  1. ..CAB33, the 'trick' is to lock the tendons not the muscle... look at your emotional state as well when shooting.. are u nervous, feeling rushed, pressured etc... all these things lead to 'negative' tension...and affects everything right down to your trigger control....
  2. personally, i dont encourage this.. i think your efforts are better focused elsewhere such as working on reducing transition times, increasing shooting awareness, improving trigger control etc. if you want more 'bang for the buck'..
  3. my beretta 92fs (italian made) has a steel guide rod from the factory..
  4. .. when the unexpected happen you will default to your level of training... look at any US National tapes and you will see all type of weird things happen..what do the pros do.. deal with it and move on.. they do it because they can!! (the 'can ' is through training)..
  5. .. it is not a grip technique issue.. it is about your own 'way of being' when shooting the gun'.. let recoil happen!!.. there are videos on the net showing a guy firing a gun with only his left hand on the gun in the supporting position.. the gun resettles with no bounce.. is it that the solution is so simple as to be incredulous?..
  6. ..there is no such thing as a weak hand.. you have a shooting hand and a supporting hand.. depending on the situation your right or left hand may fill either roles.. Change the concept of a 'weak hand' and your shooting will improve on your so-called 'weak hand' ; if not your mind will hinder the progress of the 'weak hand' and you will force things to happen, e.g. reducing the flip, rather than letting it flow..
  7. .. ron avery's video (i think now on dvd) explains how to work on this very well.. one thousand one, one thousand two.. check it out right here in Brian's shop...
  8. ..engage the reptilian brain and your effectiveness will increase!.. too relaxed and you have conscious override!!..
  9. can u show us a picture?
  10. ..dropping your head to meet the gun.. that disturbs your perception of the image hence longer verification at the end of the draw.. keep head steady, focus on spot on target you want to shoot, bring dot up to that spot and shoot the spot..
  11. .. just my 2c.. always think that you are number #1 on the stage.. both in shooting order and in finish..
  12. saw a guy shooting a match once and on a target he took an inordinately long time to shoot..thereafter he started to blaze the remaining targets..he scored all alphas on these 'blazed targets'. we thought it strange shooting and couldnt wait to talk with him..he said he lost his front sight on the target he took long to fire on and just decided to let it all loose then and there since he had nothing to lose.. "IT'S ALL IN THE MIND"..
  13. ..deep stuff, Steve...real deep stuff... i would encourage all shooters to heed 1 and 2 ..always.. "if u dont know where ya going, anywhere will take you 'there'.. I put 1 and 2 another way.. 'where? how? eyes open! go!'

glocks need cleaning just like any other gun and dont' forget the magazines.. this is a myth that is constantly proven wrong..
  15. this isn't spoken of very often nowadays, but does the gun really fit your hands? .. check it out.. you wll be surprised at how natural your grip comes together when the fit is natural and not forced.. saludos!
  16. "My body did what my eyes told it to do in a most unconscious way." ..that's how it works with everything and shooting is no different.. trust and let go!!
  17. just a word of warning.. dont be ltoo ocked into any 'current concepts'.. the only constant is change.. and as much as you dont want to be too 'results-oriented', at the end of the day it is the results that gives you the feedback... so experiment and see what gives u the best results then build on that...
  18. i have come to realise that the pareto 80:20 rule applies even in shooting.. you only spend about 20% of your time shooting a course, the other 80%... even a straight up course like a bill drill has considerable time-wasting..
  19. Congrats, Raise your ground zero to 100%.. focus now on minimising drop points, doing less, 'knowing the corners' ..you are probably as fast as you are ever going to be physically so move to other areas for development.. remember you never stop learning, all the card is doing now is showing you that you are now on the path to heiho..
  20. ..forget about going faster.. instead work on: Doing less (less reloads, less steps to get to a point, less bouncing , less shots fired, less musular tension, less worrying etc.)
  21. smoothness in the draw: 1. develop that accelerate/decelerate sequence in going for the gun.. 2. Develop a link between where the gun is and what you must do to reach it with your hand 3. Just go for the gun at the signal.. (picture putting a fork with food in your mouth.. once you stop to think you are going to fumble ) ..then there is the presentation but thats another ball game.. for now practice getting the gun out smoothly..
  22. I have seen a Glock 18 fire and I am sure no human has achieved that rate of fire in ANY GUN!! So Glock (or any other gun ) will not hold you back per se... what you need to do is see which gun is more 'natural' to you and which one you have no fundamental problems (challenges) with... for e.g. I prefer a weapon that pushes less back on me.. so to get comfy with a glock I had to increase recoil spring poundage rather than decrease (which is the common trend).. result more flip but less push back.. I can live with that and helps me to time the weapon better. .. re: previous post; 1st line should read "I have seen a Glock 18 fire and I am sure no human has achieved that rate of fire in ANY SEMI-AUTOMATIC GUN!!
  23. .. i use to obsess about this esp. since I had this annoying seven o'clock push that Glock is known for.. eventually found out the technique fix and following that I can shoot Glocks well irrespective of trigger setup..
  24. beretta 92 compact.. over 40,000 rounds.. changed the firing pin at around 30,000 (broke in 2 places but figured due more to extensive dry firing plus a modification)
  25. to me dryfiring can be very exciting and varied.. especially the part where i get to 'shoot' at 'warp speed'... I am only limited by my imagination!!
