy !
  5. Oh yeah, All comments/criticism welcome so WE can make the 2012 MCC better (good and bad welcome) Thanks again !!!! Hopalong
  6. Mike, to help you feel better. LeBohneur hospital enthusiasticly supports our efforts, and always asks "What can we do to help ?) They have a periodical they send me (I'm the mailing contact) telling of what the hospital is doing and what they hope to do. ect, ect, ect. They have a standing offer for visits/tours to the hospital should we (anyone @ the match) decides to maybe go take a look. As far as a "Forced Donation" I don't see it as that. I would think a "Forced Donation" would be someone pointing a gun @ me and saying "Give me some $$$$ for XXXXXXXX". Every one there knows where the money is going, and after my earlier post of how much the MSSA range is chargine us to use the range they know why it is a benefit match too. If they don't want their hard earned money going there they don't need to come. So, every body feels better now knowing We're enthusiasticly welcomed @ LeBohneur vs. the other place. I want to thank everyone who came and shot the match. I also want to thank the Range Master Paul Hernandez for his help. I really really really want to thank the range officers who came and worked the match. THANK YOU !!!!!!! I also want to thank ALL the SPONSORS.....(See web page) for what they do to support not only our match but all the others they get bombarded for !!!!!!! Very rough estimate is $7000.00 +/- this year to LeBohneur (averaging $100 per shooter) Thanks again to all who had a part in the match. shooting, helping, setting up, what ever. It is great people like all of you that makes it worth the effort to put it on. VERY appreciative Match Director !!! Hopalong
  7. Thanks everyone. I'll be filling in the details soon. Going back to work now. Sam/Hop

  9. I found the information for the Reboring for the 686 barrel, to .40 cal. www.deltagunshop.com contact Allen. Hopalong
  10. I have the exact thing you guys are talking about. A 6 Inch 646 rebarrelled from a bored out 686 barrel. Work done by Deltagunshop.com talk to Allen. They cut and regrove the barrels, no sleave. Mine is quite more accurate than I am. Now you turkeys.....If you go and do this modification, I wont be the only one in the US with one like it (But I'll be the first, and the trend setter) Good luck with yours, I really like mine. HOPALONG
  11. The title of this thread is USPSA REVOLVER Participation There is not a USPSA match in the us or the WORLD that has more participation than the Memphis Charity Challenge (the world shoot this year had 43 revolvers). It is doing EXACTLY what it is meant to do. Making the MCC a USPSA National match would do several things for USPSA. Bring more shooters to the National Championship. Bring more shooters to the Memphis Charity Challenge....making it a better Charity for LeBohneur Add 20 ish spots at the National Championship where Revolver vacated for more shooters of the divisions offered. Give USPSA more activity and classifier funds from the revolver division.....maybe even getting some of the HIT FACTORS more on scale to where they should be. ONLY PLUS points for both USPSA and the Memphis Charity Challenge. Some things the Memphis Charity Challenge wont be/do: Drop the Charity aspect......We are doing a good thing for others, while increasing Revolver Participation at a USPSA match.....Fullfilling some of the goals for the match. The Memphis Sport Shooting Assn (Range) allows us(MCC) to host the match for FREE !!!! as long as the match gives to a Charity (Thus the MCC) Known for the Prize table......I do the prize table on my spare time and for the last 3 months have been working my normal job and then some. The prize table is not a priority, and may easily go away unless somebody else wants to take that project on. It is my hope that the Memphis Charity Challenge can become the USPSA National Championship for Revolver division just to show others that it would be well attended, by not just the normal revolver crowd but the same people we attracting now...the sometimes revolver people. If that works great...if not...too bad. If the Memphis Charity Challenge does become the Stand alone nationals and some people think that it(Nationals) needs a KICK ASS prize table (Haven't seen a kick ass prize table at any USPSA MATCH nationals or otherwise since I've started shooting USPSA except at some OUTLAW 3-gun matches) Someone can take on that project and be the ramrod of that match, The MCC will continue on as a Charity match and I won't have to bother with a prize table at all. IF somebody wants to try the minor 8 shot guns vs major 6 please go right ahead, organize it, make it 10 stages, promote it as a test bed..promote it for a year ahead of time so anybody thinking about attending can schedule it with plenty of time and have at it....I'll be there with my 6" 646 shooting Major (Notice NOT a 5" 625...although I do have some of them too) trying very hard to kick the SH!t out of the 8 shot minor guns. There is a very nice range in Oklahoma that I shot at this summer, really close to Bubber and company that could easily fit this match.......Hint Hint Hint. Give it a try....quit talking about it and DO it !!!!!! Like I did with the Memphis Charity Challenge. (Which upped the Revolver Participation more than all the Area matches combined) Hopalong
  12. Have 3 more coming that are not showing.....should make 77.........need about 10 more. Hop
  13. OOPS, sorry about that Ed. Some of the LA contengent still AWOL Hop
  14. Memphis Charity Challenge has a few standing reloads. It is a skill that MUST be tested !!! UNLIKE most other "Revolver Friendly" matches (6 shot arrays) you'll find the stages at the MCC VERY revolver friendly......Too many options, how am I going to do this, when do I shoot that target ect. ect. and so on. Bubber is a veteran of the MCC, listen to him. Hop
  15. Notables missing from the list..... Louisiana contengent (Gator Classic the week before MCC) Ohio Contengent (Don't know about the Yankee doodle heads) If anyone has any pull with them. please make sure they are missed. Sam
  16. Good news !!!! Apex Tactical has signed up as a Silver Sponsor !!! Also a 870 shotgun has been donated to be auctioned off and those funds go to the Hospital. We're up to 61........come on, and shame your buddies into shooting. They really want to you know..... Hop
  17. Now......IF I told you guys that, I would not be the only one having one like it !!!!!! I'll dig up the info when I get back down to my Mothers house where I my paperwork is. HOP
  18. good tune up for the Memphis Charity Challenge !!!!! www.memphischaritychallenge.com/ Hopalong
  19. For what it is worth, Let me tell you about the USPSA Presidential elections from my point of view. When I decided to run, I called and talked to many people in differing parts of the US. Not just the Southeast where I live. I went to 13 major matches in 8 states including Area-1 (long way from Tennessee) (USPSA, and 3 3-gun or Rifle matches) not just to shoot, but to meet, campaign, and just talk to other people in the US. (I worked as a range officer @ 12 of those matches). I also posted on the USPSA election forums my positions and Intentions like Mr Meek. Unlike Mr. Meek my posts were lost in the crash and I was not able to repost due to my work after that. I had also posted my e-mail, cell phone number so people would call or contact me. I got 6 phone calls, and 4 e-mails total. I had good support from friends and others that know me from other people and I thank them very much for the support and well wishes. So even if you didn't vote the first time (Shame on you) vote this time. Hopalong
  20. I'd listen to Toolguy, He knows what he's saying. He also recrowned a 6" barrel I installed onto a 646 after getting it rebored from 38/357 (686 Bbl) to .40 S&W. He told me it would be a good shooter...........Yep, way better than all my .45 cal revos (2-625, and 2-25s) by 50% @ 50 yds. Now having played with it some, I've decided the 6" 646 is the gun to play the game with. Btw, the 610 generally has been the best shooting revo from smith out of the box (as a whole, there are always exceptions) Hopalong
  21. Just some information for you fine folks. Friday shooting will start @ 9:00 Am. You can drop by and check in anytime on Friday, and Saturday AM (First shot Saturday 8:00 AM) Range officers need to be there about an hour early to go through the stages ect. (I'll have most ROs traveling with the squads, but some staying on indevidual stages to make sure they are consistantly run) Have had many phone calls, and e-mails 80 shooters is a very possible number. Don't quit promoting the match though. We'll have match booklets, printable on-line. No match booklets available at the range except to range officers. Range officers......If you haven't please get your hotel room, and I'll refund your room after the match. Any other questions, or comments ???? Congratulations to the US Revolver team.....3 out of 4 in the top 10 !!!! Congratulaions to Shane Coley from Mississippi for 10th overall in OPEN and Junior World Champion !!!! Congratulation to US Participants in World Shoot !!!! Next one in US @ Frank Garcias place in FL. Need to get USPSA to get a Team qualifying program up that includes all teams not just the "Popular" ones since it will be in US and there is no reason the best of the US can't attempt to participate. (Soap box off) See ya'll in 3 weeks. Hopalong
  22. OK here is the deal !!!! Late fees Waived !!! Since I was not elected President of USPSA (Thanks to all who did vote for me) I'm going to take the numbers from the first 3 matches to the next President and see IF we can make the Memphis Charity Challenge the OFFICIAL USPSA REVOLVER NATIONALS SO get out there and call, push, pull, or whatever you need to do to get more people to show up and shoot. We've got some good stuff for the prize table. Guns are going by Random drawing. but I've been working so it will not be a very extensive prize table compared to the last 2 matches. (we're not here for the prize table anyway right!!!!) Some of the Sponsors in NO particular order: North Mountain Springfield Precision Delta Bullets MGM Targets Shooters Connection CPWSA TK custom Moonclips Techwear (pending, Bobs @ World Shoot) Personal donations from other shooters Thanks to all who have donated. The MGM donations will be auctioned as usual with some other products, Please bring some $$$$ for that. We'll be raffling off a couple of guns (at least 1 M1a) so bring some $$$$ for that too. We have some typical MCC stages for you........FUN 237 rounds IF you don't make up a shot ect. ect. and so forth. POLISH PLATE RACK WILL BE ON HAND !!!!! Let's get the numbers up so we can have our own USPSA NATIONALS !!! Hopalong
  23. Unfortunately I have a commitment I can't get out of. I sure wanted to come down and shoot with you great folk though. I'm sending 2 free entries to the Memphis Charity Challenge for the Prize table though. Please come and shoot the Memphis Charity Challenge if you can. I know, I know, I know...Yes it is the weekend after the Gator classic, but it benefits LeBohneur Childrens Hospital and is the ONLY place where you will shoot with 70 other revolver shooters at a USPSA match. Website: www.memphischaritychallenge.com/ If you go there, we're raffling off a Springfield M1a (308 semi auto rifle) to help raise funds for the Hospital. See you next year @ next years Magnolia Classic, and ICORE Southern Regional. Sam
  24. Good to hear that. May God watch over him during his recovery and rehab. Hopalong
  25. The Memphis Charity Challenge (November 5) has given 12+ thousand to Childrens Hospitals here in the Memphis Area (St. Jude, and LeBohneur)...The afore mentioned hospital later told us they didn't want to be associated with Pistol shooting. LeBohneur JUMPED at the offer and has been very good to work with....We're going with them again this year. Take a trip to Memphis, bring a revolver and have fun raising $$$$ for the childrens hospital that turns no one away. Hopalong
