  1. Will do... I just have no starting point for OAL (mainly for the Berrys FP) So I'll see how far into the case the GDHP sits based on Alliants data, and see what length the Berrys are at when seated at the same depth.
  2. Thanks. I'll compare these to my bullets, and make adjustments.
  3. I'll have to agree that any oil probably works fine. However, I like a mixture of Mill-com TW25B and MC2500 on my rails and lugs, and FP-10 or Weapon Shield everywhere else. Seems to work great, and I like my 1911s WET.
  4. Guys, I have quite a bit of Alliant American Select that I'm going to try in 9mm. Alliant has some good published data for this, but only shows loads with Speer GDHP bullets. I use Xtreme plated 115grn RN, and Berrys 115grn FP. Alliants data for Speer GDHP 115grn is: min OAL 1.125, with 5.4grns. SO, I need to translate OAL to the bullets I'll be using. These three different bullets have very different profiles, but I can figure OAL for my Xtremes and Berrys if I know the length of a Speer GDHP 115grn 9mm. Anyone have one to measure? Or any advice? Thanks.
  5. I can reload .40 for about $.16 a round. THAT'S why I reload. $103/1K Xtreme plated bullets $24/1k primers $25/1k brass $11/1k powder If I didn't buy brass it'd be much cheaper. Going slow I can load 400 rounds/hour on my SDB. I dont buy 9mm brass, and last time I checked, I was at about $.10 a round.
  6. Swapping the bows seems like a pretty good solution. Wish I would have gone that route now. Of course, Ive already ordered an STI gunsmith blank, darn.
  7. Thanks. I am buying just the unused tubes an followers from someone without the basepads. I was told they were tuned by you guys (Brazos), and they had the +1 pads originally?
  8. Hey guys, I was wondering what the chances were of still fitting the guage, if I put Dawson SNL pads on some Brazos tuned STI .40 tubes? I want to be able to hold 20 reloadable as easily as possible. I BELIEVE Brazos lowers the lips, so I'm thinking SNLs would probably work? Thanks for the info.
  9. Hmm, I admittedly did want the cool factor.... But it's looking like an STI blank is the way to go.
  10. Guys, I would like to put an SVI "insert" type trigger in my STI gripped limited gun, but I have heard from a few people that it takes A LOT of fitting and grip modification? However, there sure are a bunch of STIs out there with SV triggers.... So whats the scoop? Will the channels in the STI grip have to be changed? Trigger bow changed? Thanks for the info.
  11. The racers look like they cover a lot more of the mag? Is there still plenty of room on the mag exposed for grabbing?
  12. So, I searched around a little, but did not see any recent comparisons of the plastic DAA "Racer" mag pouches, and CR Speeds? I need some new pouches for a limited setup, and just dont see spending the $60 on the Racemasters. SO, my question is, does anyone have experience with the plastic DAAs vs the CR speeds? Which is a better buy/performs better? Also, are the DAA "Racers", and "Racemasters" the same dimensions? The only DAA plastics ones Ive seen looked a bit bulky.
  13. Perfect, I actually like that better than an external knob. The cover doesnt "pop" out to easily does it? (as in during a match?)
  14. Thanks... Racer it is I think. Is the "tension" adjustable? Just not externally?
  15. So, to clarify... Has anyone compared the lock and drawstroke of a Racer to a Racemaster? I dont care about being able to switch guns, so I'm wondering if I'm giving up anything by going with the Racer?
  16. I will be working up some American Select 9mm loads over the next week or so. I have A LOT of it sitting around for my Skeet and Trap loads. Like toddrod said, Ive heard it does well in 9mm, so I figured I would give it a shot. Seems to be very close to 320 on most burn charts.
  17. Welcome from Brandon Mississippi. As others have said, come out to the club in Byram. This Saturday we will be shooting our "Clash of Metal". Its like drag racing with pistols. Its a great even to come out and try, as there is no movement and very little reloading. Check out MSgunowners.com for more info.
  18. This. If you shoot more than 8-10 times a stage, you might as well just slow down a make a reload. I shoot steel with a 9mm STI Trojan. Love it. Have no problem being competitive with it.
  19. Another vote for the Trojan. Mine has been perfect. The slide/frame fit has gotten a little loose... but it has not affected accuracy or reliability whatsoever.
  20. Why? Your 9mm SS should be 10rds. Sorry, that was my point. I am favored in the bias by shooting a 10rd minor gun.
  21. This. I usually end up comparing myself to production shooters after matches.
  22. I shoot SS minor. Why? Because the only SS I have is a 9mm Trojan. I love it. Production is by FAR the largest division at our local matches, so many times I feel like stages are a little biased toward the 10 round guys. Alot of guys on my normal squads shoot production, so it lets me talk through/break down the stages with them. I probably dont shoot it like SS should be shot, and it would probably bite me at bigger matches, but I can run the 9mm fast. I drop points sometimes sure, but it hasnt been enough to affect my SS finishes in local matches ( So few SS shooters ). I enjoy shooting 9mm out of a 1911. Do I think its viable in higher levels of competition? Not really.
  23. I had a problem with my Trojan doing this a while back. I was at a match, and my FO insert was gone at the end of each stage? When I got home, I switched to a new rod all together, and chunked the piece I was using. Havent had a problem since. I have no idea if a weak piece of FO rod was really the problem, but it seemed to help. Also, Ive heard (I think from Dave Dawson) that some solvents and gun cleaners can make the rode brittle. Just ideas.
  24. A 682 Gold E is an amazing skeet or sporting gun. I tend to agree with the notion that it is probably the most bang for your buck in competitive shotgunning. I know multipleguys with tens of thousands of rounds through them with zero problems. The K guns are king in the skeet world. there are probably more High overall wins in the last 15 years with Kolars and Krieghoffs than any other shotgun produced. Not enough difference in the two to matter. They are premium guns designed to break clays, and will do that all day long. Just depends on which hat looks better on you.
