  1. Well time for an update - went out and did some slow fire accuracy work in the weekend and my best group of three shots at 25 yards freestyle was a sub 1.5 inch group, damn this thing is accurate I just wish I always shot like that! All in all the money spent was well worth it even if it did go back to the gun smith once after going full auto but no issues at all now, would have i bought one if I lived in the USA after spending all the money on it ? No I would have got a les Baer boss or something similar but we are limited for choice over here and I'm happy with what I now have and those Punisher grips are cool.
  2. I have a Sig Tacops 1911, great gun very accurate plus you get four magazines with it.
  3. Does anybody know off hand wether anybody can or will send the power plus mags from USA to NZ ?I have 8 round mags for my sig 1911 single stack and are after 10 or more. Thank you
  4. They look damned good as does the Dan Wesson.
  5. Here is my Sig 1911 TACOPs complete with Larry Davidson grips.untitled.bmpuntitled 2.bmp
  6. Here is the picture taken about one our before he went to sleep - warm sunny day. First thing we ever bought together. Rest in peace Kaiser.bmp
  7. I would not get grips from anybody else after dealing with Larry. Received by grenade punisher grips for my sig 1911 tacops the other day and they look and feel fantastic plus they are thicker than the stock ergo xt grips that came with the sig, which works well for my larger hands
  8. Kaiser the German Shorthaired pointer is now at peace. It was his time and he knew it, he usually hates having injections anywhere near his rear but today he did not even turn his head.He was struggling to breath just standing there so we had kept our end of the bargain and released him. The last two days have been hell leading up to this but now it is strangely peaceful (except Thor my shepherd who was in his run whining as he knew something was going on). Thank you all for your words and thoughts and keep hiting those 'A' zones!
  9. Well time goes too fast. Almost eight years to the day or so that I put my little mate Stein to sleep. He was a German shepherd with the heart of a lion - luckily I still have his brother Thor who is still firing on all eight supercharged methanol fed cylinders. Our 11 year old German short haired pointer has had problems with his larynx collapsing but can usually manage a short walk if it is cold. The last two days he has gone no further than 20 metres before stopping and literally gasping to get any air into his lungs, his quality of life has gone and in all fairness and respect to him it is time to join his old nemesis Stein up in those fields. The weather forecast is good for Saturday and a friend of ours who is a vet will come out in the afternoon and put him to sleep, damn this is hard I can barely read the keyboard with the tears.
  10. Welcome to the one stop shop from one of the many kiwi's here.
  11. Coming home is the worst, paw prints still visible, dog hair on the floor, leads hanging alongside empty bowls, the bond is unique and we are all truly lucky to have experienced it.
  12. sorry for the loss - I still grieve for my shepherd who died in 2004, it ripped me apart the pain was unreal. I was lucky to inherit his brother who was about to be put to sleep and he is now 10. They teach us what you we most need to learn about ourselves. Appreciate the time you have with your best friend because it is short too short.
  13. Well have put 200 rds through since the work has been completed, well work is not an accurate description - more like transformation this sig is fantastic and accurate as hell it is honestly like a new pistol. the sights area massive improvement over the combat night sights it had and the trigger is light at 2 lb 4oz but not so light that you will get into trouble. The Extended E Trigger helps but the thicker grips which should arrive in a couple of weeks will finish off and really help with that trigger finger placement This is one pistol that I will not sell!
  14. The grip is excellent - aggressive but not harsh. I have large hands and they are just too thin for me.
  15. well went to replace my 1911 grips as have the thin Ergo XT grips on the Sig. Contacted the big players and no help at all, at least Hogue replied to say they had none that fit , some of the others never replied. Stumbled across the name Larry Davidson - holy smoke this guy's service is amazing, have since ordered some custom thick Grenade Punisher Grips with a groove for my thumb to access the mag release. Highly recommend this guy if you want some grips.
  16. if I had the money for another.45 I would buy one of these. My TACOPS is great and with a good trigger job these 1911 MAX's would run very well indeed.
  17. The Sig is back! Here are some pics of the renewed TACOPS. Trigger now is set at 2lb and 4 oz, new EGW E trigger, SPS fibre optic front sight, Wilson Bomar style adjustable rear sight etc etc. Have ordered some Larry Davidson Punisher Grenade grips after much thought. Have yet to shoot it and will need to be careful with the new trigger or will be a DQ! untitled.bmp untitled sig.bmp
  18. Well spoke to the shop owner and the Gun Smith has completed all work. He wants to just test it this weekend before he sends it back to me. Will have it back next week and will post some pics then. This Sig will rock !
  19. Well 10-8 rear sight was a no go for shipping to NZ. Pistol is currently at gunsmith having the following done; Bomar style adjustable rear sight (off STI),SPS fibre optic front sight, trigger job including reduction of trigger pull to close to 2.5 lbs, installation of EGW Extended trigger, and I will put the new VZ Operator II grips on once they arrive from US. Cannot wait to try the difference. The current Ergo grips are very thin and I have large hands plus the extended trigger will help.
  20. Well finally chronographed the load and 5.1 grn of Winchester 231,Federal primers and Best 230 grn LRN hits 750-760 fps which makes major. Thanks all for the input.
  21. Thanks that instils great hope, have ordered the 10-8 .156 rear sight from Brownells and have blacked out the rear sights in the interim as well. These are great pistols just need a few tweaks.
  22. I have a sig 1911 TACOPS and the trigger is not nice. Has anybody done any trigger work on these 1911 sigs ? I want to lighten the trigger pull and also look at any skeleton trigger replacement options. ideally get the trigger pull down around the 3.5 lb mark. Cheers
  23. Sarg thank you for that, will check the magazine tube and ensure the pick up nozzle is securely seated on the end of the tube. It's all a learning experience.
  24. Well cranked out 800 round on new 550b and had no issues at all and then one day started having crushed primers and primers not seating correctly. Examined the pick up tube and it was having trouble picking up primers, checked my spares pack and all the green pick up ends have a very small lip part way in the tube that is maybe 2-3 mm long and is a couple of mm up from the bottom of the lip. Is this normal as when i have a full tube the last primer always gets stuck when I`m releasing them and I have to use the edge of the pin to free the top/last primer ? Any info on this would be much appreciated.
