  1. Production A Class, shot it cold. Draws suffered, bunch of low left charlies. And at 25yds my game falls apart. 40.44 Raw 15C 3D 4.2 Penalty 44.64 Final
  2. Thanks, if a bad anything ever leaves a factory I end up with it. Hopefully they can swap me out.

    VZ grip question

I bought two sets of the diamond backs, one set desert sand, the other black. The black ones are significantly sharper, grippier, more better than the desert sand ones. My sample size is two sets so I don't know if the desert sand is always like that or my set is just crap. Anybody else notice this, or have experience with it? I tried to call them, and emailed customer service, haven't heard back. I assume they're as busy as the rest of the industry.
  4. No. The Factory SP01 basepad covers up a longer magazine tube. Even if you put a flat basepad on, it would be the same length it is now. You can probably find someone to trade factory mags for mec-gars.
  5. I had an issue with mine after a steady diet of 2 3/4 value packs. The ports to bleed gas for heavier loads were completely plugged up with carbon. I had to use a drill bit to clean them out. I'm guessing the light loads don't move the spring enough to let them purge. Also, the heaviest 3.5" super thunder magnums I could find didn't clean them out, they just broke my bolt handle...so don't try that.
  6. Are you being sarcastic? Is that really what 9mm is going for now?
  7. Down here it's kind of "whatever you can find" right now. When the craziness subsides I would suggest the CCI minimags, I prefer the 36gn HP. Lately I've been using the ridiculously branded "choot-em" bulk packs, no annoying plastic cases to mess with and minor cost savings. Federal bulk makes a good practice substitute. I like the Federal Automatch as well, it just didn't go as many rounds between failures for me as the CCI did. I don't know if it was bullet lube, powder, both but it was noticeably dirtier than the CCI.
  8. First off, are you using a loading manual? The one I have and online both list 3.9 as a starting load for a 124 grain bullet. Use the lead data. http://data.hodgdon....tridge_load.asp Second, are you using a chrono? That's a pretty light load, I would say bring it up some, ideally with a chrono and see where you're at. Another tenth or two should run fine in the Glock 19. FWIW 4.1gn with 124 MGJHP at 1.1OAL gave me 1054fps in a CZ Shadow.
  9. I used several thousand in mine. Accuracy wasn't spectacular, but workable. I had to grind the slide stops a little to keep them from activating due to bullet profile, other than that no complaints. They were a little slow in a buddies Shadow, 127PF IIRC, but good in mine. So I'd check that.
  10. I believe the "typical load" for 9mm steel challenge around here would be winchester white box... I second the opinion above. If you already have a minor PF load worked up for production, just use that. If you were shooting major PF in open or limited I'd recommend something a little lower.
  11. My statement was based on practice results under a timer and at matches, also using timers. For me a light gun, with a vertically ported aluminum brake is faster. Every time. Only exception was MRDS, the weight savings didn't offset the C-More window size, ease of alignment, or something. They were slower.
  12. I feel like that post requires more information...what exactly happened there?
  13. I prefer a really light pistol, with an aluminum brake. Not the tactical solutions one with all the holes though, that just seems to add noise, I prefer vertical ports. It's not really the amount of recoil, it's the complete lack of it with a brake, I think it lets me call my shots better and transition harder to the next target since I have no doubt that the last shot was a hit.
  14. I can sort of provide some insight... I have the blade tech level 2 and like it, I use it for 3-gun primarily. Most of why I like it is because it's almost the exact same motion to drop the hood as a 6004, which doesn't really help you. I have a level 3 for glock and don't mind it, if level 3 is mandatory. The only other option I've personally used is Safariland 6004 style which has the hood in almost exactly the same place, occupying the same amount of space. I use the model for a Beretta Vertec w/light and it fits great. I use that one for night matches and training. And a final note, if you have the factory shadow safeties on your pistol it can be a problem. With the Safariland there's a doesn't fit issue, since it wasn't designed for it. The Bladetech will engage the safety at half cock when holstered(some peoples will engage on fully decocked too). I generally start at half cock except USPSA matches. Thin safeties eliminate this problem. Cocked and locked isn't an option with either of the holsters I mentioned as the hoods can't close. So to make a short story long, no I'm not aware of any other level 3 holsters.

    Fiocchi 124GR 9MM

I shot 500 rounds of Fiocchi 124 grain truncated something through my Shadow with a 13lb uncut mainspring. No issues, but I haven't really found anything to give me a problem. Is yours not setting off other brands?
  16. FWIW Quickload shows making minor well under max pressure using titegroup in a .357sig with a 124. For 130pf it looks like you'd need about 4.4. Quickload has been pretty spot on for me, but no promises. If it were me I'd just start low and work up, check primers for signs of pressure etc...
  17. Are you using case lube? New starline was sticky in mine, went away with lube.
  18. Damn, we could have traded. I switched TO the Hornady bullet drop die on my RCBS feeder. The little plastic inserts in the die would only last me 5-10k rounds. RCBS sent me a pack for free when I called but it was a pain to have to pull it apart and swap them out since it only broke when I needed the ammo the next day. As for the OPs problem I use very little flare on mine approx .382 and it works great. You might try giving the collets a little more room to move and adjusting the height of the feeding die as well.
  19. Thanks all, I went ahead and ordered one. I figured worst case I'm some marinetex away from a nice fit. The only one I think I'll have a problem with is the 9mm Tactical, I had to reshape and thin the front of the trigger guard to get a light and switch to fit properly. It's for 3 gun so not really an issue.
  20. Yes, some more than others. The front and underside of a tactical have been thinned so an X300 w/ a DG switch will fit. The Open and Limited guns both have stippling on the front and underside of the trigger guards, as well as double undercuts. I can probably get pics later if that would help.
  21. Tired of adjusting the muzzle platform on my CR Speed going from Limited to Open so looking for a new holster, like the looks of the Racer. I'm concerned about fit since all of my trigger guards have been modified in some way, stippled, undercut, ground for weapon light clearance etc... Will that be an issue? If so are the critical tolerances available somewhere? Thanks in advance. Alan
  22. Might consider the Hornady XTP, not the greatest performer expansion wise, but extremely accurate and readily available. It should do what you're looking for. Appears to be in stock at midway.
  23. I went up to 4.8, pressure signs and still huge ES. Messed with the OAL and crimp to no avail. Same performance in STI, Glock, and CZ's, except velocity obviously. I'm giving up on it. I was looking for an "in stock" alternative to N320, it's back in stock now so I ordered 20lbs, should last a while. Tried WST and Solo 1000 also, didn't care for them for various reasons.
  24. Umm NO! No permutation of those actions should result in the hammer falling. Your rifle is unsafe/broken until you figure out what happened and fix it. I'd start with the trigger, I've had plenty of aftermarket triggers of various makes wear or round the sear until they doubled or in a few cases could fire when bumped right. Also, 44 rounds in my experience is about 140 short of a cookoff.
  25. I don't know what second place was using but Aimpoint or EoTech optics accounted for first, third and fourth at LaRue this year. I used the EoTech XPS3-2 and wouldn't have done any differently if I had it to do over again. I used a 100 yard zero and the second dot was on at 460. My only problem was finding the dot spacing information. I called EOTech and couldn't get the person who knew on the phone. Based on my guesstimation at the range with several methods I ended up using 2.75 mils.
