  1. With the std Glock barrel you will get better accuiracy with .356" bullets like the Hornady HAP 121 or 125's or the Zero #161 125gr JHP. Those two bullets have consistently shot the best groups in std glock barrels in every Glock I have group tested. In my extensive tests from a rest the powder that grouped the best at minor power factor velocities was Accurate #2. I have shot alot of VN320 but it did not group as well, nor did Titegroup. WW231 was a close second but is not quite as clean or as soft at the same velocity. If you want to try the load I use: 3.9Grs. of AA#2, Fed or Win SP primer, OAL=1.130". Chrono's @ 1040 FPS (130PF) out of my 34. You will be pleasently surprised. The bullet makes a much larger difference in Glock barrels than it does in others.(I also shoot Springfield XD's) That load also happens to be the most accurate in my XD9 Tactical but the difference is much smaller and I can substitute an MG or PD (.355") bullet and still get very tight groups

  3. Once the slide is locked back, you can remove the cover normaly, remove the striker, then remove the slide. For future reference, if you're going to work on a glock, buy the short orange (armorers) slide cover plate (about $3)that's what it's for!
  4. Both powders should work well at minor velocities and both work well with lead bullets. My old manual shows 3.2-3.6 grs. of Solo 1000 for a 158 lead bullet with 3.6 giving 884 fps from a 6" barrel. My Speer manual shows 3.8-4.3 grs. of 231 for the same bullet with 3.8=783fps and 4.3=863fps from 6" barrel. You will need 781fps to 812fps for PF=125-130. In my experience Solo will be softer at same velocity. As for accuracy, both should be acceptable but group testing in your revolver is the only way to find the best for it.

    Bullets

Commercial jacketed bullets are not molded, they are swaged
  6. The PRP Ultimate match trigger kit I installed in my XD made a world of difference. Worth every penny in my opinion.
  7. Biggest bang for your buck with no chance of harm would be to order a sear spring and trigger spring from PRP. Very low cost and will reduce your trigger pull considerably.
  8. What weight recoil spring are you using?
  9. My preference is Dawson fixed rear in plain black, Dawson fiber optic front. His height recommendations are right on for me and you can try red or green since the front comes with both colors of fiber. His "Happy Camper" policy of insuring you get the sights that work for you is the best. Before you order, try to check out some different sights at the range or on your shooting buds pistols to see what widths you like for front and rear.
  10. What Superdude said! With 124 gr JHP like MG, Hornady, or Zero I have to load at or shorter than 1.125" (actually 1.115" with the Hornady HAP) for my XD. With my Glock I can load out to .140"-.150"
  11. I've shot alot of 4.3 Grs. HP38 behind the 124 HP berrys and it's accurate and makes minor out of my Glock 34 and my XD but 3.8 grs. of AA #2 is more accurate, and slightly softer at same PF out of both pistols.

  13. Just for reference: I've shot alot of that bullet using 4.2 grs. HP 38, Win SP primer, loaded @ 1.125". It's accurate out of my Glock 34 and my XD9 Tac and gives 1050 FPS (131PF). But you should always chamber check the length for any new bullet or different pistol as Jack said above.
  14. Data is in here: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141230&st=25 OAL 1.125" to 1.140" for Glock or XD. Best to do a chamber check for OAL
  15. 2.4-2.5 grs. will work pretty well in 38 spl. brass. I've shot quite a few when I was shooting PPC. Also shot a lot of 3.1 grs. of WW 231 but 3.0 grs AA #2 was consistently the most accurate out of my revolvers.
  16. My bad...forgot the link Here you go:http://www.biggameinfo.com/index.aspx?page=%2fbalcalc.ascx
  17. Here's a ballistics calculator for you to play with. You just plug in your data and hit calculate. For games with a 124 going 1040 the optimum 0 distance would be 50 yds as that gives you the least deviation from muzzle to 50. As you can see it's a pretty flat trajectory with a 9 with that load.
  18. Hodgdon Data for 230 FMJ shows 4.0gr. max barely making major at about 739 FPS and shows min @ 3.7grs. in the low 600's. Probably need to bump it up a bit
  19. I have used alot of VV N320 and N310 in both 9mm minor (320) and 45ACP target/bullseye shooting. I haven't ever used either for major but I have shot alot of 45 with the Nosler 185 JHP @ 1.2" OAL with both powders. One thing I saw when chronographing and shooting groups with both powders was higher velocity (25-35 FPS), lower ES and SD (sometimes 1/2), and better groups when using Federal primers (#150 in 45 and #100 in 9mm). I can't explain it, but it was repeatable and consistent. I have seen just the opposite with other handgun and rifle powders at times when changing primers Might be worth a try
  20. Been Loading AA#2 for years. No attack on the plastic (RCBS/Redding)AA#2 is also the most accurate powder in both my Glock 34 and my XD 9 Tac. Didn't like anything about Titegroup. Having said that, I don't leave any powder in my measures when I'm not loading.
  21. You're joking right? I shoot AA #2 with 125 JHP's and I get almost no residue after several hundred rounds. If you're getting that kind of mess it must be the bullets or the lube By the way, the only powder I've ever seen run hot enough to melt a fiber optic sight is TG My experience has been that #2 is very dirty. YMMV. Just curious; were you shooting lead or jacketed? I'm shooting Zero jacketed. It's not as clean as VN320 but in my guns it's more accurate, still pretty clean, and at minor velocity just as soft or softer.
