  1. You own a Glock which is a nice service pistol but....it is no target hadngun. Nothing wrong with the 9MM cartridge. Out of my CZ 85 Combat/CZSP-01 Shadow and my STI 1911 Trojan the 9MM is just as accurate as the .45acp in the 1911 platform. I also ahve a CZ 97Bin 45acp that shoots with the very best 1911's in .45acp. Take Care Bob
  2. Ruger is making inroads up here with their GP 100 with the 4.2" barrel. The gun probably was made to conform to Californai Gun Laws. We have a restriction of 105 mm or about 4" up here. I wish S&W would make their guns with a barrel length just long enough to conform to our laws, say 4.2". Just enough to meet IDPA rules as well. They are giving up a market for their pistols both in Californai and up here. For me, Ruger GP 100 is my next revolver buy as I want to compete in the US with a revolver. I shoot a 625 with a 5" barrel up here in ESR(we ahve an exemption) but I can't shoot it in competitions south of the 49th. Take Care Bob
  3. 4.1 gr of 231 should put you right there. It is one of my favourite loads out of my 9MM guns which includes the M&P 9MM. Take Care Bob
  4. Go with the Springfield for the reasons stated above. The Trophy Matcvh is one beautiful gun and will serve you well in CDP. Take Care Bob
  5. Yeah I know the entire gun has to be 43oz or less and fit in the box. I was just curious how this rule applied to base pads The gun has a full length dustcover so you have to make weight at 39 oz, the limit for SSP before it can play in ESP. Take Care Bob
  6. Yes and in pistol cartridges 8/1000 won't make a hill of beans to you in accuracy. Unless you do all your shooting from a ranson rest there are just to many other variables in handgun shooting to worry about 8/1000" in OAL is nothing to worry about. IMHO it won't effect accuracy one iota. Take Care Bob
  7. I load a lot of 9MM using lead bullets. 4 grains of Unique proved to be the best load in y guns to make power factor for IDPA/IPSC with very tight Standard Deviations over my Chrony. I load mine to 1.115OAL. AS far as crimp is concerned just apply a taper crimp sufficient to remove any belling you applied. The 9MM bullet is held in the case by friction not by a roll crimp. Too, the cartridge headspaces off the mouth of the case hence you don't want to apply a roll crimp. Hope this helps. Take Care Bob
  8. I switched out my Dillon sizing die for a Lee. The Lee goes down further on the case and seems to take out the "Glock Bulge". Works for me. I use the Dillon 550 but I don't think it matters much what press you are using. Take Care Bob
  9. The smoke you are getting is from the lube burning off. I doubt you will reduce it much by changing powders. 231 is my go to powder right now in the 9MM and works great. Take Care Bob
  10. +1. I try to look for loads that give me a SD of 10 or less. I shoot IDPA and IPSC and have found in practical terms at the distances I shoot at with handguns it really doesn't have that much effect on the required accuracy for the sport I am shooting. For me I try to find a load that is consistently close to the Power Factor reuired for the Division I am shooting in. If I find a load close to the PF and with a low SD I settle on it and am happy as a clam. Take Care Bob
  11. I suspect your barrel is in fact .355. If that is the case the bullets are simply to close to bore diameter and they just aren't taking the rifling enough to stabilize the bullets in flight. ARe you experiencing leading? This would be a sure sign of gas cutting which agains would suggest to small of bullet. Take Care Bob
  12. You might want to measure the MG bullets as well to see if they are undersize. You don't want to set yuor crimp die to low or you will end up expanding the case not adding more crimp. All you shuold have to do is remove any belling you applied earlier. Take Care Bob
  13. Not sure if you mean IPSC or USPSA. I know the gun is not legal for IPSC Production. For IDPA it shoots in ESP not SSP. Something to consider. Take Care Bob
  14. I just bought the Lyman mold and so far so good. 3.2 gr of Unique under the bullets makes PF for IDPA and IPSC. Very soft shooting. I load them with an OAL of 1.056. I use them in my CZ Shadow, 85 Combat and M&P. Accuracy is good. Some folks report problems stabilizing the bullets in the 1 - 10 9MM barrels. I have had only one key hole on me and that may have been a fluke. Take Care Bob
  15. Like all the others said, if they chamber shoot them and forget the case gauge IF they chamber. Take Care Bob
  16. 2.8 gr of Titegroup is very soft shooting under my 180 gr LSWC in .40cal. Should work with your moly coated bullets. Take Care Bob
  17. 5.7 gr of HS-6 under 125 gr LSWC (Lyman 356402 Cast from WW) will get you 130PF. STandard Deviation 10. Load was accurate. You will have to work up slightly if you are pushing jacketed bullets. Loads shot over a F1 Chrony. Take Care Bob
  18. No. The ejector would be in the wrong position and the slide stop is not the same. That and the slide may or may not fit the frame. Take Care Bob
  19. All you want to do is remove any belling you have applied to the case. The 9MM uses a taper crimp with the bullet being retained by case friction. Take Care Bob
  20. My chrony tells me my avg using 5 gr of Titegroup under my 200 gr LSWC was 880fps. That load was shot at 32F Feb/06 out of a 5" 1911 Take Care Bob
  21. I haven't found a significant difference in results using one primer over another. Federals do let off easier due to the fact they use an older formula for the priming compund that ignites easier. For Winchester primers try Higginson Powders, they may have some. Take Care Bob
  22. You have to bell the case mouth if you are going to load lead bullets. If you are loading on a Dillon just set your powder mesure die lower. Lead bullets are .452 as opposed to acketed bullets at .451. Take Care Bob
  23. Why not leave it stock and report on the pistol as it comes to you. We shuoldn't have to spend a grand on a pistol and another $500. replacing parts and getting parts fitted properly so the gun will operate smoothly. Sorta like the writers who say gun shot a great 2" group at 21 feet aka 7 yards with one called flier. Ya right! Take Care Bob
  24. I think the 124/125 gr bullet is much better suited for the 9MM, personally. For 125 gr lead bullets I go with 4.1 gr of Win 231, very accurate and makes PF for IPSC/IDPA. For FMJ I fly with 4.7 gr of Unique under 125 gr FMJ MG or plated bullets. Again the load is accurate and makes PF for the two shooting sports I enjoy. Take Care Bob
  25. What pf and how clean do they shoot? I shoot indoors once a week, and the lead bullets I shoot now (not my loads) are very dirty/smoky. 2,8 gr of Titegroup under those bullets will give you aload that makes minor PF for USPSA Production and IDPA. Very soft shooting. As to the smoke you get. This is from the lube burning off as it is required to do to prevent leading of your barrel and there is nothing much you can do about it. Comes with shooting lead bullets. It is not from the lead bullets so you need not worry about lead poisoning etc. Take Care Bob
