  1. Factory ball will run in almost anything. One's own reloaded rounds, depends on the loader and components.
  2. Get it through Angus or Matt upfront. Don't screw around piecing it together. You're have the same amount of money it it either way but with a lot less anxiety. BTW if you get extended safties fit, the set from a 75SA won't fit the SP01. Found out the hard way. 60 bucks down the drain.
  3. Fired case is catching on the SWC base. I'm one of those who just has to see it for himself I suppose. Thanks for the help, no more LSWC for me.
  4. I guess the back of the fired case could be hitting the base of the round that is on the top of the mag getting ready to be chambered, but the thing is that I had this issue much worse when I was using up the last of some low recoil I'd loaded for bulls eye style shooting and the problem disappeared when loading to make major power factor. Regardless I just gave myself an inguinal hernia picking up a case of 200 gr .45 bullets from Montana Gold complements of the USPS. Also received a 16 lbs Wolff Spring, so I'll see if that helps at all.
  5. I just don't understand how a bullet profile affects extraction? The bullet has already traveled down the barrel.
  6. Why does hitting the bullet shoulder keep the fired case from ejecting?
  7. So you think the issue will resolve with 200 gr jacketed bullets from Montana Gold?
  8. After getting the trigger where I want it, my XD45 tactical will double feed if I don’t have a really good grip on it. It seems over sprung for my 4.3 gr 200 gr. Lswc loads and I was thinking of going to a 16 lbs spring as the slide doesn’t travel far enough to kick the fired casing out from the extractor with the factory spring. Am I on the right track?
  9. Hi Anthon.. I have most of the internals out..polishing things up a bit.. I ended up replacing the thumbsafeties with another set..as there was a small ding in the original set..so I need to have them fitted up when the action job and new hammer are installed.. My SP01 won't mind the ding!
  10. Don't have to change shims in 3 CR speed mag pouches to use XD45 magazines. All I have to do is switch between holsters, CZ Tactical Sport to XD45. I'm going to get rid of the rest of those 200 gr lswc hanging around.

    Bikers...

Yea, most drivers don't understand that you have just has much right to the road that they do. I'd make a comment about cell phone yammering SUV driving fat bodies but my wife tells me in not a in the army any more and can't make cracks like that.

    Bikers...

Yep I've been riding hydraulic disk brakes for 3 years now. I would like to see those more on road bikes...they are coming. I still prefer the ride of my hardtail with respect to handling and response. Love the hardtail - 29er. Desert trails for adrenalin and blood. Road for cardio and a great ride. Are the big hoops that much better? The only one I've ridden seemed to spin up a lot more slowly.

Anything with two wheels. Love mountain the most. Road next best thing. Motorcycles rock!

    ER Doctors

That line going up your arm is sign that the bacteria from the bite overwhelmed the immune response mediated by C4/CD8 cells in lymph nodes located in your hand. Glad you went into the ER and that someone listened to you. The patient usually tells you what's wrong, if they know. Often they don't know that they "know."
  15. Do you reload? Unmodified glocks never malfunction in 9x19 with factory ammo, that's what they were designed to use and do it well. Will your SS run with factory ball .45? Absolutely. Will it hold up? If you run enough ball to break it, you will have spent 15K on factory ammo. Don't worry about the weapon, worry about feeding it.
  16. My gun doctor ripped off seven rounds and had one light strike which he and I attributed to a high primer. Turns out that after having set plus a few hundred dry fires, the particular striker spring I got from Springer Precision just wasn't strong enough.
  17. It passes the pencil test, albeit not a lot, but it will clear the barrel.
  18. I just wanted to pass this along, it doesn’t have much relevance to IPSC competition but hopefully someone on the forum can benefit from my teachable moment. A few weeks ago, I decided that I wanted a relatively inexpensive .45, <600 USD, to accompany me on dual sport motorcycle rides and also to keep out of the safe at home for rapid defense. After handling nearly all the polymer .45’s and the low end 1911’s with the exception of the STI Spartan, which I would have gotten but I needed a trade. Ended up with a Springfield Tactical 45 ACP. Threw on some Dawson fixed sights, springs, sear, and trigger bar from Springer Precision. The trigger pull dropped to 2.3 lbs and I was mighty happy. Well finally got a chance to test fire it at the range today, and well, it was misfire after misfire. Light strikes! Apparently the lighter striker spring from Springer Precision is TOO LIGHT, as only one out of 7 to ten rounds would ignite! Granted I do all my reloading on a SDB and it’s priming mechanism, isn’t the best and I’ve been known to not exactly have the deepest seated primers, but never had an issue with any other 45 ACP pistol I own. It made for great trigger practice as my seizure sized flinches were easier to see. Please, if you have any intention to use a weapon to defend your family, run a few rounds down range, especially if you’ve swapped out any parts. Switched the OEM striker spring back in and I’ll post the results, but I expect that will be the end of light strikes
  19. First caveat, I don’t own one. I recently decided that I wanted a low cost .45 for the house, motorcycle, etc, that would serve me in IPSC production too as I’ve got 4K lswc 200gr sitting around the house. Checked out four samples of the M&P and all of them had unacceptable triggers. I wasn’t expecting anything special, just a duty trigger. These dudes had pulls that out right sucked, long, heavy, gritty, and sloppy feeling. Yes, they were that bad. Magazines are blued steel, hold ten rounds and were 40 USD. Springfield XD45 tactical trigger felt Hammerli smooth in comparison to the M&P, 13 round stainless steel magazines, which cost 25 USD I might add. To top it off, it felt better in my hand any of the M&P backstraps. YMMV, but from what I saw the M&P 45 isn’t ready for prime time. Odd because a 9mm sample I fondled a few months ago had perhaps the best OEM striker fired trigger I’ve ever felt.
  20. Yea, try getting parts from Springfield for an XD. SP01 recoils much softer than the XD as well. We're lucky in the US having Angus and Matt getting parts to shooters.
  21. Have you changed the recoil spring back to the OEM? My tuned SP01 via Matt Mink has run 7K, without problems, other than needing federal primers. Sensitive to the safety too. Wish I had the SA style safeties but for 150 bucks...have to wait.
  22. Probably the most accurate center fire pistol I own, which includes a Wilson Combat Classic. The best thing is that runs out of the box with a 2 lbs trigger that doesn't need any work. No negatives with the pistol at all, comes with 4 mags, add Angus' base pads and you're off. Been running Zero 180 gr JHP with Titegroup.
