  1. For a 16" barrel who really cares!?!? I have a 16" DPMS that shoots way better than me and it didnt cost too much!
  2. Yep its a "real" one. I was concerned about buffers and had a n H, H3 and rifle buffer on hand when I put the rifle together. They all ran and I liked the feel of the rifle buffer the most so that's what I am running. Its got a Bravo Company BCG (I am a big BCM fan boy, I cant say enough good things about there bolts).
  3. I zeroed the Dissipator at 200meters this weekend. I am really enjoying shooting this gun! The recoil impulse seems much shorter than my 20" gun. I wont have a chance to work on any longer range stuff until I visit my buddy in SD next month. Good read Mr Kelley! I will try and get dialed in at 400yds on my next trip to SD. Of my 3 local 3gun shoots only one has access to a 300yd range and the other two are 200 and 100yd max. The Dissipator seems like an advantage on the shorter/pistol bay type courses of fire we encounter here in the midwest.
  4. Porting your slide isn't going to make you a better shooter. Keep investing in ammo.
  5. Have you tried new mag springs?
  6. I use cheap Tula for practice ammo. My match ammo is all handloaded 55gr FMJ (Montana Gold) with TAC and CCI Primers. Costs me $.175 per round (using range pick up brass).
  7. I have sold of my Optics 3G rifle and plan on shooting the next couple seasons with an Irons gun I recently put together. Its a 16" DPMS Dissipator barrel that I have a carry handle set up for and a national match front sight post. I currently have the rifle zero'ed at 100yds. Been reading online about RIBZ, IBZ, and various other sight in methods. What does everyone recommend for a 3gun zero? Most of our local shoots are a max of 250 yards. I am heading to the range today plan on re-zeroing at 200 and seeing where that puts my hits at 25-50yds.
  8. They are too busy fixing guns to respond to every e-mail they get! All the manufactures (big and small) are the same right now. I would much rather have them working on perfecting there craft than e-mailing to tell me they have received my gun. You sent it via Fedex or UPS I presume, why dont you punch the tracking number in to the there system and see where the package is at? It all goes back to my original point. If you dont communicate your needs to them you cant be mad when your needs are not met.
  9. I shoot an XD Tac! Its a great gun and had it not been for a new Sig in my life I would keep it. However I am moving on and the XD is up for grabs (see classifieds).
  10. Did you express to them from the beginning you are a competitive shooter and NEED the gun back by a certain date? I sent in a pistol to Springfield last year for repairs I told the gal on the phone I am a 3gunner and needed it back for a shoot in 3 weeks. They overnighted it to me both ways and I had the gun back in 18days round trip. If you didn't communicate your needs/expectations shame on you, if you did and they are ignoring it shame on them. Regardless Springfield has always serviced myself and my family very well.
  11. I have read Dick's first book. He is truly a mans man in every way!
  12. I once had the soft window in my Jeep slit. I lived in a crappy neighborhood back in my college days and I left the doors unlocked so people wouldnt damage the top trying to get in. I really wish they had been smart enough to try the door handle before using a knife!
  13. Raton is actually on the Amtrak route. I was doing some searching today for my honeymoon and recognized the name.
  14. A couple drops of motor oil in your hands. Run them through a gallon of brass in an ice cream bucket. You can buy a lifetime supply for a few bucks!
  15. Well I didn't end up buying a Millenium and I am pretty happy I didn't. I still haven't gotten an e-mail back with info on building another top end and supplying some magazines. I will gladly take my business to another smith. Not trying to poo poo on anyone's opinion of Millenium customs but if they cant respond to an e-mail from someone who is trying to buy from them I can only imagine how poor there customer service would be should someone actually have a problem they need corrected.
  16. When my gun was having this problem it was the little lever that actuates the striker safety. Springfield adjusted this for free and paid to overnight it both ways.
  17. It seems like the safety binds at times, it requires even pressure from both sides to get it off when it does this. Like I said I assume this will loosen up with a bit of use. I posted over in the 9mm reloading forum and have gotten no help: anyone have load recommendations for the X5? I have 115 and 124gr projectiles and a couple of different powders available.
  18. Watched a guy bang his rifle in to a hot pistol and dump the pistol in the dirt at the Midwest 3G this year (guessing that made for a long trip home). Its the only time I have seen a Bladetech give up the gun. Granted I have only been competing for 3 years and I don't know what his holster tension was. I put an extra 1/2 turn on the screws of my Blade-tech after that!
  19. Mags are on order! Put a call in to a local smith about a Dawson FO sight. Cant wait to get out tomorrow and shoot this thing!
  20. Anyone have a load worked up for there X5 they would like to share? I have 115gr and 124gr RN plated projectiles on hand. I am also considering some 124gr HP's. I have AA#7, Titegroup, and Unique on hand for powders. I have heard these X5 barrels can be tight and it may effect velocity a bit so the load I am currently using to make Minor in my XD may not make minor in the X5. The gun is quite a bit heavier than my XD does this extra weight in the slide sap power from the gun? Thanks in advance.
  21. If you want to save some money check out Harbor Freight. I have had one of there tool bags in my offroad rig for about 5 years. It certainly has done a good job of retaining my recovery gear and tools in the Jeep. For several dollars less than the Husky one it will give you the same effect.
  22. My only criticism is that the safety is very difficult to manipulate at times, I am assuming this will loosen up with use. The trigger has a bit of take up but breaks nicely. Plan on shooting it this way the remainder of the season, practice only until my holster shows up (5-7 weeks from Bladetech).
  23. Been doing some searching. I am assuming the standard Dawson FO SIG front sights fit? I am good with the standard black rear sight but would like to put a FO front on the gun.
  24. Ah... So it might take a bit of dremel time on the grips? I can handle that! I am watching a few sets of grips on auction sites. I am going to try and snatch up a couple different sets on the off chance I mess one up!
