  1. I watch my powder all the time, or just put enough powder so you don't have to worry about it. I would spend the money elsewhere.
  2. I have a LEE U die in the first station and also a redding seating die on my 650 which helps. I don't check my practice ammo but do check all of my match ammo.
  3. I use143g GAT bullets with 4.0 to 4.2g American Select for a soft shooting steel load for minor loaded to 1.180 OAL. It's SWEET
  4. Just had to make the same decision always shot a .45 before I satrted competing, I was worried about all the feeding issues with a .40 in SS. After shooting a friends .40 and the recoil difference I was hooked. I shoot .40 in my STI limited gun and that also made the decision alot easier. Waiting on all of my parts to come in to get it built.

    Wasp Bites

We have them at our bathroom at the range, try going to the bathroom with that swarming around you with your gear on.
  6. Looks great, hope you paid that smith well. I also had the same issue with my factory EDGE on the STI grip safety thumb knuckle area. I hated it and also replaced with a ED Brown. I had to refinish though I had other work done to the gun.
  7. I would keep the ambi, if its bothering your hand why not cut the pad in half. I have long skinny hands and it would tear up my knuckle if I didn't.
  8. I'm working on buying or have ordered parts right now for a SS build but in .40, Caspian slide and frame Briley barrel and bushing EGW internals Wilson grip and SVI thumb safties Dawson sights SVI magwell and MSH SVI short flat trigger
  9. Meeting new people and learning new things.
  10. I have a bad habit of not wearing mine either, seeing this has changed my mind.
  11. I just ordered sum from under armour they have a tactical line, I think about $60.
  12. I was also looking for a good pair of shooting glasses and spent the money on a pair of Rydons. I often switch the lenses out right before a match depending on conditions. Great investment, was tired of buying cheap glasses that didn't last.
  13. Mine stripped out too I called STI and replaced free of charge
  14. Had the same problem with my EDGE it chewed up my hand the same way, so I sent it to my gun smith to smooth out the sharp corners and replaced the grip safety with a Ed Brown. Of course I had to get the gun refinished after that but I was also getting other work done to the gun. I think the spartan comes with a parkarized finish on it so it might not cost alot to refinish it.
  15. I forgot to add I also throw in a sheet of fabric softner to cut down on the dust.
  16. I also use Nu finish and oderless mineral spirits. The mineral spirits also works great getting the case lube off finished rounds.
  17. Spend a little more money and go with the blue machine, in the long run you will be glad you did.

    Flat Trigger

It gives you better contact point on the trigger, say your grab your gun a little high or low on your grip. I use a short flat SVI trigger on my competition guns.
  19. Yep, can't wait GEAUX TIGERS!
  20. +1 on wearing safety glasses you can never be too careful.
  21. It should be well worth it, factory built guns can chew up and blister your hands.
  22. If you contact STI they will probably do it free of charge.
