  1. HI The 75B/85 Combat/85B can be shot in IDPA SSP & ESP Divisions, IPSC Production and USPSA Production The SP-01, the SP-01 Shadow can be shot in IDPA SSP & ESP IF you get the weight down to 39oz or less. Both are good to go for IPSC/USPSA Production. IPSC & USPSA both have approved gun lists and you might want to check on their website. The .22LR Kit fits all of the above - I have one and use it on all three of the above. Take Care Bob
  2. Not sure of the method BUT the trigger pull weight cannot be less than five lbs. for IPSC Production. The CZ's are measured from the center of the trigger where the curve is at it's maximum. That is how mine was checked at the last Qualifier I shot. Take Care Bob
  3. I have to call BS on this one. Take a look at the recommend loads for the .41LC using Bullseye. There has never been a labratory induced "detonation" ever. Not one. Go over to the Cast Bullet Forum if you want to find loads using reduced powder charges using cast bullets. 10 gr of Unique in rifle cases under lead bullets is almost a standard gallery load. 16 gr of 2400 in virutally any of the military cartridges is used regularly by cast shooters as a starting point for developing loads using cast bullets. DonT - I shot over 5,000 rounds of 2.8 gr of Titegroup under my 180 gr lead bullets in .40cal. last year. Load makes minor PF for IPSC and IDPA . Load is soft shooting and entireingly safe. I find it amazing that folks can feel safe to load near the maximum in their firearms but attribute almost mysterious qualities to a couple of flakes of powder if used by themselves. Take Care Bob
  4. Spot on answer. In USPSA, things are quite different. Well not quite the right answer. IPSC Production is limited to 10 rds. The CZ SP-01 Shadow is an outstanding pistol and has been in the hands of the IPSC World Champion for the past two years. In addition the CZ Team won the team honours at the Worlds this year and I believe at the last as well. The CZ's do quite well in Open Division as well though up here the STI's rule. We see some Glocks in Production but lately more M&P 9MM guns along with the CZ's. Take Care Bob
  5. I tried 800X in .45acp and found it to be to slow a powder. I had a lot of unburned powder over the bench with very spotty results. Win 231 is one of a number of powders that are much better powder for the .45acp IMHO. Take Care Bob
  6. You might want to check with USPSA. I believe the CZSP-01 Custom has recently been ruled illegal for USPSA Production Division. The gun has always been illegal for IPSC Production. You might want to look at the SP-01 Shadow. It is very popular in IPSC and is the winningest pistol right now world wide in IPSC Production. There are minor differences in the frames of the SP-01 and the SP-01 Shadow. I have both and there is no comparison between the Shadows trigger pull and the SP-01 as they come from the factory. The SP-01 comes with a firing pin block while the Shadow does not. The Shadow weighs more as well. Take Care Bob
  7. That is the answer. Try a 15# spring. I suspect Mink put a 13# spring in the gun to further reduce trigger pull. Take Care Bob
  8. Hi I cast my own bullets and use a soft lube and experience no leading in my M&P 9. If you do experience leading from commercial bullets, the easiest way to get it out is to take a copper cleaning brush and wrap some 100% copper Chor Boy kitchen cleaning pad strands around the brush. A couple of strokes and the lead is out of the barrel. Works slick and your barrel is super clean. Saves a lot of work fiddling around with chemical crap that seldom works anyway. Take Care Bob
  9. 4.5 gr of Win 231 will get you to PF of 138 with Montana Gold Bullets. Those stats from a 1911 9MM. 4.3 grain load should be over 125. Take Care Bob
  10. Ah the difference between men and boys is the cost of their toys...and little else. Enjoyed the video. With everything else going on around us it is nice to see guys with a sense of humour. Take Care Bob
  11. I have three season on one of my guns using FO sights and have yet to break a rod. I use the gun for IDPA and IPSC. I know they do break, I just haven't broken one. When I do I will simply replace the rod. Take Care Bob
  12. Well, darn it, that sucks, I suppose there is some technical reason that suggests that the neoprene makes them easier to grab a hold of or some such... Darn it! Not really. It's just that the overall length is the overall length. Eventually someone would make a basepad that skirted the rules and added capacity. As it stands, it's very clear cut. It either fits the gauge or it doesn't...no room for interpretation. R, For club shoots why would it matter. You aren't shooting for cars! If I had to shoot indoors with a concrete floor for club shoots I would put them on. I can't believe anyone would be anal enough to care. When you shoot a qualifier or a sanctioned match if IDPA ...take them off. Take Care Bob
  13. I have the Tanfoglio (EAA Witness is the US) Model "L" and even with the shorter slide installed it weighs to much for IDPA SSP. I have shot it in ESP with decent results but prefer a 1911 in 9MM when shooting ESP. While it is possible to get the CZ's down to below 38 oz for IDPA SSP the Tanfoglios all seem to be to heavy. Take Care Bob
  14. The 9MM requires a taper crimp only. Just remove the belling is all you have to do. The bullet is retained by case friction. Do not apply a roll crimp. Take Care Bob
  15. The EAA Elite Stock is made by Tanfoglio out of Italy and is quite popular in IPSC up here as well as in Europe. The availablity of parts to swap legally is quite limited, unlike CZ. I have one Tanfoglio and I have to say it is finished much better than my CZ's and after 5,000 rounds has a very good trigger pull and compares very favourably to my SP-01 Shadow. I will let American posters comment on the service EAA provides. We do get excellent service out of our importer in Canada. Releasing the hammer to fully decock the CZ and clones is quite easy to do and had been done safely by shooters for years. The SP-01 Shadow has, for sometime now, been the winningest pistol in IPSC Production Division. This is not the CZ USA Custom pistol that has recently been ruled out of USPSA Production Division. That gun was never legal in IPSC Production. Take Care Bob
  16. 3.8 gr of 231 will cycle your slide and is pretty soft shooting. Take Care Bob
  17. Thousandths of an inch is nothing to worry about. Your gun will never know the difference. Take Care Bob
  18. My favourite load for 125 gr FMJ is 4.7 gr of Unique. This load makes PF for IPSC/IDPA/USPSA. I load them to 1.15. Take Care Bob
  19. As a matter of interest did they weigh down to a tenth of an ounce or did they round to the nearest ounce? Take Care Bob
  20. I don't mean to be a smart a$$ but do they chamber in your gun? If so go shoot them. If you are using Dillon dies, you might want to purchase a Lee sizing die. The Lee's run lower down on the case and will get the Glock bulge, if there is any, on the brass. The chamber of your gun is a better case gauge then any you can buy. Just remove the barrel from your gun and drop the loaded rounds in the chamber. If they fit then you should be good to go. Take Care Bob
  21. I use 4.1 gr of Win 231 under Lyman 356402 124 gr Truncated cone bullets using Win SPP. Makes PF for IDPA and IPSC. Take Care Bob
  22. 5.3 gr of Win 231 under my 200 gr LSWC makes major with ease. Your 5 gr of 231 is just a tad to light. My test loads are shot over a Shooting Chrony. Take Care Bob
  23. Nope. STI is the predominent gun used up here in IPSC. Para has a mixed reputation up here. Some love them others say "The two happiest days in your life are the day you buy one and the day you sell it". The single stacks have a major problem with peening at the slide stop, something Para calls normal. Take Care Bob
  24. Ok I can't read. What diameter are you sizing your bullets? I had this happen to me early on when I sized my bullets to narrow. This will also contribute to leading and certainly tumbling. Lead bullets should be at least 1/1000 over bore to function. In the case of lead bullets bigger is better. Take Care Bob
  25. hawk in ct - There is a wide variation in chamber length in guns chambered for the 9MM as you likely know. Load you cartridges as long as the mag, chamber and smooth function will allow. Chrono the loads once you reach your maximum length to see if you are still achieving your desired velocity. If you play IDPA/USPSA you might want to try 4.7 gr of 231 with that bullet to meet PF requirements. That is my go to load when shooting plated or jacketed bullets. Very accurate in my nines. Take Care Bob
