  1. Placed my order for my Smith & Alexander s/s arched mag guide for the colt today.
  2. Thanks for that, I had a look at the shoe and it is like the damned titanic, after I put the EGW trigger in it slopped all over the place. I have the EGW in my sig and it is much longer than most out there.
  3. Has anybody fitted an EGW Extended E trigger to a mkiv colt gold cup National Match series 80 ? I understand they require some fitting just wondering how much or whether I'm better putting a Wilson ultra light or similar in. Have just had a EGW Long disconnector, EGW hard sear and Koenig low mass hammer fitted but it still has the original steel trigger and I have long fingers.
  4. You don't , it turns itself off after 10 minutes. Bloody good units though.
  5. Gidday all, I have a 1911 and do not live in the US. I required a few new parts hammer, sear and ambi safety. I ordered these parts from Speed Shooters International and they arrived in less than a week! Fantastic service and highly recommend this outfit especially to anyone residing offshore.
  6. Sorry for your loss, cannot add anymore as it has been covered by others. The pain does go away eventually but you never forget. We put our pointer to sleep last year and my shepherd is 11 so his time is close - those of us who still have our dogs make sure we appreciate every minute with them.
  7. I have not but have previously looked at vz grips and then saw Larry davidsons, I would check to see if he does the carbon fiber grip. And if so buy from him.I know the grips you are referring to and they look great.
  8. I believe it is "something weird". I had an adjustable Bomar style put on and the slide had to be recut.
  9. Sorry Kent, we have been there twice now and the third is not too far away. They are your best friends and we are all lucky to have had them in our lives.
  10. Larry Davidson. He did my grenade punisher grips for my Sig 1911 and I have just ordered a pair of Chunky Horned Lizards for my Springfield. Does fantastic work. I also put an extended EGW trigger on my sig which helped.
  11. I was waiting and waiting for these to come up for sale and have now got a Springfield Trophy Match on back order instead.
  12. Sorry to hear about the issues. I use 230 grn LRN by Best Bullets at 1.265 and they have always fed perfectly in all magazines.Too short looks like the issue to my very inexperienced eye and based on your test results. You will enjoy that Sig once you start shooting it.
  13. Thanks all for the input on this. I currently use a Blackhawk Serpa which actually fits the sig 1911 tacops, problem is when you grab the release catch on the holster as you draw or rather do not release it correctly it gets expensive time wise. I have placed a small screw in there as of yesterday which prevents it from locking (jams it open), so far so good test wise. Otherwise it will be the blade tech or double alpha for the springfield - neither of which will likely fit the sig.
  14. What is a good holster for ipsc single stack classic ? I have a Springfield trophy match on the way for it. I hear blade tech are good but which one ?
  15. Larry Davidson , google davidson knives. He made my grips for my 1911 and the service is outstanding
  16. Mags are superb, would not hold 8 rds to start with (some of them) but after leaving some overnight loaded up the spring soon lossened up, I own 8 of these mags and all function flawlessly. Trigger improved with use but was vastly improved after the work by the smith, bang for buck these things are hard to beat. I have shot a 11/2 inch group at 25 metres freestyle with this (I wish I always shot like that). Go ahead and buy one and then get some cool grips from Larry davidson for it.
  17. I have one and are now buying a springer trophy match for ss classic as I cannot use mine in this division here in nz. Mine is wickedly accurate and I have never had an extraction or feeding problem after 3000 plus rounds. The trigger was horrible and I had this worked on and at the same same had a fibre optic front sight installed and a bomar style adjustable rear. Trigger pull is now around the 2.5 lb or a little higher, replaced trigger with an egw extended one. Depending what you will use it for buy it, the RO does have everything ready to go but no ambi safety. Plus sig mags are great.
  18. Hi Mike I have been using the Tanfog (Witness) 1911 for about three years now as my single stack comp gun and have been very impressed. It was surprisingly tight when I got it and has stayed that way since. Accuracy is very acceptable and is as good as others if not in some cases better than other high cost 1911's. The only work I did on mine was to add an adjustable sight, that is personal preference though, and also did some work to lighten the trigger which is not flash out of the box. Really the trigger is the only thing you probably need to do anything about otherwise it will do you very well and at a reasonable price compared to the cost of other 1911 models in NZ!! Hope this helps. Thanks for the info. Been looking at the 1911 custom which has adjustable sights and comes with 4 mags. Would definitely get the trigger worked on and possibly fo front sight. May have the option of getting a Dan wesson pm 7 which is all set to go - different money of course.
  19. I'm looking at either a 1911 witness custom or even the 1991 custom to use for ipsc single stack classic. Anybody have much experience with these, how well do they run, accuracy and what are the triggers like ? I currently shoot a sig tacops however it is not legal for single stack classic because of the rail on it, I do not really want to it milled off. It has had a lot of work done on it and is very accurate. Thanks
  20. Has anybody held or shot the Sps Enduro ? Looks very impressive. How do they compare with the Sti Edge for example. Looking at a double stack.45 for standard class. I already have a single stack .45 and reload for that one. Any info would be appreciated.
  21. Sorry to hear about it, and it never gets easier and it's not supposed to.
  22. I have a 1911 Tacops and are looking at getting a 9mm for production ( sig of course). Is the x5 all-round worth the extra money over say P226 tacops for example ?I want something that is accurate and that I will not need to replace at a later date. it will be used for IPSC production class only. I currently reload my .45 ammo. Any help or info would be appreciated.
  23. I would look at a sig sauer 1911 for the above reasons.
  24. I use only the stock sig sauer 1911 magazines with 8 and have never had any issues at all, when new I loaded them up and left them for a night or two and after that swet
