  1. yup, same here in the Philippines. One of my shooting buddies broke the breechface of two G17s. Glock also replaced them
  2. Spook, Its maybe because he shoots most of the time here in the Philippines. I don't know him personally. I just see his name on match results at the PPSA web
  3. You got that right Spook! Congrats to the Philippines' Anthony Sy for lording it over the Standard Division
  4. I'm no GM just recently classified as Class B shooter. I replaced my G17's sights with meprolights since its also my carry gun. I fashioned a pair of decals from 3M's skid tape.
  5. Started last year with the G17. Shooting is a childhood dream for me
  6. Yup, I agree. Here in the philippines, one of the most popular belts is the one made by JR Speed. Its similar to that of CR Speed except that its inner belt doesn't have the plastic insert. Picture below shows the difference between the two, the one curling up like a snake is CR Speed's. Though that of JR Speed has the ends sewed. Got the JR while waiting for my CR whose delivery 3 mos. ago was delayed due to factors beyond contol. Comparing the two: Inner belt firmness - CR Speed Outerbelt firmness - JR Speed Quality - Tie Overall Appeal - Tie Value for money - JR Speed. way cheaper Ogiebb, You should get one of JR's when you return here. His belt has drastically improved compared to the early models which were very poor in terms of firmness.
  7. I experienced this twice, once in practice. the 2nd incident occured after a hundred rounds or so. the thing is, it happened during a level 1 match, last stage, last target, and last round fired, giving me my one and only mike imho, it was more of the ammo at that particular incident. definitely not my grip, i'm a lefty, my stronghand thumb touches the safety and mates with my weak hand thumb, the latter doesn't touch the frame
  8. The Ghost Holster was specified fit the CZs. However, there are CZ 75/85s that fit easily and there are those that would require filing the holster's trigger guard sides for widening. This is due to insconsistencies on the CZ frames. I've experience this early this year when I first bought a Ghost Holster which was immediately returned and I ended up with a CR Speed. I've been a happy camper ever since
  9. i think so. fyi, my fellow shooters here in the philippines prefer the cr speed as they find it stiffer than safariland's
  10. mco, thanks! wish you could be there to whip the S_I/SPS boys once more with your Armscor hi-cap (but equipped with STI parts )
  11. Hi Chris, I have a friend who uses an SPS when competing at IPSC-Modified Div. here in the Philippines. His unit was orignally a .45 hi-cap, but he was able to acquire a .40 slide and AET ported barrel for the modified set-up. Not sure if his optics are of OKO brand. When he converted, it took a while before he was able to get the right load for his blaster. In our recent match last weekend, he encountered several incidents of failure to feed. We check his springs one the mag he used and found them too "soft", the follower can easily be jerked of its seating on the spring. Similar observations were made on his other magazines. I'm kinda dissapointed since he got those SPS magazines Dec 2003 for P4,500 here in Manila (USD 1.00 = P55 or so last year). We'll be together in a level II match this Friday. I'll take a picture of his pistol and post it here.
  12. ahem ahem...i believe that was my cz it does flip higher, imho, as long as the grip is correct/neutral, its nothing critical. heck, i shoot better using my 85b than with my G17..or is it just a matter of preference
  13. dude, never thought it would happen to you. major bummer..but then again as we always say...NENA!
  14. me too. i shoot better when i'm not gunning for anything
  15. Eye Cutter, You said it. The hunt is more exciting than the kill
  16. Very true. In my experience, it makes me more deliberate and relaxed as a shoot. Like computer program executing the scripts as it was written...although my processor is still slow
  17. I agree with Skywalker's statement. When I started on IPSC competition last year, among the first tips i got was to look at the front sight and move fast, not necessarily in that order. except for my last two matches, all the rest crashed and burned. Then... I paused, took stock of what I have. Realized and accepted that I lack the fundamentals I shot the last two matches devoid of any desire except to shoot, plain and simple As a result, I placed 28th out of 57 in a level II match. I'm normally place 5th-8th to the last Last weekend, I placed 10th out of 29 shooters. These are really nothing compared to everything else. But to me, its significant. Bottomline, I'm convinced to absorb the fundamentals first, and pick up speed along the way.
  18. here is the wsm holster with a cz 85b Eye Cutter, IIRC, the first time I tried with the supplied trigger blocks, I can't lower both pistols any further. If I try do so, the external side of the trigger block would be protrude and fail to properly secure the pistol.
  19. That is pretty much my take too. And, am I right to think that the gun in the picture is "cocked"? Not "hammer down" (which would make the trigger appear more exposed)? Flex, I did cock it to show the trigger position at conditon 1
  20. Flex, IIRC, that is how my CZ is set-up on the WSM, the pistol's trigger guard is not entirely covered. Will try to post a picture later for comparison. So far, I've competed at Level 1 and 2 matches without a problem.
  21. As promised, here is the G17 on my WSM holster: Eye Cutter, Found out that I can use the arredondo spud provided a put a spacer in between the spud and the holster to avoid canting. A closer view of the trigger guard area: Rescomp can certainly manufacture a truly universal holster, either we're left alone to play with spacers and trigger bars..or the holster itself can be divided into two modules, wherein all one has to do is to replace the upper trigger guard assembly. But I doubt it, it would make us too happy
