  1. I'm curious about this--you've seen a Glock 9mm blow cases four times with (presumably) minor loads? Wow. When you say "blow cases" what exactly do you mean? What happened? Were they all reloads? Same person? New/old glocks? I'd really like to know more details, if you have the time. T. Separation of the base from the case twice, and twice firing out of battery, case was completely mangled.
  2. Yea I got that. So for the sticklers, no I have not shot a CC tuned Tanfoglio, which considering CC's reputation is surely a wonderful weapon. My point was that for 1775 USD, that's closing in custom limited gun money, for which I'd rather go see my local smith and get a STI framed custom. Personally I really dig the CZ75 style platforms and shoot them in both production and limited (SP01 and CZ TS). Again, if money was no object I'd be shooting a 6 inch fat free style 2011, and that is partly what makes the CZ75 platform so great, the entry fee is relatively low.
  3. If I wanted to spend that much I'd get an STI. CZ tactical sport would equal this gun, with out the checkering for 900 bucks... I was hot to get a EAA longslide in .40 until I found one at Gander Mountain in .45. Maybe it was a bad example, but it was perhaps the loosest slide to frame fit I'd ever seen. Trigger was horrible, and the small machine worked looked sloppy. Looked like it should have cost about 300 bucks instead of 800.
  4. BS or not, I am not BSing that I've seen four Glock 34s blow cases during matches... Never seen any other weapon do this or a glock with a KKM barrel. Your mileage may vary
  5. I shoot a modified SP01. In a 9mm production platform, don’t think it can be beat. Looked at the Glock closely and still wouldn’t mind owning one, but two issues really pushed me towards the CZ. First is that I reload and thus wouldn’t want to put reloaded rounds down an OEM Glock barrel. I only shoot jacketed bullets but sill would want the extra safety provided by a fully supported chamber. I’ve seen too many .40 Glocks blow out the back of reloaded .40 brass during our local matches. So add a KKM barrel on top of the price and you’re smack at the same cost the Shadow, roughly. Secondly, I’ve never felt a Glock trigger that I really liked. Yes, the Vanek triggers are much better over stock, but I’ve got a 5 lbs DA and a 2 lbs SA trigger pull on my SP01, Matt Mink tuned. If you’re really planning on shooting only production, the SP01 would be the way to go, but if you’re wanted to shoot some limited, than the .40 makes sense. In that case, go ahead and get a CZ Tactical Sport, comes ready to run with 4 mags, no trigger work needed. I sincerely wish I would have bough one first thing.
  6. Just thought I'd let folks know. I've been running two of Angus' new basepads with CZ custom shop spring and get 20 rounds, slide locks back and I can perform reloads no problem. They work!
  7. Does anyone know what the stock recoil spring is?
  8. I don’t have the quite the experience that eerw has with the SP01, but I have put 6.5K round down range with mine, which was also tuned by Matt Mink. It’s been as reliable as any pistol I’ve shot to that extent with the exception of a Glock 17. Overall shootability is much better with the CZ, for me at least. I’ve broken one trigger spring, but no issues since installing 2nd spring, no other parts breakage. One gripe is that the safety isn’t the single action style. This can be remedied of course, but currently is prohibitively expensive. Just can’t get down with a 150 dollar safety. Your mileage may vary. Handled an EAA 6 inch hunter few weeks back that felt like it was going to come a part in my hands. Finish on these guns I get the feeling varies WIDELY.
  9. Okay, so what is the procedure for putting these on?
  10. SP01 slide would be a just switch onto a SA frame right? So all it would need would be a trigger job? Hmmm, thinking...
  11. Thinking about just going with a 75 SA. I really need to get my .40 cal dies set up. My TS still hasn't been fired yet.
  12. http://www.czub.cz/index.php?p=32&idp=...208〈=en My SP01 is great but lacks the SA style safeties. While I love the gun, not sure I would sink the money into it again. I'd love a spare or actually getting second SP01, just can't get down with the 150 USD for the SA safety. Is CZ USA going to import this bad boy or just keep getting Angus making "Shadows?"
  13. It appears that the trigger guard on the Elite Limited is more undercut than the Match. Is this the case? What’s the real world price difference between the two? Does anyone have a direct shooting comparison between the two, especially trigger pull?
  14. Manually indexed shell plate, bad for me. I've never had a squib or a double charge. Knock on wood.... Get a 650 w/ case feeder if money is no option...
  15. If you're interested in a SS there is no reason to get anything other than a basic Kimber with adjustable sights. Should run around 700 bucks. Baer is next step up, and worth the money. Only go custom for double stack STI.
  16. S&B always are hard to seat for me too. Ended up going with Federal primers. Sure seem a lot easier to seat for me.
  17. I went through the exact same decision matrix when transitioning from shooting only Bullseye style to USPSA matches. Initially for cost, the 9x19 swayed me as there are a lot of double stack 9x19 platforms out there, brass is free. Shot several different pistols and liked the CZ the best, with the XD being a close second, the low barrel to frame axis combined with lower felt recoil was the clincher for me, the CZ was a little cheaper too. Bought a CZ SP01, while I’ve been extremely happy with it, I recently bought a CZ STD IPSC, which is a TS with an adjustable rear sight. Haven’t gotten a chance to shoot it yet as the slide is off at Virgil Tripp’s getting cobra coated, but have high hopes for the platform. Production is well, production. The guns just aren’t as sweet, the trigger pull particularly. My SP01 was worked over by Matt Mink, and it’s less than 2 lbs, but not everyone has someone like him local and there is still that huge amount of take up even in SA mode. To be honest, I missed the feel of a single action trigger, hence the TS, and had the desire to shoot limited at major power factor. I’m rambling. If you reload get the .40, if you don’t get the 9x19. Angus Hobdell says he’s getting TS top ends from CZ, so you may be able to do both on one frame soon.
  18. I'm so far into my SDB, don't think I could afford to get out. Started out with .45, then bought .38/.357, then 9x19 and now finally .40 which I haven't set up yet. Everything works great and the learning curve was no problem. Left primers in it one time and had to replace the plastic piece at the end of the internal primer magazine and the platic rod that pushes the primer forward, not bad for 20K rounds. Been thinking about a 650, mainly for easier primer seating, but it sounds like that isn't tje case.
  19. So do I have this right, 30 bucks for a Taylor Freelance basepad that takes a dremel tool to fit for only one more round reliably? Think I'll stick with the 17 round magazines.
  20. Do the TF basepads work without tweaking for +2 with teh 17 round TS mag?
  21. I'll take an AK over an AR series any day in real world conditions. Why does SOCOM use so many M14s and HK sub guns? Glock 35 fired out of battery during last Sunday's match, blew out the magazine and extractor rendering it unserviceable. This makes three Glock “kabooms” I’ve witnessed in shooting IPSC for two years.
  22. Don't know about LEO, but the 1st time I handled any CZ75 variant was during the foreign weapons course at Ft. Irwin during the early 90's. The instructors there said their samples had never had a single part break in well of 50K rounds. 2nd time was a buddy's who carried it while an 18D, and could have carried anything he wanted. At the time they weren't readily available commerically. My trigger return spring went south in 2K and who knows how many dry firings.
  23. Something to note, my SP01 is pretty sensitive to primer depth with a cut 15 pound mainspring.
